I bet those deep tread groves get very uncomfortable if you standing in them for a long period of time.
Their is so much of used tire waste all over the world ,if these used tire could be used for making shoes nd slippers so much rubber waste could be controlled , nice work, great idea., I would like to have a pair nd contribute towards reducing rubber pollution.👍
You know that tires isn't just rubber right ?
It's a mix of rubber and highly carcinogenic chemicals so recycling tires isn't a good idea.
Some company created an entire business on shredding tires for synthetic football pitches or other stuff but scientists and doctors say it's dangerous, multiple states banned the use of shredded tires.
Did you notice those treads were brand new, never been on a tyre? Must have been rejected from tyre factory. Only way to skin the tread off a tyre is using large hydraulic machinery. No way you can cut shapes out of a tyre with a boxcutter blade because of the steel belts in the casing and extra thickness of the tyre.

Should have used foam rubber for the uppers. Those treads are gonna cause blisters, and discomfort. They are very well constructed and will last a long time. One other suggestion is to have some sort of press to get the best bond.

Tarahumara Indians in Mexico have been doing that for a long time. They’ll run 100 miles in a pair that lace up your calf. They only use one side though.

My uncle sent a pair home from Vietnam in the late 1960's.The Vietnamese people sold them to the US soldier's. The tread was on the bottom .
We called them Ho Chi Minh sandals, a lot of poor Vietnamese wore them, single layer, smooth side up. That was over 50 years ago.
These used to be called Soweto Brogues back in the 80's we used to wear them aboard ship all the time.
