One of the most beautiful cars ever made. I had one, and remembering it still makes my heart flutter.
God I love that style Lincoln! I want one in my life!
How much work to fix the motor !! Did you have to over haul the motor !!! Did have put new rins inthe motor
@@thomasmadden1011 dawg r u on drugs
Back when style and design meant something in the Automotive Industry.
Totally agree, now we get a lump of plastic and computer's. The metal we get is recycled a million times and it's thinner. Plastic is the biggest scam in automotive industries, when they start using it for engine's parts.
It still does
Yeah true
And in the beginning of that decade, Lincoln set the standard for styling for the entire industry that was still stuck in post-'50s excess. They also changed a lot of mechanical practices that had been in use for half of ever.

HAHAHAHA!!!
What planet do you live on??
Thanks for lavishing so much attention on that beautiful old continental. Older cars need to be kept running and kept beautiful, because it only has the effect of keeping our highways beautiful. In a sea of amorphous blobs that are modern cars, this continental really stands out.
Thank you for what you're doing to save this masterpiece.
It tears my heart up in pieces to think that she was in mint condition when she was parked and neglected. Some people I'll just never understand.
Had the previous owner not parked it in the woods, this video could not have been made. Most of this vintage of cars, even Lincolns, would have been driven until the transmission or some other major part failed, and then junked a long time ago. Had he taken care of it, it would be far too expensive for most people to afford it, including Budget Buildz. Average price for these in just driveable condition is around $10,000.00, 20 times more than the $500.00 he paid for it. He is very lucky to have found this.
wow..very nice work!! big soft spot for those lincolns. thanks for saving her.
What a transformation! She's a beautiful thing, for sure, mate. It's amazing how the overall look of the car almost totally negates the battle scars and the odd spot where the moths got at her metalwork. You gotta find that 4th hubcap though, eh! Man, that's a beautiful car. You've done her proud, mate. I'll look forward to seeing more of how she goes from here.
Can't wait to see the results of the interior after you finish detailing it! I've always loved these Marks! Unfortunately I couldn't afford one when they were new. My first Mark was a Mark IV... loaded with a sunroof. Looking forward to your next video!
Really like the outcome
Thanks for another great video!
Had to pause for a second to make a recommendation. I'm not sure how often you do paint decontamination, but the best investment you can make is called a Nanoskin Autoscrub sponge. It's a sponge with a synthetic rubber base that acts like a clay bar. Works just as well as actual clay, but can be cleaned, lasts longer and is WAAAAY faster. They are only about $10-$15 depending on what grade you go with. Bought one after reading some recommendations in a detailing forum and have never looked back.
Just my .02, keep up the great work 👍
the worst thing about clay bars is tearing open the package only to have thebar land in the dirt...
@@JailGuide Yep. Drop it anywhere but on the surface you're working on and you have to just throw it in the trash or you'll be destroying the paint with all the grit you pick up.
Can you use just to detail car in good shape?I've got a 2014 lincoln its do for a wax.Ive used clay bar but not on it yet.I put wax on by hand buff off.
@@jd218 Absolutely. Nanoskin offers 3 grades depending on how bad your paint is. The Fine grade is perfect for newer vehicles / well kept paint. The biggest thing to remember is, just like with clay, be liberal with the detailing spray to keep the sponge lubricated. Also be sure to clean / rinse the sponge once per panel. Hope that helps 👍

That car is gorgeous. 4 matching wheels, a new top and fresh black paint? Perfection. Great video!
1969 was the last year for unibody Continentals and first year for the Mark III. So that year was probably a high point in Lincoln quality, at least in terms of materials and craftsmanship. Later in the 1970s there was cost saving and those Lincolns were not as well made but were still quality vehicles.
My favorite body style Lincoln
This channel is just exploding 120k subscribers and a million view videos. Congratulations Michael, I think your enthusiasm is what makes your videos worth watching.
Genuinely amazed how far that paint has come back. Nice work!
Thank you for giving this old girl some much deserved love n respect. She’s still beautiful. Treat her right, get her back to the ball where she belongs. That paint come up real good.
That’s a lot of square footage to polish. Great job! Love the hot rod Lincoln.
It’s come up nicely. Washing, polishing cars is my biggest nightmare, I enjoyed watching you do it 😁😁
Love those old Lincoln Marks' from the 1970's!
GREAT JOB SHE LOOKS WAY BETTER!!
Boy that car sure deserves to be restored! She’s a beauty!👌😎👍
So nice!! looks amazing,
very nice job, keep it going love. that car
Damn it dude.
This made me cry!!!
Thank You for saving her!!!!!
Amazing transformation. Hope you keep working on her. Can only imagine what a beauty she can be.
Beautiful Lincoln mark 3. Those were always my favorite. Awesome car!👍👍👍
Absolutely love the bodystyle of this car
Nice stuff. Seems like because of the chrome strips along the tops of the fenders, you could paint the hood, nose and trunk without being too worried about matching rest of the car exactly
That is a beautiful car! Love the lines on this black beauty...
I must say nothing comes close to American Classics. Nice find. Please take care of her
That’s a good looking car, congrats
That car is definitely a keeper for sure brother. It's night and day with the way she turned out. Keep up the great content.
So nice!
what a find!
Amazing how that Mark III came to shining like that after 32 years. Its paint job held up much better than Frankenstein's. You will, however, need to replace that right taillight lens ASAP before taking her out on roads, especially if failing Recess in kindergarten is a qualification prerequisite for cops in your area. There are lots of source suppliers and even individual sellers that can hook you up, if your local graveyards don't have anything.
A bit of advice, although it doesn't really apply to the theme of this video: You really need to focus deeply on the engine and transmission. If you can access the drain plugs that are in the block on either side, pull them out and see how the coolant looks when it comes out; if it doesn't come out at all, or in drips, you have severe crap clogging the block which can overheat and damage the engine (yes, it's a 460, easy to find replacements, but not the high-compression, high-performance version that this one is). If it's clogged, use your pressure washer to do a blast-flush of the block (and a magnetic probe to poke inside and get out the rusty scaling the pressure washer doesn't force out; you really need to clear those coolant passages. Plus, that engine was fitted with a nylon-lined timing gear, originally meant to run the engine quietly but with an invariable tendency to wear out and break up with age alone. You will need to replace the timing set with an all-steel set; I am certain that was never done before the car's 32-year dormancy. Don't doubt me. It should be easy enough, especially with a shop manual on hand. Also, while you're doing that, make sure that there is a steel plate directly behind the water pump; if there is, DON'T discard it, it's life insurance. If you don't have one, you need to get one, ASAP (again, by aforementioned suppliers and sellers). As for the transmission, it may not indicate anything now, but it will be in need of a rebuild. When it is, you need somebody who's aware of the inherent design flaw in the C-6 transmission and how to remedy that flaw: The clutch packs do not have fluid passages to them, meaning they're totally dependent on splash-lubrication from fluid being sloshed around by rough terrain. That is simply not adequate for a luxury car that spends nearly all its life on paved roads. I learned this from my last rebuilder, who cured the problem by drilling a hole inside the upper part of the casing, tapping it into a fluid passage, and thus creating a steady supply of lubricant for the clutch pack. While you have time, shop around for a transmission mechanic who knows about all of this.
Do you know what year Ford updated the C6 with the extra oil holes. I installed a 70 Lincoln 460 and C6 into my 68 Continental. Does the 70 have the same problem. By the way that 70 C6 shifts smoother than any C6 I ever had. The C6 has never been rebuilt.I did however install new rod and main bearings double roller timing set new main seals.Yes my 460 still had the original nylon timing set. I think engine has less than 100.000 miles on it. And mine has plate behind water pump. The timing covers have open holes in them on the 460.
@@mycontinental3611 Very good; glad to see that your engine still had its insurance plate on it. Yes, those holes were a casting flaw the Ford engineers couldn't fix quickly enough without grinding 460 production to a halt, so they came up with the steel plate to cover up the weak spot in the front cover to prevent coolant from dumping into the crankcase. Many 460s met their demise because clueless or unscrupulous mechanics would ditch them when replacing the water pump or doing some other frontal work on the engine.
It's good the transmission still works well for you. I don't really know whether Ford ever addressed the design flaw in the C-6, although I would think they'd have had to, eventually. My car had that problem and the breakdown because of it, 8 years ago. It was the local transmission rebuilder I used who brought that flaw, and his remedy to it, to my attention.
Wait...you installed a '70 transmission into a '68?? Did you have any trouble swapping out the old slip yoke for the '70-compatible one and mating it to the drive shaft? Or, did you mean a Mark-to-Mark swap?
@@aloysiusbelisarius9992 I did a 70 mark to 68 sedan engine and trans swap. The 70 mark had traditional out put spline .I had a drive shaft made for the Sedan.I still have the original driveshaft and yoke didn't use it.. I had to use a traditional rear trans mount in the rear.I also used 462 motor mounts slotted the holes and made a plate to sandwich to bolt to the 460. The car drives nice and smooth.I have a quick video on my channel. And I found the build sheet. The car is a 460 car .
You're definitely right about that nylon timing gear. I nearly lost the 400 in my '79. Car would barely run no matter what, thought the timing chain was just getting stretched out and when we tore into it we found that gear that was about to fall apart.
She’s lookin good! What a great car to save from the scrap heap.
I know I haven't finished the video yet, but I can't believe how far the Continental has come! From sitting in bushes to running around lookin' shiny!
On another note, I hope the Econoline is doin' well! It'll serve as a great road trip vehicle to National Parks next spring/summer!
Shiny and evil 😈. Nothing can stop the Car.
Michael, thanks for the tip on using compressed air to clean up the polishing pads!
Great job and fantastic save of a beautiful piece of Detroit history
Looks awesome Mike thanks excellent video
Recovered value to a write off, beautiful.
Original Lincoln integrity also apparent to have endured decades long abandonment.
That's amazing I love restoring & not just junking things
Well done. The Mk 3 was the pinnacle of that design language
On top of everything else, I'm loving the reflection of the clouds on the window glass in some of these x10 clips...!
Now this is a great way to spend a weekend!! The Lincoln looks great!!!
Looks real good
That Connie coming back strong
Wow that turned out very nice
Mark 111 was the epitomy of having made it back in the day Every one guy starting out in the world wanted to own a Mark111 I still would love to have one. Yours deserves a cosmetic restoration. Hope you keep moving forward with it. They ride and handle beautifully. Eldorado was in the catagory.
Big daddy is shinning like a diamond 💎 keep up the good work
These old Lincolns are nice cruisers. They just soak up every single bump and dip in the road, and look good doing it.
Love it!!!
Ole Lincoln looking great for her age
Great job. I always liked those old Lincoln Continentals.
Nice looking old lincoln looks sweet it's more of a car than what they make today keep up the good work
WOW!! What a beautiful transformation!
Nice 👍🏾
If you can replace the trunk lid, that would make the care incredible looking for it's age. The trunk lid seems to be the worst part of it.
Compound brought paint
Out ! Sharp car put ice paint job & new top
How the interior
Sharp car
Lid can be repaired
Cool Continental. 😀☺
You did a great job, here's history brought back to life! Thank you great video.
there is nothing cooler than a continental
Beautiful car. Love the way the lines flow on the car. I have an 88 Lincoln Town Car, I need a Continental from the 60s-70s.
I wish I had the space and age to do something similar. It´s a lot of effort but it shows at the end. All the best.
Now that’s a slide ride!
Turned out absolutely awesome 👍👏
I'm happy with your work on this beauty.
Love that Lincoln!
Wow well done that man!!
A great looking yr. for Lincoln. Shines like a diamond.

What a beauty. Great job restoring.
Absolutely awesome job, well done Michael!
It's a beautiful car ..Well done ✔ for the want of a wheel trim ,rust repairs ,vinyl roof repair and bit of welding. It's a long term keeper

Wonderful!!! Thank you for bringing these beautiful old treasures back to life!

Look beautiful..
Beautiful car and nice garage buddy 👍
What a car!
Looks great - what a difference!
She's a beauty. Since trying to find vacuum leaks is a nightmare putting in some electric actuators for the headlight lids is the best/cheapest upgrade for these.
You have every justification to be proud of saving her , what a beauty you have revealed there , with not much more than some love and care .
That car was a great find, I’m glad it found ya 🤙
Cool car. More videos of this baby please
Absolutely. Incredible. Wow. Bold, imposing, handsome. Cars have lost so much over the years. Keep doing what you do please. I love your music!
