- Clive Hornby 20 October 1944 - 3 July 2008 was an English actor, best known for his role as Jack Sugden in the ITV soap opera Emmerdale.[2] He first appeared in the programme (then named Emmerdale Farm) in 1980, and remained in the role for 28 years.

I met “Jack” with “Charity” when they came to open a new Morrisons store up near Blackpool. They were both charming and helped me blow up the balloons to put around the table where they were both signing photos. Happy Days
Nice memory SS
Jack Sugden was a good character shall miss him deeply
I met Clive in the esholt not long before he died, he was an absolute legend and was great to talk to him. He drove a Saab at the time.
Clive Hornby was a fabulous actor he knew how to act . he replaced the late Andrew Burt played the first Jack Sugden in 1972 .Emmerdale farm was Emmerdale farm up until 1989 .then the drop the name farm and call it Emmerdale .which in my book was demeaning the soap originality created by Kevin Laffan back in 1972 . it started with a farm and should have being kept that away when you had brilliant actors and actresses like the late Sheila mercier aka Annie Sugden Toke Townley aka Sam Pearson and Fraser Hines who played joe Sugden. thank you again sir for showing us where Clive's ashes were scattered amongst the lawn grounds
I love emmerdale farm & liked jack
Oh my nearly 16 years since Clive died - so young really
I watched Emmerdale Farm in the 70’s and it was so well written
Clive was the ‘linch pin’ for me that held the Sugden family together with Annie as the Matriarch
Back in the day when we only had 2 tv channels ITV and BBC
👍 👍 ❤️❤️🙏🙏🥲🥲🏴🏴

I didnt think it was as long ago as that!! I met Clive Hornby. He was really friendly!
Watching from Ireland as a child I would watch Emmerdale farm with my parents may he rest in peace.
I had the pleasure of being in Clive's company many times due to his love of target sports. He was a Gentleman in the true meaning of the word, a thoroughly nice man, as was his son Tom.
okay, thank you Tom. Thank you, Thank you with that a very nice comments to have actually met. These people in person always gives interest. Thank you, Alan

CHEERS ALAN GREAT VIDEO I REMEMBER CLIVE FROM YEARS AGO
HE WAS A WONDERFUL IN EMMERDALE THANKS FOR ALL THE INFO ON HIM SAD HE WAS ONLY 63 WHEN HE DIED
R I P CLIVE 🙏🥀
really nice stroll , such a shame he died at just 63 , rip Clive .
I met Clive and the Emmerdale Cricket team at a Charity match held by Yoorkshire Tea. He was so friendly! No snootyness or" i am a star"nonsense from him.
Thank you that was very interesting and it looks beautiful there, I can't say I was a fan of Emmerdale but I had to watch it when I was younger as my mother liked it. I remember "Jack Sugden" he did die too young. You are correct about your health as for money I wouldn't know 😂. Great video 👏👏👏👏🤗
Thanks Alan, Never watched any Emerdale farm but this is a great tribute to him. RIP .
Thank you Steve. He was a well-liked person after lily 3 decades on Emmerdale. All the best my friend, Alan
Loved him as Jack. Not watched it in years tho. X
Rest in place Clive
I'm also from Ireland and I loved watching emerdale
Alright Alan just catching up on videos, a great tribute to the actor, and an absolutely amazing location, didn't watch it much but remember my late parents having their tea in front of the TV to watch the soaps.
Hi Tang nice memories then take care of my friend Alan
I remember watching the show from the very beginning
Hello Debbie, I actually think I can remember watching the very first episode about 1:30 in the afternoon I believe with my mum, golden memories. Take care of yourself, Alan
I saw him nr Boroughbridge walking through a village. Years ago. He lived nearby!!
Beautiful Tribute Alan ...Loved Clive as Jack ..He was born in Liverpool as was I .. (In Walton)
Hello Debbie a fellow scouser. I wonderful. He was a lovely guy in real life. I can see. All the best, Alan
Clive was a lovely guy. Met him in Ilkley.
I loved watching Emmerdale Farm with my mum I think it was on at lunchtime.
I met Clive in Skipton when I was Mayor, he came along to Open our Sheepday event, Clive was a pleasant and generous man, we spent some 3 hours together walking about the Town and meeting folk, he gave his time freely and was a genuine 'Nice guy' of TV I was shocked when I heard of his death, taken away from us all far too early, RIP Clive and thank you for all you time given to our Town.... :-)
I lovely memory Andy Thank you
Well done alan, a fitting tribute to the great man 🙏
Hi Alan. Really enjoyed this one as I used to love Emmerdale Farm. It was lovely to see the original village and Woolpack. What a picturesque area, so very beautiful. He sounded like a really nice man in real life. I absolutely love your little 'notes' at the end of your Vlog and you are so very true. Life is so very precious. Thanks for this Vlog ..it really is a great one.
Hello Louise, I'm so pleased that you enjoyed a little trip through Emmerdale. It's a lovely village is Esholt they were bits of it that we use that I didn't show cuz I didn't want to take the film to be long best Alan
my parents said they once met clive in a pub in leeds and they said he was so outgoing they had a drink with him and a good laugh
Hi Alan what a georgeous video loved jack sugden in emmerdale you’re so right Alan I’ve been with people that strive for wealth and turned out to be not very nice people they haven’t got me like you say as long as you’ve got a roof over your head health and family what more could you need thanks Alan have a good day ❤️😊
Hello Crystal, I sometimes wonder what I should keep mentioning these things, but I used to read a lot of psychology, books and simple ones like don't sweat. The small stuff bring all this home and I think we should be grateful and then we're happy. Thank you every so much though. That's lovely of you Alan
Clive Hornby came to open a b and m store in my town Dudley with Emma Atkins who plays charity sadly I didn't know about it until after I would loved to have met him great man fantastic video I love Emmerdale and it's a lovely part of the world been to both villages great place thanks for this really enjoyed brilliant video 👍

@@MotorHomeBeepBeep your very welcome thanks again 👍
Very enjoyable 👍
It's a wonder TV fame for the church ⛪️ had not benefited. However, back to a talented actor who lived a successful life but left us at an early age now at peace 😊😊😊
Great to see you back again. I missed you. I enjoyed the video about Jack. I dont think that I've watched Emmerdale.I didn't realise that he died as long ago as 2008, I thought it was recently. Looking forward to the next video.
Hi missed you too Jacqueline, yes time marches on but he is still remembered well and nicely take care Alan
I loved this video Alan. Thank you. Clive was a wonderful Actor, I so much enjoyed watching him in Emmerdale farm as Jack Sugden. So sad that he died young. R.I.P Clive. xx
Hello Angel he definitely has a place in a lot of people's hearts and memories for almost three decades. Take care, Alan
That was a really nice video, loved the statement at the end, so true.Warren Clarke would certainly have agreed with you if he could see into the future, another great actor who died far too young.
Hello User I know it was quite a funny story but isn't exchange. They always say youth is wasted on the young and it seems that way sometimes. Thank you, Alan
Im also irish loved watching it
Same here
Emmerdale Farm, there’s a name to bring back childhood memories. I even visited that village some 25 years ago and had a drink in the Woolpack. Thank you Alan for telling Clive’s story. Very respectful and interesting as always. Keep up the good work 👍.
Hello judge, so it brought back a nice memory for you. I'm very pleased. Alan

Hi Psy What's a shame that the pub wasn't doing so well? Anyway it sounds like the guy you know has got it into the profit margin 😄 Thank you for the encouragement. See you, Alan
It's so cute place❤
Long time no see hope your well. Brilliant actor started watching emmerdale farm after my 1st child was born and I was at home. It was on around lunchtime so I would feed my baby and have my lunch watching emmerdale. In 1973 still watch it now. I've not visited the filming site yet at Harwood House but would love to at some point. Thanks for sharing. Love from Holmfirth West Yorkshire 🩵💙🩷
Hi Gill a nice memory for you I do believe I can actually remember seeing the very first episode in 1972 with my mum. I don't think you can go around the sets at harewood house, but I'm not totally sure about that. Maybe it has become a tourist attraction and I'm wrong. Harewood makes a great day out anyway look after yourself. Alan
Yes I've seen so many people posting on fb and TV advertising for it.
Loved this! - What a beautiful tour...
HI EG, it's always great to see you and watch your beautiful and informative films.

Love the video Alan and Clive seemed such a nice person as well as a brilliant actor and my wife and I visited esholt last year and walked through the church yard but did not know that Clive's ashes were scattered there anyway thanks again Alan for bringing this marvellous video can't wait for the next one well done
Hello Karl it's a shame there isn't a plaque, but yes, it's a nice location. He sad to believe that it's over 50 years since the program began so they must have used that village a lot in the past. Nice to hear you both enjoyed the trip. See you soon. Alan
A other brilliant video Alan keep them coming mate .
I'll do my best John
Nice to see you back Alan. i the soaps in the early days was worth watching but now would not watch them if you paid me

HI Marion i keep making them just for you :-)
That wa amazing: I visited the original set of Corrie back in the late 80s.. Richard medley was coming out of the studio and nearly run me over in his Volvo lol !!
You they got a big compensation if you have hit you 😉
Hi Alan. I've been going through all your videos over the last two days. I'm off work ill.
Apart from your whole content, I totally enjoy your little bits at the end. The motivation bits at the end. I've been going through a lot over the last couple of years & It nearly came to an end in November.
But listening to your advice, has woken me up and I'm going forward.
Hi Kev I feel you had a bad time and we are all at the mercy etc but it is 100 per cent true that if you lose your spirit and get depressed everything is worse even your body. It's not easy if you are poorly but if you try to get used to being thankful and focusing on good things it lifts you up in all ways. One day at a time :-) Good luck keep in touch Best Alan
@@MotorHomeBeepBeep I appreciate your support and kind words Alan. It's affected my channel too. But thanks to you, I'm planning my next venture. ❤️
Nice video and tribute, did you know Clive was not the original Jack sugden? Nice and wise words at the end...best wishes!
Hello Steeple Jack yes, I can actually remember the original series so all the original cast is the one I really know. I don't watch the present their program. Thank you for the kind comment Alan
Hi Alan nice to see you another great video all soaps are not the same anymore not like when they first started 😊
It's a very different program to the original. Thank you User
Hi Alan nice to see you are back. As always a great vlog , good content and lovely sentiment. I visited Esholt in the early 80,s with my family. I was a fan of the original Emmerdale Farm but didn’t keep up once it became Emmerdale. It’s amazing in life how certain music, events , films and TV bring back memories. As we get older we enjoy those memories, become more sentimental and in my case very surprisingly more emotional. Your VLOGs are always an enjoyable journey to the past which continues to be a better place than today. Kind Regards and safe journeys….
Hello! CFP isn't that amazingly wonderful that we can collectively remember these people from my past and it brings out memories that recapture and on personal loved ones like you're visit. Very happy to hear your story. Alan
Thanks beeb your anice guy im happy To see your doing good work To let me see yours videos Off graveyard meny thanks😊
It's a pleasure to read your comments. Tap
Hi Alan nice to see you again .
Warrior great to see you mate
@@MotorHomeBeepBeep thanks mate you too
Another great video. I didn't know this actor at all, me never having watched Emmerdale. It is a lovely location and his life story was well told by yourself. I will be travelling into London in the next couple of weeks as I have a few graves to visit there. 8 in total I think. I hate London. Keep up the good work buddy. I love all your videos.
Hi G D I know exactly what you mean about London. I hate the place also. I stopping some locations in my motorhome but I think he'll be stopping in accommodation. I hope you get some decent parking. It's very difficult. Good luck with the films. You're doing a great job and thank you for your comments as always. Alan
Just watch your video it great keep up love meet up you one day we live in withernsea East Yorkshire
Thank you for the upload, Alan, much appreciated sir 👍
Hello John, it's great to see you
Perhaps you can visit Warren Clark’s resting place he was a great actor
Nice idea June but his ashes were given to his family. I wonder were the young man is now he still only be in his early 40is
Clive Hornby was also an enthusiast of Progressive Rock band's from the 70s. And in particular 'Yes'!
Yes, they had Rick on this Is your Life saying lovely things about him
@@MotorHomeBeepBeep Yes indeed! Have met Rick Wakeman several times! 'Always Polite' and he kindly signed a couple of my Yes albums for me. As for Clive he seems as if he was a 'thoroughly decent guy' as well!! Thanks Alan!
Thankyou so much!!
Love your vlogs
👏👏👏
Love your uploads Alan!! 🦋🦋🦋
Sandra, much love to you
Right back at you Alan 🦋
Hi Alan, are you putting any more videos on? It's just the last one I've got is if Clive Hornby from Emmerdale and I do enjoy what you put on.

It's not accepting that email address Alan
I love this mini cooper with a British flag on the roof
Yes Rena it looked smart
Ahh that place is gorgeous! I used to love the intro to Space: 1999 and used to think Martin Landau was the coolest name ever. What other tv things have you appeared on Alaaaaaaaan?
Hi Donnnnna I was working as a self-employed spark on the film called f**** and Elvis in 1999 and I got to know the guy that ran the extras we became mates. For a few years, I did some walk on but me best bit was in the program I didn't really like which is typical. How is the bar man series 2 where the heart is. It was a bit of slop 😉
That's cool having had the opportunity though. I don't think I ever watched that program but I think it would be fun trying to spot you 😁 The nearest I've been to being on TV was when the news crew was at Hemsby about erosion - they'd set up fairly near the ladies toilets and I was sh*tting myself thinking they were going to capture me walking up the stairs to them 😂
The best part of being an extra or occasionally a bit more was not the filming with so-called Celebs!! that were usually nice clever people, it was meeting the everyday people and having fun days out truly in strange locations. I feel you might like the challenge :-)
@@DonnaGB333
I probably would! My 100% dream walk on part would be being a zombie extra that pops out from behind stuff doing jazz hands. Do that, have a nice day out and then get a chinese, sorted😁@@MotorHomeBeepBeep
Alan have you thought of doing Dad o Conner and Deborah Kerr
Ey up Alan just sitting down watching the telly
Rip ❤🙏 good actor in emerdale farm 🚜🐑🐔🐓
My guilty secret a lot of years ago now I had a secret crush on him 😊
A very nice gentleman may he have Internal arrest very nice vlog well done hope you are well 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍🇬🇧🇬🇧🎥
Hi Alan, shame about the church
It is John. It's definitely not being used for a long time. It smelt very damp. Lets up they can get the money to do it
How about Simon Dee? Sad end to his career - what’s the story?
Extreme holidays sounds like Greece Alan 😊
Come on Moggy it is an extreme holiday. Extremely cheap 😂 I like being simple and cheap anywhay cuz he matches me... Thank you my friend. Alan
@@MotorHomeBeepBeep 😂😂
I think you mean disbanded. Dismembered means something totally different 😂😂.
Where is Alaaaaan?
Hi Donnnnna that's very kind of you. Life got in the way just a bit busy but on Sunday I set off and I've done three films. The last one today I had to break in to the locked Jewish cemetery to do. Brian Epstein. I had permission from some workers But scaling a 6-ft wall isn't great when you're not a teenager. Thank you! I'll try to put one film up this week. I really appreciate it. And I have plans to start a new channel next month so I'm not going anywhere. I hope you're keeping well and enjoying life. Alan
@@MotorHomeBeepBeep I shall await your video and am glad you made it through your wall climbing escapade 😁 1st of May now (taps watch), so am looking forward to you pootling around in your motorhome and bringing us your lovely vids and new channel... I'm doing OK, looking forward to 3 day weekend not going to lie 😁 Hope to do more planting etc.
Very nice TV for an early generation of watchers in the 1970's But personally I hated Emmerdale Farm. What a bunch of wooden actors they were! They would put Drew Pritchard to shame in a barn full of old Antique Ghosts.
You can't win them all 😄
Nice one bud if I ever become famous I hope you do me. 💯👍✊As always 🙏🙏
Don't think like that you're going out run me doom :-)
Lovely chap …played jack when emerdale was a fantastic program well written with great actors not the pile of woke crap of today,
