  • Brian Scalabrine is sick of all of you chumps saying that you can beat him in basketball. So we found some of the best ballers in Boston to go one-on-one with the White Mamba, so he could prove once and for all that even the last guy on a pro basketball bench is still better than you.

    2 of those guys played Division 1 college basketball, 1 of them played Division 2, and 1 of them played Pro Basketball in Australia. These guys are all better than your average street baller and in their neighborhood courts EPIC. Brian is just leaps and bounds better than them even though he's retired and out of practice. And he was a role player in the NBA. Just imagine how dumb a 6th man on the bench would have made these guys look.

      I think what qwerty means is that besides just the injuries, Wroten is definitely not performing to his potential since he's definitely in the top 10% of NBA in terms of pure athleticism and talent. In the one season where he averaged 17 ppg, he shot 40% FG, so it wasn't exactly a great outing, though his shooting numbers were brought down by absolutely horrible 3pt shooting (25%), but even adjusting for that his shooting on just 2pt shots was 46% (which isn't great). Point is that all NBA players are amazing and they only look bad bc they have to play against eachother!

      @ponypower8 Před 2 lety +5

      Totally agree. Even those who casual fans & sportscasters with 0 NBA or NCAA experience criticize as poor 3 point shooters or horrible FT shooters, are actually good shooters outside an NBA game. That's why those who mock & challenge Ben Simmons or Giannis to a FT or 3-pt shooting contest don't know what they're talking about; Ben and Giannis will just beat them as badly as Scalabrine beat those guys who challenged him in a 1-on-1 game.

  • @andgar923

    What surprised me about Brian was his overall quickness. There is no way he should stay in front of them. One would think it would be a layup drill for most of these players, but he was there old age/injuries/past prime and all. His first step and quickness to get into his moves was also impressive for a player his size against smaller players.
    I've played against a few players that had 10 day contracts in my prime, and they murdered everyone. They all stated how good NBA players were, how in shape they were, how fast and strong they were and how good shooters they were. I also remembered stories of Bo Outlaw dropping 50 points with ease at Venice Beach tournaments, yet he wasn't known to be an offensive player whatsoever in the pros.

    I didn't notice at first, but there's a 10-second shot clock. Totally changes the complexion of the game. Sure, there are guys that can do tons of great moves, but when you add in a clock, players can't sit there and spend 15 seconds trying to set up their move. Alternately, Scal lived for a decade with a shot clock and also knew his role wasn't "handler" so he wastes no time going into his offense (and he's scary good at seeing his opportunities and advantages in a 1-v-1 setting).

    the last guy honestly had him, but scals jumper was fire. if the second guy combined his defense in the post with the first guys height and then added that to the last guy, that would've been a big matchup. people shouldn't claim they're better than an nba player, because if they were better, they'd be in the nba.

  • @averyb.476
    @averyb.476 Před 2 lety

    I'm not surprised at all what he did offensively against these guys. He got that polished old man game that's strong plus great footwork. Defensively this surprised me! These guys were struggling to get shots up! Makes me wonder how good they were 🤔 for instance the second dude never drove and everything was off balance fadeaways that stood no chance.

  • @mattbalfe2983
    @mattbalfe2983 Před rokem +1

    What stands out is his defense, he's missing plenty of shots but that D is near air tight, perhaps not the most exciting play style but excitement isn't what necessarily gets you to the nba.

    1st guy just couldnt contain him, he could drive though.
    2nd guy started aggressive which made Mamba get aggressive in defense mode shooting 3s, he also shot too quick not setting his feet, and was getting DUNKED ON!! NO chance for him playing like that lol 12:49 hurt his soul.
    3rd guy the brother, was fouling mamba the whole time and trying to shoot on the taller man not smart not using his speed, 20:32 point was SEXY!
    4th guy had the best D, 27:21 ooowee!, but had a Terrible gameplan.

  • @brockman562
    @brockman562 Před 9 měsíci

    it's evident, Brian's NBA skills showed.... his footwork, mechanics, body bumps and ways get open or an angle for a shot. he was also bigger, faster, stronger, and...he read all his opponents well on offense and on defense, he also 'recovered' fast when he bit on a move. he was an NBA player for 11 years for a reason, and was a D1 hooper for a reason. funny thing is, I think he was 1-3 years removed from the game. If he played his opponnets during his NBA years when he was fit and in his prime, it would he woulda skunked all his opponents.
    Scal played 4 fuckin 1v1 games...that's tiring and still managed to pull the sweep.
