I think the two of you would thoroughly enjoy the 9-minute BTS of the cliff jump. It is a great display of dedication by everyone involved, not just Tom. (Yes I call him by his first name too)
Did you guys watch the behind the scenes video of Tom Cruise doing the motorcycle jump? It's insane. And he did it multiple times even though they got a perfect take the first time.
Did y'all notice the callbacks to the first film. 1. Sleight of hand with the keys. Same thing done with The NOC List. 2. Luther being referred to as The Net Ranger & Phineas Freak. The nicknames that Ethan knew Luther by, prior to stealing The NOC List. 3. Henry Czerny as Eugene Kittridge, director of the CIA helping Ethan. He was the former boss of the IMF, who thought Ethan went bad, when he didn't.
I think Ethan's reaction to Ilsa's death (and Cruise's acting) suggests she is dead for good. He showed more emotion here over the shock he expressed when his wife was shot in MI3. Plus the team explaining to Grace what she meant to them seemed to hammer it home.
I really hope Ilsa isn’t really dead. I knew once they announced Haley was coming on board that Rebecca was probably going to leave the series. I like Haley a lot but Rebecca was the best female character to ever grace this series thus far.
As much as I love Rebecca Ferguson/Ilsa Faust, I hope they don't do some kind of resurrection bullshit. She's dead, it's sad, she was amazing, but someone has to die sometimes if the stakes are so high and killing a great character has more impact than killing someone we don't care about.
As a proud Norwegian, the last sequence is shot in Norway, same as the big rock in the last movie where Cavill and Cruise fought. Although the counties mentioned are not Norway
Speaking of Uncharted, Grace could be the female version of Nathan Drake as both of them are thieves and orphans. PS: Matter of fact, the Entity reminds me of The Patriot AIs in the MGS series.
I honestly didn’t know Pom Klementieff had range. I thought all she could do was play Mantis in guardians of the galaxy but I was really terrified with her performance in this one. I was truly wrong. She nailed it in this.
She was utterly unhinged in the car chase... just raw violent rage and angry joy... and then to the disbelief at being saved by Ethan. And again when she does save Ethan. She was a really cool character.
If you think the shot of him taking the bike off the cliff is insane... watch the video the released on how they did it. It's practical. And almost the only CGI in the shot is covering the ramp with the ridge to match the location. Tom rode that bike, off an enormous ramp, thousands of feet up a sheer cliff, and parachuted down. They had a helicopter, two drones, and a crane cam to cover it. And it is absolute insanity. The train... was also real. They couldn't find one to rent so they had to build one. And that's real track, with a real train, AT SPEED, and they are fighting on top of it. For real. The engine going over is also real. They actually did that, but in a quarry in England. It splashes into some water in the bottom, but they digitally added in all the scenery around the train. But the splash itself is mostly real They did a VERY good job mixing practical and CGI in this film. And this one feels extremely different than all the others. That opening was chilling. The music is far more intense. It feels a lot more scary. And seeing everyone constantly misjudge what the entity wants is kind of fun. "I'm the only one who knows where it is." Dude, that's what it wants. Easier to kill just 1 and be hidden forever.
I think the best parts of this movie (besides the stunts obviously) is the sleight of hand callback to MI1 and the POTENTIAL callback to MI3 with The Entity being the Anti-God that Benji references as this world ending technology.
I just noticed the sleight of hand trick. Didn’t catch the reference in the theater. The easter eggs in this series are so well done. Really rewards long time fans.
Oh yes! Finally. Watched this 3x in the cinemas, was absolutely amazing. The Fiat car chase was brilliant and the train scene had me on the edge of my seat. Prob my fav movie of this yr. Tom Cruise does it again 💪🏼
Basically, this is one long film cut into two movies. Part 1 is about getting the key. Part 2 will be about finding and boarding the sub, so they can use the key to gain access to the entity.
It has become hard for me to feel bad for Ethan each time he loses a romance interested because he is just so damn fast to replace them. When he makes that eye connection on the train with Grace at the end I'm like Ilsa isn't even cold yet bro.
I remember back in 2019. Paramount, Skydance and Cruise himself announced back to back sequels:part 7 for 2021 and part 8 for 2022. The pandemic pushing back everything. Production on Part 1 wrapping up, the first trailer dropping and announcing the beginning of the end to the franchise was exciting. This was definitely worth the admission. Brilliant story, even better cast and plenty of shockers. These action sequences are all incredible and steady keep you on the edge. Well constructed for Cruise to do his thing and other actors getting into the action as well. I did see this on IMAX and enjoyed every minute. This was one of the better films out among many failing blockbusters. Dead Reckoning Part Two was hallway through filming when the actors strike started. But now that it's over, they've pushed the release date to 2025. Another long wait (perhaps) and it'll be worth it like the last one.
Really impressed how on trend this is. I mean, this was made over the last two years or more, yet the argument about Ai and where it's taking us, has only just hit the headlines.
Now, Tom does indeed do alot of his stunts, way more than other actors. But people are really starting to overestimate how much a person can do safely. He wears wires, some shots does not have real environment etc. The big stunt here shot in, Norway may I add :DDD, is real with a ramp, but not everything in these movies
Thank you. I try to explain this as well. Yes he is doing the stunt, but where he is doing it may not actually be where it looks. For instance, the fight on top of the train was 100% real, shot on a moving train, etc. Obviously wires. Also obviously CGI to remove all the wires. The halo jump in the last one. Very real. Clouds and Paris were completely added in CGI. The train car jumps, clearly they are jumping from thing to thing, but almost certainly those were green screen and replaced later. The train really crashed off the bridge, but it was into a quarry with a little pond in England. They replaced 100% of the scenery with CGI. Them floating in the train as it falls... more than likely a set piece in a box, greenscreen out windows for the scenery replace after, with both of them on harnesses as well as the set on a drop platform of a few feet. Then they drop the box, harnesses drop them slower so their hair, arms etc float up and then drop them faster down to the deck as it stops dropping. Overcrank the camera to get the slower motion in the middle. All of the floating debris etc would be digitally added after, or done as a separate shot and digitally composited.
Great reaction like always this movie is EPIC, and what a twist i didnt expect Ilsa dying. but i understand Ilsa's death is a turning point for the franchise, as it deeply affects Ethan Hunt and sets up emotional stakes for the upcoming film. It also creates a personal grievance against Gabriel, adding another reason for vengeance, But she will appear in the next MI8 movie as flashbacks moments. And some funfacts about this movie, Cruise's co-star Pom Klementieff says there is one stunt Cruise was not on board with while filming. During a fight sequence set in Venice, Klementieff asked the actor to kick her in the stomach, which he absolutely refused to do. "I kept telling him to just kick me here," the actress says. "I was squeezing abs. [I said], 'You can just go for it.' He was like 'No, no, no, no, no.' I was like, 'But it's going to help me!' But he wouldn't do it." Cruise destroyed six motorcycles in just one day while filming, by driving them off a cliff. "In terms of this movie, definitely the motorcycle jump [was the scariest]," McQuarrie says. Vanessa Kirby says filming was so specific, she did 40 takes of her simply picking up a key. "We did 40 takes of picking up a key, and it was so fun because actually, you realize by take 30, you're thinking as an actor, yeah, you're just picking up a key, but I thought, 'How many ways can a human being pick up a key?'" she says. Keep up the amazing work.
Well, it builds on the existing personal grievance with Gabriel. He shot a woman Ethan was closed to in the past which according to Ethan and Kittridge is what led him to IMF. And now Gabriel has killed another woman he was close to. It's setting up a similar situation in which Ethan can make the same mistake he did before, or chose a different route with better consequences. (My guess at least based on storytelling).
I couldn’t WAIT for you guys to do this one! I treat each movie individually before thinking of it as part of the series. Because of that, I can say this is probably my favorite action movie of all time. And I’ve seen a LOT!
I personally think Ilsa is alive. I think the reason why Luther and Benji didn’t have much reaction is because they were in on it. They discussed it after they told Ethan that they can’t matter more than the mission and he walked out of the room.
I love that he did the bike jump something like 18 times, and on the first couple days of filming, because, basically, "if I get killed doing this, there's no point in making the rest of the movie."
This movie is fantastic! Great reaction as always! I have a recommendation for y’all it is the tv show Banshee it is super underrated and overlooked! It has a decent story with well written characters and just a crazy wild ride all around!
This has to be the BEST reaction of all time. It is the purest form of you two and is what I would show folks looking for a great reaction channel. The comedy, the chemistry and the reaction (of course). This is truly why yall are my favorite.
Saw this in the theater. Really good. Didn't feel like part 1 of a movie which I guess is good because it's no longer considered part 1 and is know it's own movie with the part 1 removed. Can't wait for MI 8 in 2025.
This franchise will soon be catching up with the fast and Furious, which is wild considering what age Tom cruise is now, and how long he has been playing "Ethan Hunt"..Hayley is a cool addition to the team. Am Hoping Paris [Mantis] survives she could be an interesting addition to the team as well. Cool Reaction 👍 🇬🇧
I saw this movie 12 times in the theater. It was hot outside and this movie was long in air conditioning ... plus the amc seats recline all the way back. I nearly memorized the movie.
Ooooh good call! After this kind of action film, definitely. She did the voice for Lara recently in _Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft_ on Netflix.
Tom did the mountain jump 6 times, they did fight on top of a train, it was doing 60 mph and they did crash a train, only it crashed into a quarry, the valley was added afterwards
Literally one of the best movie theater experiences I’ve ever had. Saw this movie 3 times and it’s still not close to enough. A true masterpiece of modern day cinema
@@sirimity Lmao saaame. And imagine I had to experience this film a 2nd time because I had bought tickets to watch it with my family prior to 1st seeing it by myself... Had to pretend I was loving it as well to not spoil it for them
Did you guys notice Adrian Bouchet (Steapa from The Last Kingdom) in the opening sequence? He was one of the guys in the submarine. I am really angry about Ilsa, am hoping she isn't actually dead.
Kittridge is really awesome in this. LOVE his character. He really plays the role of spook very well. At the beginning he seems almost like he's against Ethan, but by the end, he knows Ethan's goal of killing the Entity is the right and only path forward, and he supports him in that, as much as he can. And the whole idea that each of them was given a choice to join the IMF or face whatever consequences awaited them is intriguing. Everyone in this absolutely killed it. I can not wait for the finale and I'm just sad that we won't get any more. But what an insane ride we got.
For me, the best IMF chief. Henry Czerny rewrote a lot of his lines and that made his dialogues even better. For a moment, i thought Kittridge was gonna be screwed by the writers being the villain in the end, but they respected the caracter story, putting him as a "shady" good guy.
I keep forgetting about Wesley. He will always be Robin Hood in my head first. I love the Star Wars reference followed by the Twilight later. Lolz and the Magic Man
Listen, I’m just happy to see Esai Morales in a huge franchise. I remember being mesmerized in the first thing I saw him in - La Bamba. I attended a sneak preview back in the day!
This one was so good. I honestly had no idea the whole time that Paris was Mantis from Guardians until I watched this 🤣 and the acting was on point, when Ethan tells Grace “Your life will always matter more to me than my own” and you can see her start to tear up a bit, that actually got me lol I was like wth 😂
You won’t have to wait much longer for Part 2 either! Because it comes out next year! Which puts us much closer to it coming out, but sadly could be the end of Tom Cruise’s journey in the franchise.. which has been a rumor, but supposedly the franchise will continue somehow I guess.
Grace ,our damsel in distress is the worst, gets told not to do something, does it anyway, ethan spends most of the time rescuing her,and it was her fault illsa died.
So was the empty UR Dunn bomb with the cypher actually there to record Benji's voice so it could impersonate him when it needed to? Recording all his responses?
May of 2025!! 🤨😡😔 We have a year and 3 ish months ish! 🤣 Idk about y'all, but I will see it in the theater on opening day!! But I can't wait to see your reaction to it! 😁

The Mission Impossible franchise is what Vin Diesel wishes the F&F franchise could be. I swear every entry in the MI series is better than the last.
11:36 I'm a bit sad no one ever catches the callback to the first film: "Kittridge, you've never seen me very upset!"
There are so many clever callbacks that people don't catch.
I think Ethan's reaction to Ilsa's death (and Cruise's acting) suggests she is dead for good. He showed more emotion here over the shock he expressed when his wife was shot in MI3. Plus the team explaining to Grace what she meant to them seemed to hammer it home.
No but the way he was just numb when he saw his wife being shot that looked more heartbreaking than when he found Ilsa
ye he looked sadder when his "wife" was shot in MI3
I really hope Ilsa isn’t really dead. I knew once they announced Haley was coming on board that Rebecca was probably going to leave the series. I like Haley a lot but Rebecca was the best female character to ever grace this series thus far.

All I know is that Esai Morales has aged VERY well. I had a crush on him after La Bamba. He still looks great! ❤️
Great movie
I remember wanting to doomsday prep after this movie.
The driving sequence was so much fun 😂
your reactions are always fun, thank you. The yellow car is a cult car in europe, with his own name: "Bambino".
Listen, I’m just happy to see Esai Morales in a huge franchise. I remember being mesmerized in the first thing I saw him in - La Bamba. I attended a sneak preview back in the day!
The Actor who plays Steapa in The Last Kingdom Was one of the Crew on the Submarine in the opening scene :)
59:05 scene. Buttermere, Lake District, England.
Tom Cruise is great in action, but also has a good bunch of dramatic and thriller roles trough his earlier career. Magnolia is amazing.
Had the exact same thought as Nikki during that fight scene with Paris in the alley: "Tickle her?" 😂
This one was so good. I honestly had no idea the whole time that Paris was Mantis from Guardians until I watched this 🤣 and the acting was on point, when Ethan tells Grace “Your life will always matter more to me than my own” and you can see her start to tear up a bit, that actually got me lol I was like wth 😂
When I saw the stairs in Rome - I was saying "Family" cause it was in the latest Fast and Furious, movie...
You won’t have to wait much longer for Part 2 either! Because it comes out next year! Which puts us much closer to it coming out, but sadly could be the end of Tom Cruise’s journey in the franchise.. which has been a rumor, but supposedly the franchise will continue somehow I guess.
I don’t think it’s a rumor, it’s just the probably very harder-to-believe intent.
Too bad I missed the live stream for this one!
2009 ninja assassin movie reaction please 💓💗💖💖
lol I just watched this movie the other day and had that very same "tickle her" thought.
you have to react to the BTS of the cliff jumping
So not only was the jump real, but they built that train.....ready for pt 2
The best mission impossible along with Rogue Nation ! 🍿
Glad that they disambiguated 'IMF.'
Grace ,our damsel in distress is the worst, gets told not to do something, does it anyway, ethan spends most of the time rescuing her,and it was her fault illsa died.
45:50 - it's so amazing, he does his own stunts, you can really tell that's him in that... um... long distance shot thoroughly enhanced with CG. 😂
it's him. there's a behind the scenes with that stunt, and it's the first thing they shoot for the movie.
Nikki, yes Esai Manuel Morales Jr. aka Gabriel played Camino Del Rio on "Ozark".
Day 1 of asking to react to daredevil (series)
So was the empty UR Dunn bomb with the cypher actually there to record Benji's voice so it could impersonate him when it needed to? Recording all his responses?
That Ferrari in Rome will be such a liability to drive
May of 2025!! 🤨😡😔
We have a year and 3 ish months ish! 🤣
Idk about y'all, but I will see it in the theater on opening day!! But I can't wait to see your reaction to it! 😁
Cool bringing Kitridge back. Takes me back to 1 as they get into the end here
Ethan handling that key like a NOC disk...
The jump was real, by the way. He did it in real life. From a ramp, of course. He did that. There’s a fantastic video by paramount on it.
This AI stands for Anarchy Invention. The yellow car doing donuts looked like a scrambled egg commercial. Somebody get Nikki an anxiety pill.
Absurd? GENIUS!
Agreed, it looks like a Cerebro.
