I actually did start with a few of these back in the day just starting out and getting skills up. Began early on with punk - then moved through classic rock, onto progressive, then stuck to power/prog... along the way, started to just run scales, focusing on note articulation and speed, then found more exotic scales, and some theory... then learned to mix it up, see "patterns and shapes" as I ran various modes... then that laid the foundations to really "shred" on bass, since I'm of that style mostly when I play... decided I liked descending and ascending strings, so I went up to 6 string over the years... but for bassists that seem to have complete mastery over every aspect I think Mr. Franck Hermanny is probably as good as it gets, without much doubt.
That's what I practiced learning to aspire towards as I got pretty good, then once I mastered all the bass stuff from the "so-called legends" out there, there wasn't a lot left to pursue. Hope you like my dumb story - illness slowed me down in the end, but I had fun, and still do jam a bit here and there... Anyway, no doubt he could cover about everything, while almost nobody could cover anything he plays that's of his own original making.
I don't believe any of the "greats" can do this kinda stuff... sadly. But that's how music goes at every position and band - the most skilled are not really noticed, but the "top guys" in the public are far from the best out there. Check it out if you want your mind blown! czcams.com/video/bUe9n8n3k2k/video.html
Well, that’s just like, your opinion man
Big lebowski
Shut the fuck up Donny
@@theagreer649 lol that's what I tought when I saw that comment
You probably listen to Nickleback and coldplay
Phones ringing Dude....
This is awesome ! Well done !
Fleetwood Mac's "The Chain" MUST be on here.
Since you FREELY POST tab On screen...I subscribed.
How I wish all YT guitar/bass tutors are like you. You are NOT selfish.
Thank you.
Thank you for the partiture and the tablature Bro, You are The Master of Guitar Bass. I salute you.
Some unexpected choices.
today it's a dream for me to play like you! Thanks a lot, i'm very impressed by your slap & speed
Grande Matt, hai fatto il botto con 'sto video!
Thanks man! The tabs are gonna help a lot!
Yo that is so sick! Thank you for your video I am just learning how to play and that has given me courage! Keep it up please!
Just picked up a bass after 20 years of guitar. Fun stuff
Great combination of songs matt
awesome matt!!!
YOu are getting some nice tones here. Great job!
Fantastic mate! Keep it coming!!!!!! Weeee ....
Good Work!
One of the best bass lines was done by the bassist for Lou Reed on Walk on the wild side. I never get tired of hearing it.
You're talking about Herbie Flowers - not only a fabulous bass player but one of the greatest human beings on the planet.
Great job, thank you!
For sure this is a veteran Band player. Nice Bass Demo. Thanks for sharing...
Came here to make sure Flea got something in the list lol. Good video, you might be able to get more traffic to this if you put the songs in the description!
Muchas gracias .me encantó este video
Definitely not my choices for bass lines of all time.
It's always subjective.
@@fabiojovanovich is it? There's no Jaco... Jaco was objectively the best fretless bass player of all time.
I think he went with te "basic but still great" lines
@@rudolphdrasler2697 - Generally jazz bassists (I consider Jaco as jazz musician) are underrepresented in this list, although many jazz bassists outperform rock bassists.
Pedroleum100 Nobody outperforms Geddy Lee and Les Claypool. NOBODY!
Perfectly done tutorial, will recommend this to my friends who are wanting to learn a bunch of songs on bass, Thank you for a super clean, helpful and straight to the point tutorial.
I see a demonstration. There is no tutelage here. You have a good imagination.
Great work superb !!!
Hardcore Bass Players be like: "Well well well, where is my favorite obscure dark metal jazz band"
Shut up, just enjoy
Titanic work, thanks! I appreciate your videos, especially about bass.
Thank you!
I'm glad you care about Dawn patrol cause so many don't know that riff
Cool! Bravo!!!
Very Good my Brother !!!
Very nice!
Great vid👍
I guess it worth to mention tuning at the beginning
Tip: For the Come Together riff keep your index finger on the A string and slide all the way up to the 15th fret, at which point play F on the D string 15th fret then D on the A string 17th fret with a little hammer on. Sounds way better ;)
Do the same on the E string for the A, slide all the way up to 15th fret then hit the C 15th fret A string and pull bend it to a C#
Brings it to life!
No need to thank me :)
Oh my god, as I didn’t know this Channel before. Excelent 🤟🏻👏🏻👍🏻
Beautiful pj bass im jealous, getting me a Squier Affinity Series Vintage Modified PJ in half a month, excited
im starting to learn bass guitar so this vid really encourages me to grab my guitar thx so much :)
thank you from france
This was fun to play and read along to.
Nice songs for beginners, thanks mate
Higher Ground - Chili.. :DDD Stevie loves them maybe..
Nice. Thank you.
So nice, congrats! Missed Panic Station - Muse.
Amazing !!!
Beginner friendly, awesome 👍
absolutely brilliant. Just picked up a bass about 2 weeks ago..... I have a long way to go. But loving' this you've done
Thanks for the lines. Excellent job, even when I don't like some of them. Very good practice of different styles. If you ever post a third edition, I would like to see some more Steve Harris and Roger Glover - Liked and subscribed!
This list would be much better called "A random selection of songs that have bass guitar in them, including a couple that are somewhat cool sounding, but are all great for that 1st year self-taught bass player to utilize as he becomes a bit less newby, but are fun-ish to play." Nothing here is top 20 anything, except pop chart standings, except for a couple maybe. Imho
Delightful !
Totally agree
And here I was wondering what idiot wouldn't count in Tool in their Top 20
I bet you're fun at parties. :D
@@razeel2000 lol, I am.
I like the list, glad to say I already know a few of them. Makes me feel like less of a noob
It is still cool to the bass separated from the rest for some of us non-musiciams
Yikes! This was a good list for cool songs for beginners, but a horrendous list for best of all time.
it wasn't a list for BEST technically, just good
@@JohnSmith-mu8zo TOP 20 AMAZING BASS LINES OF ALL TIME ! So OF ALL TIME! So also the bigger and harder ones.
@I'm Nobody i know thats why i said : also not only.
Nicholas Johnson judging by the flying pinky i think he is a beginner
kkk yep. Agree
I love bass guitar!!!!!!!!
really good video, this is what helps beginner players get to the next level , your good people Matt Ten
Pretty nice
That you left tool and Mise asside, where was the chain by Fleetwood Mac? Probably one of the best known baselines ever!
Good job buddy! I noticed that you have a better groove when you play with the pick ;-)
WOW I remember my first Bass lesson....
Great for exercising your fingers.
Thanks!!!!!
Great feel. Thankyou. SUNSHINE OF YOUR LOVE. Yes! Maybe you could include Manic Depression, Gimme some Lovin , Hey Bulldog and and Smoke on the Water if you do another list? Cheers
FANTASTIKKKKKK GRAZIE MAESTROOOO OK
Perfect 🤩🤗👍
Another one bites the dust!!!!
sos un capo,
chavon!!!! desde ARG.
Not sure I would put any of those in my top 20. But certainly all very recognizable.
Nice list
The bassist from muse... had so many to choose from, maybe a muse top 10 should be in order???
to be honest guitarist don't know how much pain us bassist have to go through like wth they have these weird guitar solos that no ones like xd, and then we have the super chill and cool rifts so thank you i appreciate it :)
nice work
Thanks for the songs and tabs.... I am an old cuss so I know quite a few of the originals, so it is nice to help me flesh them out now that I have converted to Bass!
Great instructional video for playing some nice catchy bass lines. Sweet Child O Mine [intro] was surprisingly tasty. Anyway, by far, not even close, not even a little, to the best of all time.
Love how roadhouse blues is on a keyboard
Very surprised Chic - Good Times didn't make an appearance.. cool video though, lots of great tunes there anyhow!
So stoked Dawn Patrol was included.
Dawn patrol is such a killer baseline. I love it!
ty
Great songs for a novice bass player. Variety is always good. Sure, i could think if a thousand more complex bass lines but i like your choice of songs here. Cleanly played.
for me the best bass lines are:
- come together- the beatles
- weapons of brixton- the clash
feel good inc-gorillaz
lounge act-nirvana
I can't stop- hot red peppers
the soldier - iron maiden
kiling in the name of- rage aginst the machine
@@drumscovertercermundista8246 or anything Les Claypool plays
@@williamfabiano543 It is useful too
I’ve noticed that because I’ve got bigger hands than most, a lot of these songs seem super easy since I go 1-4 using only my index and ring finger
sweet emotion...
For Metallica I would say Orion or Pulli g teeth, as for Megadeth Peace Sells is their greatest bass line; although Dawn patrol I s criminally underrated as a song on the Rust in Peace Album.
Surprised no to see here Motorhead, Black Sabbath or iron maiden, in fact, don't believe a word, N. I. B. And powerslave. It will be nice to see it with the tabs in next videos
0:54 come together
1:27 higher ground
2:35 beat it
3:05 come as you are
3:33 feel good inc.
4:02 dawn patrol
5:05 no one knows
6:57 money
7:51 longview
9:25 sunshine of your love
10:00 the god that failed
Thanks dude, I appreciate your help. I was having a hard time figuring out what the last few songs were
Check out the bass tab for "Give it Away" by RHCP
Top!!!
The magnificent seven !!!
Ramble On - Led Zep
Anything Rush
Thanks for the vid, good stuff
Great
How about "For Whom The Bell Tolls" By the late great Cliff Burton?
Bravooooo
I hope that pinky flying around everywhere is for the sake of illustrating which note is being played....
Greta video for someone starting on bass
No one needs a video of the Thunderbrat.
Why the hell are 964 people thumbing this down? Sniders man. Nice video dude
👏👏👏👏 bass lines of electric light orchestra - last train to london slds dsd un lejano pais llamado CHILE 👍
You should check out I'm The One by Descendents, love the whole bass part and super fun to play
Very cool song and bass line! ✌🏻
Cool 😎
Great work dude!!!, try with GUITAR TUNA for better results
And one of the most famous bass lines is Chrissy Hines with the Pretenders "Ohio"
Brian -the song title is “my city was gone”.
And you’re right, great bassline!
Back on the Chain Gang
