LYRICS
When this is over
When we leave this all behind us
Deep in the moonless night
When the rescue team finds us
It’s going to get so dark for you
I’m going to leave a mark on you
Can’t trust anybody
Even the tough ones crack
Train up a swordsman
To stab you in the back
I Know This Much Is True
I’m going to leave a mark on you
No man knows
The hour, or the day
But the mark is going to be visible
From several blocks away
Maybe you’ll make it
To the far side of the hill
Maybe you will see me coming
But I don’t think you will
Make peace with your family
Walk softly on this earth
#theMountainGoats #MarkonYou #bleedout - Hudba
I wish I personally knew someone who loved this band as much as I do
Saw them in Wichita a couple weeks ago. My favorite concert ever.
Hello and welcome!
saaame
Rhymes with I am gonna leave a mark on you
Let's fight
This is probably the most cheerful yet also directly threatening Mountain Goats song since Foreign Object.
its a nice opposite side of the coin to "getting into knives" as well
There is a fierceness required to love completely
Muito bom
Just a whole album of revenge ballads and i guess its all I ever wanted and didnt know
Hearing this song live and the crowd screaming "But I don't think you will" is an experience I will forever cherish
It's an album [thus far] *FILLED* with *B A N G E R S*
Getting a ton of Heretic Pride vibes in the two tracks released thus far, and feeling extremely excited for this record.
got good news for you bud, there are three tracks currently out!
@@postagestamplicker6527 I missed one! What a great morning for me!
Yknow what this was exactly what I needed. I’m not done bleeding and I don’t care about leaving a mess anymore
This is my new favorite threat: "Make peace with your family. Walk softly on this Earth. I'm going to leave a mark on you."
goddamn i love when he sings in that kinda higher register he goes into around @1:24. so satisfying. great song.
Omg I love that part of his register too! I’m so glad someone else put it into words lol
oh the mountain goats we're really in it now
This is my favorite thing off the album so far, fuck yes girlies we’re eating good tonight
username checks out
Me: *randomly leaves a Zuckerberg bobblehead on my Boss' table*
Boss: *asks, drenched in confusion*
Me: *blasts this song*
ive never been more pumped for an album in my LIFE
All the songs from this album sound awesome so far
"you might see me coming...BUT I DONT THINK YOU WILL!"
This and Training Montage have given me big Mike Myers Resplendent vibes. Training Montage more explicitly cos of "string keen" but this bcos they're both about told from the perspective of a monster.
Sinister, but upbeat, I love it.
WE EATIN' WELL TONIGHT BOYS
How do their bangers only get better?! They are S tier from album one and always ceaselessly rising!!!! 😍🤩
WOW WOW WOW I love how the lyrics feel so classic Mountain Goats but the production has all these twists!! incredible, CANNOT wait for the whole album to drop
I am mildly perturbed by the lyrics saying "I'm going to" when it is v clearly "I'm gonna". love the vibe of the visualizer in general though. adds to it for sure.
same though
This is some goooooooood shit!
Cannot wait for this album, it's coming out a few days after I move off to college and I can already tell it will do wonders for my willingness to go on. Cheers, Goats. Thank you for everything you do.
new mountain goats on my bday? hell yeah
Happy birthday
happy brithday!
This will age well, it's really good.
Holy shit, John.
This song is so good
Fantastic, thanks.
THIS IS SO GOOD
Ohhhhhh that's a great track .thankyou
i love u guys excellent song as usual
i love all the songs released so far and i am so excited for the album to come out!
ALL KILLER NO FILLER
Well done , as always.
Sick riff.
I NANANAKNOW THIS MUCH IS TRUE
Those guitars have a Pavement feel, this is a good thing.
New revenge anthem just dropped
Fuck yeah! 🤘🤘
Hell yeah
this sounds like something pleasantries would make (if anyone know what im talking about)
Been on repeat over and over again, I feel this weird paranoia, not that someone's after me but that I should be chasing someone who I haven't found yet
Who is the second vocals?
Mountain Goats: "wage war, get rich, die handsome"
Also Mountain Goats: "Make peace with your family, walk softly on this Earth."
S A M E A L B U M
I feel like it's important to note that the second line is said in an explicitly threatening way.
Sitting right there next to "I'm doing this for revenge"
Loving this album so much
Kinda reminds me of Lifehouse circa 2006.
Searching the comments for John Green
I don't know how to explain it, but this song has a strange sadness to it.
A pity it's so short
To me this song is about Griffith and Guts from Berserk.
Rachel Ware? Who is that singing backup?
Alicia Bognanno from the band Bully, she also produced the album
@@jagoandlitefoot I saw that she produced, but tysm- I wasn't sure who was singing. Rad!
Is this things AI generated from a model trained with all the other tMG songs ?
Reminds me of the story of Caine.
Ahhh it feels too busy! The music overpowers the vocals.
If this is good indie rock is dead
I hear that you don't really like this, but fwiw the Mountain Goats aren't "indie rock" in the strictest sense. They have heavy, punky songs at time, but I would categorise them more as indie folk.
Have a listen to Minnesota - an early lo-fi song recorded on a boombox, so be ready for that - or Song for Dennis Brown, or Pictures of my Dress for a more recent song. That's the bread and butter of this band. If you don't like it, that's cool. But the Goats aren't indie rock. This album is a pastiche of your standard grimy 80's VHS action movies, and they probably tackle a rock sound better than I would have expected, but I wouldn't call this indie rock.
That being said - what's your opinion on the Weakerthans? Genuinely curious. Might be too normie for you or something, but I feel like the Weakerthans have the songwriting chops of the Mountain Goats with a more indie rock sensibility, at least on their first album Fallow.
