They used to make Disney character LSD on blotter paper. Micky was the Wizard. Disney company actually tried to sue an unnamed drug manufacturer in court for trade mark infringement. Which made that acid even more popular! The seventies were great! And Micky is eternal. (He's behind the scenes pulling strings. In the movie Eternals.)
The thing is, we didn't have all these stylized things in the 30s to where they dont have anything to compare the dolls to. Then your brain just sees it as normal
Tbh they look creepy but like back then they didn't have the resources back then and plushies especially a cartoon character like Mickey mouse would look off.

Especially if something is homemade like the costumes, they didn't have a sheet with every angle of Mickey. Is creepy? Yeah. But really it's better than dolls from the 1800s. And Mickey probably wasn't as popular in the thirties. And wasn't really meant for kids I guess...
