On my end, I'd say they're long overdue for including at least one _Power Stone_ character in the roster. As far as I know, it's their only fighting game series which hasn't been represented yet in any crossovers; which is a huge shame, given that with the series' transformation gimmick and its fighters' wildly varying styles, you've definitely got the potential to have some truly fun and unique fighters. Out of the roster there, my picks would have to be *Edward Falcon* and *Ayame* (best girl!).

Now that I think about it, Capcom and Disney probably failed to negotiate the contract in regards to who gets how much of the profits, like Disney and Sony did with Spider-Man. Here's hoping MvC fans can generate the same level of backlash.
I'd be very worried about a MvC 4 nowadays because the Marvel side would just be MCU characters and the Capcom side would probably just be Resident Evil, Street Fighter, Monster Hunter and maybe DMC

Mystique super can be like Spiral from MVC2 but Mystique might be hard to animate which why she never made an appearance in at least 3 but I like to see Lady Deathstrike.

Same here. Capcom should do a Ultimate/Ultra Marvel Vs Capcom 2 and have all the stages from Children of the atom, Marvel Super Heroes, Marvel Super Heroes/X-Men Vs Street Fighter, and MVC1.
Given the proper amount of development time and budget MVC4 would be a gold mine for Marvel/Disney if they could agree to give the game the attention it deserves.

The problem with artstyle at the time was that Marvel pushed to lean on cinematic look, because of how MCU is so popular.
However, as Marvel Ultimate Alliance showed, people LOVED the comic style it went for. God knows if it'll get through their thick skulls, but let's all hope.

I personally would like to see a MvC4 attempt another proper story mode. The problem with Infinite's is that it simply wasn't interesting. It doesn't do enough with the worlds merging thing and is mostly pretty poe-faced and self-serious.
Maybe, if they attempt another, they should go the Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 route where the story is shockingly simple and the focus is more you recruiting characters and the fun interactions that come about from this crazy cast.
Also, more off-the-wall shit. Stuff like the Ultron-Sigma fusion and Thanos taking the Satsui no Hadou from Ryu; the whole story should be that level of crazy. Taking full advantage of these disparate universes smashing together.
for years I've wanted the Green Goblin in MvC, he's the Spider-Man's archnemesis and he has the most unique potential for a moveset that's like no one else's. There's the gargoyle glider, pumpkin bombs, ghost grenades, razor bats and all those halloween based weapons.
If we ever got Mahvel 4, roster wise(speaking as a marvel comics fan) I have always dreamed of having Green Goblin, Carnage, Silver Surfer, Apocalypse, to be in the roster! As for returning Marvel characters I really just want Venom, Dr. Doom, Thanos and Ultron all to be playable in the same game. Really would love for 3v3 to return and proper assists like MVC 2/3 but would love for a 2v2 mode. Maybe even a weired 3 player mode where 6 people can do 3v3 matches but im not sure how that would be implemented properly. Admittedly loved the smooth gameplay of infinite so if it FEELS like infinite gameplay wise i'm 100% down. Really hope MVC4 is something at least being considered man.
One of my mates is a big MvC fan. This would bang if it came to fruition. I’d love to see some overlooked characters from both sides get in this time.
I think character specific endings had a charm to them that isn't so easily captured through a big ol' story mode.
MvCi having native Rollback netcode straight up brought the game back from the grave over the pandemic. I enjoyed watching MVCi tournaments over the end times

I loved that the colors of the colors were skins in Marvel VS Capcom. It was like getting multiple characters in one.
I'm not sure about making Marvel characters look like anime, but I could see a more comic book looking style. With hatched in lines like the JoJo Bizzar Adventure arena games.

To me, start with something resembling Marvel Vs Capcom 2. Yes, remake it with a modern game engine and Dragonball Fighterz style graphics. Maybe not everyone from MvC2 can make it in... that's okay! Make sure the favorites are there, plus some new favorites from later games and what is currently popular.
What about characters that aren't owned by either company but appeared in the past, like Strider?
Remake them as part of Ruby Heart's crew, but they'll play like the the "missing" character. Make them legally distinct. Imagine a fantasy style ranger with magically summoned creatures filling in for Strider. *However,* make it clear to fans that, once everyone can agree, they'll release a proper Strider for the game. Oh, and make sure neither Capcom or Disney are being stupid (the biggest hurdle, I know).
With a solid base game, then use DLC to add more characters, stages, and music. Yes, learn from Smash Ultimate. If necessary, have people vote through preorders for characters, to minimize risks.
Also I just need SonSon back primarily lol. A few others I'd wanna see return or make their playable debut, but first and foremost is my monkey wife

If they did a Marvel vs Capcom 4, I would think that a "multiverse" theme would fit pretty nicely. Currently with Loki, What If?, and the upcoming movies involving the heroes experiencing the multiverse, incorporating that into MvC4 would allow for more characters to be technically added. Sam Wilson can be both The Falcon and Captain America. Their moves sets would be similar but Captain Wilson would incorporate the shield in his attacks rather than Red Wing. It'll be a purely aesthetic thing while also paying homage to many Marvel and Capcom characters that probably won't make it into the game.
I'm 100% with you Digi on the cinematic story, just leave it out and have an arcade style story. Not only does that mean they'd save money on animation, voice acting, and writing, but the time spent on that can instead go to the gameplay, character roster, and all the modes.
I still say to this day that MVCI would have been a ton better if they had not put in that story mode. If they really want to include it, make it as a paid DLC expansion once you've built a massive character roster and have the models ready to go.

Man if we do get MvC2 back, then it would be great to play it again. Like hell if Scott Pilgrim vs. The world can come back then so should this game, even with the licensing nightmare. As for a MvC4, I am all for it as long as the gameplay is still soild, the artstyle actually fits both series and the roster is just plain and simple good and not missing anything. Oh and I am with you on story mode should be short and sweet because while I love Guilty Gear Strive and Dragon ball FighterZ, story modes in recent fighting games go on for WAY too long so either make it short and simple or just don't go for a movie like plot. In any case, nice thoughts and while this is a pipe dream, I would love to see Ruby Heart come back somehow.

One thing that I feel must happen with the roster is, depending on how big the base roster is (I would go for 48 char. total on launch), half the roster should be returning characters from the entire series and the other half should be brand new characters who have never been playable in any of the vs games.

Indeed, Digi. I’d probably be here all day trying to list both the Marvel and Capcom characters I’d love to see debut or comeback in a new game. So, instead I’ll focus on the theme for the roster I’m looking forward to.
Capcom has plenty of characters that could be viewed as superheroes and crime fighters along with some pretty large-scale supervillains. Not unlike what you would find in a comic book.
Meanwhile, Marvel had more than a few fighting and beat’em up games under Capcom that featured several of their comicbook superheroes and villains. So it wouldn’t be too hard a task for Marvel to bring in some more combat focused characters known for their great fighting ability or taking on whole hordes of enemies single-handed.

Gotta say, I strongly disagree with your stance on the game's art direction. If anything, I think the game should lean harder into the comic book stylings of MvC 3, because it's a unique artstyle that has room to improve. Anime-styled games, although in many instances beautiful, are a dime a dozen nowadays, while the comic look has been left largely unexplored in the video game realm for awhile now. Imagine a videogame that looks like Into the Spider-verse. That's the way I'd like a hypothetical MvC 4 to look.

I would really love for Blood, Hayato, Tessa, and Heisenberg to be in a new Marvel game.
I would want to see dash & jump cancelling EVERYTHING on hit on some Smash UltiMEX (my mod) type shit, nerfed dmg output out the ASS, and a combo breaker mechanic implemented that rewards reads and doesn't require ki nor energy output or comeback factor - just true back n forth Magics with defense *IN* offense
For story mode, I feel like they should go for sfv's character story route/ skullgirls' story mode route, where there is dialog in between matches thats either pertaining to a bigger story or is self contained.
Maybe the story could change if you go with a specific team like a kof thing, or it could just be about your starting character like in Marvel 3
I believe they could move into the cinematic realm in terms of graphics/art style but it has to be done exceptionally well(RE engine). That being said, it's possible that the snappy style of movement that MvC is known for might not mesh well with that type of art style.
I hope the Capcom devs grows some pair of balls and says we not making MvC4 unless you add in some X-men

That sounds like a superb roster! Me personally though, I'd definitely have to add Ayame (from _Power Stone)_ on the Capcom side (as both a partner and comedic foil to Falcon, as well as for her stylised transformation/ninja-based fighting style that I think would work great in the setting), and I'd personally swap Ken for Chun-Li as a starter character.

Personally I feel like they should combine cinematic story with character endings..
Ok I guess I should shortly explain what I mean.
In street fighter alpha 3 each character had their own little story that included 2 or 3 rival fights before thier story's inevitably lead to the final threat ((Alpha 3 being bison or Shin akuma if your playing as evil Ryu))
I think MVC 4 should follow this kinda of narrative set up..
Character has a story, cross over happens, they meet rivals their paths converge to final conflict. They get a character ending on HOW they defeated the final threat and a epilogue showing the aftermath of that characters journyt
What I want ? Simple
- Make a massive roster (im talking about Smash Ultimate lvs of characters)
- Bring back the X-men and more villains
- Don't discard things from Infinite just because it's the black sheep if the series (MVCI had some ledgit good stuffs in it like Rollback netcode, the Gem system and Active Switch)
- For the love of Jesus Christ don't let bullshit policy get in the way of game, I know that MVC as series has thousands of copiright issues but don't give us excuses like characters "functions" and don't censor/remove characters because they are not family friendly (I'm still pissed that they removed Felicia and censored Jedah's blood in MVCI).
The rest I want is mostly was allready explained by you in the video mostly the fact that they should not go for a cinematic story and have a defined art style.
11:39 Didn't excutive mandates lead to the comics adopting aspects of the movies, not least of which being visual direction (same with the cartoons)? Like how the infinity gems were made infinity stones and the colors rearranged accordingly. Also Tony made a JARVIS AI for Pepper to help her get used to the Rescue armor. Of course there's also Nick Fury Jr, based on MCU Nick Fury based on Ultimate Nick Fury (weird how that one came full circle). Probably a bunch of other things too (obviously though they couldn't just make Yao, aka the Ancient One a woman or Dormammu into a fog monster (the fog monster in Loki was actually already like that in the comics though, what's next, a comic character already known to make skybeams? Probably Dazzler lol)).
They are still different in art style, many are more colorful.
I feel like they should just make the base roster should not restrict themselves from MCU. Like I genuinely do not know why they did that (I’m guessing Disney had to do with it). What makes the game really special is that they can pull in some of the biggest curveballs out of the many crossover games. Sure there are some other games like smash were they can add someone like Plant and Puff or the upcoming game NASB having Nigel and Lucy but MVC can pull it off a lot more than they can. It’s was cool to see obscure characters like Shuma Gorath or Rocket Raccoon (before the movies came out) get into the game esp outside of the Avengers. I will say the most important thing for the roster to have is the X-Men characters like Wolverine, Phoenix and esp SENTINEL (my personal favorite). I’m not very familiar with them but they’re cool to players and they’re more important than most of the avengers in these games cause the original roaster only have x men characters and a few characters outside of that like Shuma Gorath, Hulk and Spider just to name a few.
Hypothetically speaking my three base desires for a MVC4 would be;
1. X-men and Street Fighter characters day 1. They're the original hype train magnets and should always be included.
2. Bring in characters from older series for a shot at being reborn. Power Stone, Red Earth and Breath of Fire to name a few.
3. MVC2 inspired soundtracks again, I want to feel immersed and remember the feeling for a long time to come.
I'mma keep it 100 - I think I'd just be happy seeing Sean Matsuda and Miles Morales in Marvel Vs Capcom 4. It's been drawn in a bunch of art, but I think it's a really cool concept - takes me back to the days when I saw Cyclops shaking Ryu's hand and I just..I think it would be the DOPEST shit to have 'The Two Protoges' from Marvel and Capcom to be fresh faced in everything that would be the MvsC Title.
Supplemental...I'd LOVE to see Sam Wilson. If he's Cap or Falcon. Apollo Justice or Athena Cykes. (Lean a little heavier towards Apollo but either one is good.) Megaman EXE I feel is so _overlooked_ in the Capcom library? But he's always been my favorite of the Megamans. (Megamen?) I've always kind of wanted to see how he would work in the MvC world. -(I sort of imagine you see Lan on a holographic screen in the background, similar to Pokemon Trainer in Smash. That'd be really sick.)- Psylocke is also a *large* need from me to see her return. She's one of the characters I have fond memory of playing back in the old days. And finally... *Shang Chi.* Obviously movie bias right now, and I think it would work because he's pretty high in awareness with people at the moment. And I know it was mentioned in the video that MCU likeness should not be a thing in MvsC but...Shang Chi with the Ten Rings from the MCU film? I _kinda want it_ my dudes. I just. I understand some people will hate this comment for that very thing, but. I can't lie. I think that will be some dank ass shit.
As final note, I don't think I particularly want a story mode either. But you know what really grabbed me in MvsC3? _Those cinematic trailers._ Like HOO. BOY. I loved seeing the interactions with the Marvel characters with the Capcom characters, and it really did get you H Y P E. I still remember the excitement of watching new characters come on the scene IN those trailers. It was like...near Mouty Oum's Dead Fantasy level. I don't even care if the arcade modes have Still Panel endings. Give me some slick ass cinematic trailers for MvsC4 - that's a trend that should never stop, tbr.

Also, yeah. Cinematic trailers would be awesome but they can also cost a lot to make. Back when Street Fighter X Tekken was coming out Capcom sank too much money into a whole bunch of cinematic trailers and it put them in a bad financial position, so i don't know if multiple cinematic trailers would be a good call for MVC. I'd rather they put the budget into making more game content and adding more characters. Maybe they could make one big cinematic trailer for an MVC4 announcement, then make hype character reveal trailers from there until release day.
@@DiGiValentine That's a fair point, honestly. Kind of a shame. It's one of those situations where it works if it's a real good investment. I feel like Capcom doesn't have broad of an appeal to gamers as it used to - especially after V and MvsCI. So even probably doing _one_ fancy trailer is considered a risk. It's definitely not the priority. I'd say that it's the want in a *perfect* MvC world but...then again. So would an _actually_ kickass story mode.
i'd love to see mvc4 and here's my ideas for what i'd like to see:
roster:it needs this the most as that was the biggest issue with mvci's story(outside jedah/x there were no new capcom characters alongside a lot of it's more charming quirky ones being gone.) and they should go all out with who's in the main roster/dlc(like power stone,gotcha force,rival schools,dino crisis,zack & wiki,cyberbots/tech romancer,star gladiator,other street fighter/resident evil/darkstalkers characters,devil may cry,okami,asura's wrath,megaman,ace attorney,red earth,crimson tears,under the skin,chaos legion,eco fighters,maximo & god hand.).
single player:mvc3 was a big disappointment to me in that area as it could've had a fun story with what the trailers did and think with the interactions it had and with a big roster of marvel & especially capcom's history(as npc's,bosses,minigames or assist characters like clash of heroes.:3) they could have i'd want an upgrade to a huge interactive story mode having fun with it's roster with the visual style of mvc3's trailers alongside the arcade mode endings.
arcade mode:5 wasn't garbage(outside necalli.)/mortal kombat's story is extremely overrated as capcom has really good stories/lore and a fighting game needs more for single player than just an archaic-as-lives arcade mode or at least have animated cutscenes for intro/rival/ending scenes as while i like mvc2 i prefer mvc 1 for it's endings/better balance as mvc2 needed arcade mode endings as it was bare outside online play and could've introduced the newcomers better.
other modes:(alongside maybe minigames like tatsunoko vs. capcom would love to see an equivalent to trophies.)
Honestly, I’m not too demanding when it comes to the roster. With that said variety and aesthetics are definitely key. I believe Marvel and Capcom have enough similar franchises and characters that merit a place on the roster. So I think a MvC4 should not only focus on what the two companies have in common, but as a sort of love letter to the video games and comic books that brought us here.
If they ever bring it back they need to get rid of the Godramon Launcher Button, give Felicia back her Super Litterbox Kick, Morrigan's Soul Eraser, make Spider-Man's Ultimate Web Throw able to hit on the ground, in the air, and able grab more than one character based on how many super meters are stacked!

Oh and here I thought "Assist them" meant "bring back assists." That said, I honestly feel like they should, just to cram a few extra characters into the game, not sure why they got rid of that mechanic... Smash Bros seems to be keeping it alive at least.
Yes but the Competitive smash community expects the game to be played without assists.

They had too much characters to have even more for just assists.
Hated the mechanic of assist only characters
With the time spent developing assist only characters there could have been more fully playable characters
@@KaitouKaiju You _DO_ realize that assist characters take _FAR LESS_ time to develop right? They get a couple attacks, if not a single attack and a fixed movement pattern. That takes *_WAY_* less time to develop than a fully fleshed-out playable character with advanced AI mechanics for when the game controls them...
Ya know I'd actually like to see an MVC game with an artstyle similar to Into the Spider-verse. Or maybe Guirhiru can work on the art direction of the game.

I also think it would be neat for Capcom to take a page out of neitherrealm and have character premier skins.. that way we can have more than one character in one. For example Peter Parker Spider-Man can be the default but then in a dlc we can have a Miles Skin with his own recorded dialogue and maybe some electric effect on spider sting and crawler assault. That way we can play as both spidermen without taking 2 character slots.. same with ironman and Warmachine and Morgan with Lilith

Marvel side needs the Fantastic Four. It's been WAY over due. And Capcom needs to use the Darkstalkers characters. They don't plan on making a Darkstalkers games so give us a consolation prize and use these great characters.

If we get an MvC4, Ms. Marvel, Nero, & Miles are inevitable. And the problem with going with ASW’s path is that it would come at the cost of alternate costumes.
the point on leaving the mcu alone and should not influence the games visually was spot on. on visual direction, perhaps it could work. the ink style of umvc3 worked. if we can get a new game, it needs to look new. i dont see why the art style you mentioned shouldn’t work.
I'd like to see one of the members of the FF, maybe Human Torch or Invisible Woman, I'd love Daredevil. And some of the wierder characters like Howard the Duck, Dr. Strange, Arthur and Firebrand from Ghost and Goblins, Queen B.
