  • This video is a DIY walkthrough on how to change the brake pads on Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 & Continental GT 650.
    It had been a while since I had changed my brake pads (9months to be exact). And ever since I got the New Himalayan I sort of got lazy and kept postponing the changing of brake pads on my interceptor 650. Until I couldn't not ride the bike at all! So I tried to do it myself and got stuck. The rest is in the video which I hope you would enjoy.
    We all make mistakes and often learn from it.
    .
    My learning, I'm definitely investing in a GOOD tool set!

    Hello from Utah. Excellent video. Great camera work showing the mechanic changing the brake pads. This is exactly what we need to see. Good narration. By all means purchase a few tools; as you found out the factory tool kit leaves a lot to be desired. A set of open end/ring spanners, a ratchet socket set, needle nose and channel lock pliers (like your mechanic used) and some screwdrivers and you'll be all set.

    Believe me Bro, I knew you would need RSA just after reading your video caption. Been there 😂
    You need to press firmly so those pistons will go inside fully, highly advisable to remove pistons, o rings, clean them and change brake fluid while changing new pads, good time to grease caliper pins too with caliper grease
    Cheers 🥂

    There is an easy way to change brake pads with only the bike tool kit. Take the wheel off, then disc is out of your way and pad change is easy. Repeat for other wheel and its all done.
    You can use a wood or plastulic wedge inside the caliper to push pistons back.

    • @SrinivasGanesh
      @SrinivasGanesh  Před 4 měsíci

      Ah! yes that is also true, but I was not able to remove the caliber from the front end using OEM tools, so assumed that I may not be able to open anything with those, hence ended up calling the Road side assistance.

    I find price of the brake pads on the higher side as compared to other REs. Any option ? Pads for interceptor hardly last 7-8 k Kms only

    • @rakshanpoojary439
      @rakshanpoojary439 Před 4 měsíci

      Higher price because these are Sintered brake pads, and not organic ones which are used on other lower capacity REs. Higher performance and lasts longer.
      I wouldn't agree with your second statement though. 15K kms in ODO and never replaced brake pads. I feel like the front is still good for a couple of thousand kms. and about the rear ones, I don't think I would have to replace atleast for next 20K kms.

    Hey Srinivas, it looks like the rear caliper pad pin is missing the clip on the right at 05:48?
    For DIY I highly recommend getting Stanley's ratchet spanner set (both 1/2" and 1/4") and maybe even a set of ring spanners for places where the ratchet won't fit.
