- Multiversus is one of my favorite games that came out last year, and now it's going to be closing down to fully release next year, so let's discuss what went wrong with it, and if it will make a comeback!
This week is "Dead Week" where I play games that I once covered that are now "dead" or on life support and discuss what exactly went wrong! I will go more in depth at the end of the week with a main channel video!

My main issue of this game is it never feels like anything has weight behind it. It always feels like I'm hitting with a wet noodle
A game with amazing prices for cosmetics is definitely deep rock galactic and more games should follow how it's dlcs are

Season 3 was mediocore
I think a game with a good BP and cosmetics is for honor
So the problems I had with this game were:
- It was little bit more grindy then what I would like.
- I was with default skin from start to end
- The game started feeling too repetitive for me. Like I sometimes love the game to be repetitive but here I was literally feeling like game 1 and game 2 were the same
- There was no real progression. As you said I can just spam and win and in game you could feel it.
-This is big only me thing but I would like to see mod support. Awaking the moddimg community is a big thing even with the more uhm content. I always love when a game allows mods. It shows that the devs trust in the community and if the community lose there trust they can stop it.
Not to forget that they hated the idea of players getting free things fast (at launch, I'd you played it fairly constantly you could all the content fairly easy) so they made the game extra grindy.
Then, they stopped launching actual content and all the changes they made were for the worse.

I think its too late too saying this but if you want good fighting game try rivals of aether its also hsve Mode support! And good optimisation!

This game got virtually every creator to sponsor them,and I feel like that hype/clout the game got blinded us and the devs from seeing the problems in the game. The game also had it coming as a fighting game because of how hard it is for new fighting ips to grow
@@bluemanjoe1238 yeah but isn't that with every game though? I've played through the test betas and had a great time overall with the game. It's got problems that were already addressed, but it isn't necessarily dead, it's dormant. I'm just surprised with how far this small group of developers have come, how in such a short span of time, they got y'all shaken. Anyway, I've been focused on a bunch of new games, they've caught my attention and it's normal to do so. Y'all milking the term "dead game" says a lot though 🤭 not surprised anyway 🤓

I think the issue with multiverse is the unbalanced characters as well as the slow gameplay. I HATED how punished you were because of character movesets being slower than others. It felt like as a shaggy main? I was frequently being combo'd by Arya mains due to slower hits and air momentum being so incredibly slow.
fr unbalance was a big problem

@@vampist Dodge jumping is a dumb mechanic, since it is not easy to pull off, which means that only the most experienced players can utilise it frequently.
It’s not friendly to newcomers.
Shaggy was one of the easiest characters you were just bad
The game had basically 0 post release marketing
😔 I knew it would happen I just wish it didn’t
a couple of problems were
1: they stopped adding characters after marvin
2: game was unbalanced, certain characters were simply too weak or op
3: was pretty laggy at times.
i hope all of this gets fixed when multiversus comes back. in the games defense, it was in beta and not fully launched yet.
Just brought back a memory of me celebrating me bodying someone only to realize I was watching the wrong character and I was falling off the map

I said under many different posts and saying it again; biggest problem with this game is its netcode. You can’t understand if you are hitting or being hit because lag spikes are all over the place and its netcode hitreg is incredibly broken…
No, it's because it's another live service in a oversaturated market, within another oversaturated market of smash clones. Nobody actually cared enough to keep playing this when it gets easily overshadowed. The same reason people don't wear fake shoes even though they may look nice. It doesn't feel like it's trying to be it's own thing no matter how good it looks.

I was a top 2% 1v1s player in this game… it was a shame to see it die, im thinking about coming back for rerelease if it’s hyped again and I wish I could have gone into tourneys
I loved this game, and I feel one of it's big problems was its a little more complex than most platform fighters. Pretty much every character has a unique mechanic, morty has grenades, stripe and marvin the martian have lock on, rick has his portal gun, and unless you activly look up the guides on the multiversus youtube, you don't really understand them which limits the games casual appeal. I wish each character had a tutorial explaining their moves.
Well it’s intended you look up guides or study your opponent? To find counters. It’s not like it don’t exist you’re just lazy to do so.

This game has so much potential, it’s insane. As I said a few times during the stream I shall go ahead and list what can make this game great. More party/fun game modes, more characters that we know and love, make movement feel a tiny bit better, more goofy items but keep them for party game modes, a shield mechanic, slower cooldown to moves, and SCOOBY DOOBY DOOOOOO! If they did all of that, this game could get close to smash level of gameplay and fun mechanics.

@dalan8590 they released for feedback and they saw the success so they expanded the beta I don't think It was a year at all but they took time off made a new net code and actually took time instead of releasing a unfinished game you should respect them for thant they actually care about the fans I guarantee it's gonna go crazy number like the beta

Adding a popular character may get people to play, but it doesn’t solve the multitude of issues the game has.
Everyone lost interest in the game, faster than your dad losing interest in you☠️
ngl its pretty funny how whenever there is a new platform fighter people say its a smash killer and it dies a year later
The biggest problem is one character is have a ton of things to do and cramped in one character, it take too long to feel good to play

When Multiversus first released I was all over it day 1 I already had a level 11 Harley Quinn ( who in my opinion is the best character, her set was completely OP)
Nah, bugs and velma existed. Especially bugs.
It’s never released you were playing a beta
One thing That sounded good was the attack decay for using a certain move too much but the execution was horrible it happened way to much without even having to spam the move it will give you attack decay, and for characters like morty and finn who only have a few strong attacks it really hirta there character.
I think they could fix it to where it you use nothing but that move 3 times in a row and then give you that decay it would be wayyyy better so you dont get punished for doing a combo
but they announced the game will be coming back in 2024 with new characters modes and maps etc
I played this game for hours during its peak. Bugs, Harley, and Morty are easily the most fun for me
there was also some sort of server issue I swear I never got in the game due to that

I think Rivals of aether and Rushdown revolt did it correctly when changing up mechanics. And Rivals 2 is coming out next year which looks like it is going to be phenomenal

i feel like they should've done some more unique stuff like for example you dont really see fighting games with unique gamemodes so one with some fun gamemodes or a gamemode would've been cool.
for example something like a raidboss where it would be a 2v1 or a 3v1 where one player is just really strong

Just me who likes how the game feels? I like how it’s like quick and responsive smash feels so clunky and not as responsive
MVS movement is infinitely better than Brawlhalla, never played Smash tho.

Duuuude, just hearing you mention all the IPs that Disney owns makes me giddy thinking of how cool a smash-like 2d fighter from them would be. Just imagine Hulk and Obi-Wan duking it out on the Black Pearl, or something like that!

5:50 this is a platform fighter if the game does not work as a good platformer then it wont be a good platform fighter, platforming is half the subgenre, and multiversus jumping feels terrible especially when compared to smash, rivals, brawlhalla, and I have not bought fraymakers yet lol

The biggest issue is the fact that it was only a certain region exclusive release for about a year now
2:50 dont forget brawlhalla and rivals of aether their communities are very dedicated, and I think multiversus introduced some players to the subgenre and so they have a bit more players than before

The main issue for me was when I played the game it was always so laggy and would have high ping

The problem with this game is mainly the progression. I got bored after unlocking 1 character after so long, meanwhile they were adding 1 like every week. And the lack of modes, the didn’t have ranked until months later. no LTM’s or something creative. Lack of maps. Bad servers with bad hit reg. And the 2v2 was too chaotic and hard to follow. Lack of communication from developers. Balance patches took way too long. Expensive cosmetics for characters that are so small
Lol I was always surprised the game never launched in India (and other major countries) but now I don't have to worry about waiting anymore.
I can still pray for Nintendo to come to India though. Sigh.

They need to make it in Multiversus in 2v2 it isn’t set of lives for the team but personal lives just so u don’t lose if ur team mate is ass
12:59 they should look at smash ult, smash melee, brawlballa, and rivals of aether those are the giants of the genre, and blocking is a good mechanic, smash did it kinda bad so I see why ppl think its a bad mechanic, but traditional fighters do it better
honestly id say the problem for me and other middle eastern gamers was the server support. There was no server in the middle east which made the game very very jittery. That was the main problem which stopped me from enjoying the full potential of the game.
Second reason for me was the repetitiveness of the game. doing the same combos every match got boring. it was super fun to learn tho and improve. I grinded arya to like level 23 or 24 and thats when i stopped playing. then the game went downhill and people stopped playing it.
the movement in multiversus is actually fun, the wave dash and how fast you can go is so fun

A big thing i feel they were missing as well was that they had no good villain characters, Harely quin is an anti hero, they only added black adam for the movie release that bombed, and the gremlins are from a movie made in the 80's, I doubt even a quarter of the player base has actually ever seen the gremlins movie lol. compared to smash bros you have really awesome villain characters like ganadorf, bowser, bowers jr, Ridely, and even somthing like Sephiroth. Multiverses lacks any cool villains with that bit of dark angst to play as. makes the whole game feel very kiddish even with having rick and morty as character's. They should have added the Litch from adventure time, or things like peridot, jasper, or maybe even SPINEL from steven universe, people would have LOVED that because there would be at least SOME darker characters that aren't as loony or as kid friendly as the rest of the cast that would help make the game more widely appealing in general. (seriously the fact that the first and only dc villain on the cast was purely added for marketing purposes really tells a lot about how this game dipped from the main stream)

! spent 100 Euros on the Founderpack and i loved the Game and im a big Fan of Rick and Morty and i was hyped af when the trailer released but after 3 weeks or so the Game was unplayable it took forever to find a Match and if u found one you played against high level Characters that would combo you so good that u would have no chance to even attack them
The fighting was so JANKY I wished it was smoother like SSBU
A punch felt like Goku wearing weighted clothing, it was just slow and some of the characters were just not my type of play style (not a great excuse just a skill issue on my end I know)
But characters from SSBU felt compatible no matter how you played in multiverses it was just difficult to play and think "how do you use them properly"
Overall I hope when it comes back in early 2024, the entire game will be less janky and tons of fun
Usually they don't release a season pass if they know they will shut it down Or itemshop, I remember valorant and rogue company didn't. I don't even think overwatch 2 did that

I stopped because I used main Jake since the beginning but when they brought that free rotation crap I lost my level 25 Jake behind a pay wall that was never there, no free character token to compensate and lost my character
for me it was like that when i first started, it kept giving me wonder woman when i dint want that which is mainly why i quit, id have to get good at characters i dint even want or know.
It's not a "paywall" you can literally buy him with coins, he cost 3k and all you have to do is play to get them. Haven't spent a single dollar unlocking characters

Such a shame, it's already dying despite the time people kept calling it a "Smash killer". Hopefully when this game comes back early 2024, this game will be available in my country. I just don't understand why it isn't available here.
Nick All Star and Multiversus really need to do a merger. Keeping the core elements of Multiversus (free to play, easy to get into, items, voice lines, supporting competetive play and tournaments etc) while introducing ideas from All Star (faster gameplay, fun stages (for non competitive), additional characters and moves) would elevate the game to actually have the opportunity to compete with Brawlhalla or even Smash.
No. They're different studios and different games.
MVS was way better than Brawlhalla, even with a few characters being stupidly op. It was also way more playable than Brawlhalla beta.
