  • In this Video we do a Full Service Tune-up on Friend's Homelite Super XL Automatic Vintage Chainsaw that I put together for him a few years ago. We will give it a thorough cleaning, Check the points and ignition system, Fuel System and Carburetor, Clutch bearing, and Service the Bar and Chain.     Here’s something I learned the hard way if you’re super XL or XL 12 seizes up while running 99% of the time it’s the bolts under the flywheel have backed out against the flywheel love your vid Dan

    Bought a XL12 which has no spark. This should be helpful to check/set the points as a start.

    What is the base setting for the low and high speed screws on the carb? XL12

    Dan, once I get the front of muffler and the screen off. There is a screw that comes out but how do I get the whole muffler off. Do the two posts un screw? TYIA

      Hey Ted, Yes, the studs should unscrew out of the cylinder they are hex shaped and you can get a socket on them...good luck buddy!😁

    I put a carb kit in mine now it starts idles high and ruff only then dies. Has spark and 135 psi compression

      Air leak, possibly crank seals?

      @@KainKustomGarage i thought same thing but it ran before carb kit but ruff. Once I opened carb someone had been in it before there was no screen. I've been in it 3 times samething. I've got a different carb coming gonna try it hopefully this weekend
