I remember one time I went to a WWE live event in LA. I shouted Mike Chioda when it was a bit quiet, and little by little real wrestling fans started shouting his name out as well. He's truly the best referee in professional wrestling; he's worked on some of the biggest matches and made the right calls when any wrestler got or nearly injured.

The one Mike Chioda moment for me that I will always remember is Judgment Day 2002 and its Hell In A Cell between Triple H and Chris Jericho. Y2J has Hunter in the Walls Of Jericho on top of the cell, and Mike Chioda makes the INCREDIBLY bold decision to climb up to the top of the cell as well and officiate the rest of the match up there, where he could have EASILY fallen off and potentially killed himself with just one misstep.

True story: After a Smackdown in 2002 or 2003, Mike Chioda let me and my two friends into the ring as they were breaking everything down for the night. We ran in, shook the ropes, took a bump, and ran out. Mike was super cool to us.
Edit: It's actually hilarious that most of you guys don't believe me. If you knew more you'd even believe less, so, it just is what it is. Like the one guy said, it was a common occurrence back in the day that if you stuck around after a show and got down to the floor, you could talk to these guys and get into some pretty cool stuff, as long as they trusted you.

"Shane had a lot to prove.."
Thats the thing though, he didnt. He didnt have to prove anything to anybody. He's the son of the owner (at the time). He doesnt, not one time, have to ever actually be in the ring. Not one time fall from the top of the titantron, not go throuh one gimmicked table, or through (what was supposed to be) gimmicked glass.
He didnt have to do any of that, while still having a place in that company. Not too dissimilar from his father. But the fact that they DID do that stuff, when they had no obligation to do it, especially from Shane, is the reason I have *always* respected him as a performer. Ive rarely *liked* him, which is a credit to him (and naturally his dad) being able to just easily getting me to hate them... but my respect for him putting himself in spots he never once needed to be in, while learning everything he needed to be as safe for himself and whoever he was working with, as he possibly could while not being a full-time talent, never needed to be proven.

Well, what the heck are you supposed to do when the gimmick doesn't work? Stand around stupid and repeat the spot, hoping it finally does?

Vince wanted to end the show with Shane hitting the glass. But no problem continuing the show when Owen Hart died. Really?

Vince wanted him to stop the match, yet had ZERO problems going on to continue a show where OWEN HART fell 100 feet from the rafters and died in the ring.
    Priorities, I guess......

Owen hart wasn’t his son, shane is so of course it’s different. Vince should have stopped the show when the Owen death happened too but it’s different when it’s your son

You're clearly a moron but there's a difference between a wrestler taking more punishment and a show going on after a death. But like I said you're a moronic virgin so why am I wasting my time

So Shane is bloody getting thrown through glass and Vince wants the match stopped, but Owen Hart falls from the rafters of a building into the ring and falls to his death and he gets scraped off the mat like garbage and they send the next match out and the show continues on. Hmm, makes sense.

Don't think it went down quiiiite like that, and those are very different things lol. Still wasn't the best way to handle it, but not comparable.

    • @QualityEJC

You cannot compare the two. Vince had the audience to fulfil with the main event and sponsors that paid for their advertising slots. He did what was best for business.

This’ll sound cold and heartless but it’s the simple difference between the 2 situations:
Shane could have got more hurt, Owen couldn’t have got more dead.

    • @HunterGuy558
      @HunterGuy558 Před 6 měsíci

Two completely different situations, don't use Owen's death to try to look like your making a point about something.
