    The tournament now really should employ better branding for the tournament and incorporate that with the sponsors cause it really could use work for marketing of the sport to make it feel even grander. It’s just generic sports branding now compared to what we see here in the 90’s. You look at tournaments in other sports. You got each of the Grand Slams in tennis with their own logos and iconography, same with the UEFA Champion League in football. They could do better.

    What a terrible headline to this video. One the greatest snooker finals in history. The headline suggests that English players win matches while Sots players can only steal matches. It’s the same rhetoric you get from patriotic sports commentators. The frame, the match, the tournament was won fair and square by Stephen Hendry who even passed off a free-ball earlier in the match to let Jimmy back in. An example of his impeccable integrity. @Wayne Anthony Holmes it's always sad to see comments like this. I can understand Hendry is hard to be loved player, but not recognising his huge contributions to snooker is sad. Beside the fact he dominated the game for more than 10 years, he really changed the game. And this is well rocognised by all the players, even Roonie said that for few times.

      @lucian-mihaisavulescu115 Před 2 lety

      @Wayne Anthony Holmes i can just guess you are very young, I will spend my time to tell you some facts:
      - Stephen Hendry was borring because he was winning everything within those years. The were only few events and he was constantly winning. If today we'll have any player winning everything the snooker will be borring as well.
      - Stephen was all out on attack. This was a revolution on snooker at that time. Before having Hendry on his prime, the snooker used to be lots more deffensive. That's why I said he was chaning the game at that time.
      - comparing players from 20 years ago with players from current days is always toxic and irelevant. In any sport, snooker included. It's like comparing yourself with your grand father.

    • @chunkylafangaa
      @chunkylafangaa Před 2 lety +2

      @Wayne Anthony Holmes Hendry lived and played in what I call the tamatar era (era of 🍅 ) where there were only a handful of half decent players. However, he introduced the attacking style of play, and there were not as many ranking events in those days, so by comparison, he's still up there by account of how many he's won.
      He faded out not because of the competition (if you can pot, you can pot, no matter whos sitting on the other chair) but because he developed the yips and it disabled him. Once that anxiety kicks in, it never really goes away.

    Hendry looked cool as a cucumber...until Jimmy went ahead. You see him just before Jimmy pots the last red and he looked beaten.
    And then Jimmy twitched. Every night he thinks about that black.

    To be a champion you need BOTTLE something Jimmy will never have. Hence why he’s not a world champion. Embarrassing failure of a career.
