What about harley Quinn maybe? She seemed like she would be better in 1v1s then 2v2 but maybe I'm wrong i played alot of harley but i only played 1v1s. I hope one day they release Robin and his kit somehow makes him the perfect partner for Batman in doubles. It just feels right.

Seriously, Multiversus gets too much undeserved hate. Yes, making a beta have multiple seasons, 100 dollars packs and such, for it just to shut down (even through they already said it was going to shut down, but still) was definitely a bad idea. But that's not on the devs. That's on Warner for trying to squeeze all the money possible.
The devs are doing it awsome through. You can see how much love they put to the game by looking at the movesets of the characters. It's simply fantastic.

Now that the game has been out for about a day, the meta has definitely changed a lot with the new game mechanics
I was ranked 36 in the world for batman in 2s only and i heavily disagree that batman is bad in 2s. Bro is so fast, he can get kills off his teammates like with his up special if they get knocked near the top and with battarang from across the screen if a teammate barely doesn't finish the job. Not to mention, his bat bomb is insanely good at finishing the job for his teammates. Overall, he deals lots of damage very fast and what hit lacks in raw killpower in doubles, he makes up for with speed, his ability to capitalize off his teammates, and screen control with grappling hook and battarang.
Yeah these are all very true.
I think the argument I was trying to make is that he's designed to be more heavily leaning in 1's than in 2's, not necessarily that he's worse in said format. I definitely overstepped when I started saying he was bad in the format.
After doing a good amount of research for the video I'm working on after this, I was proven that he's actually very strong in 2's.
Also, this guy was technically also the only guy to beat me in a Multiversus local bracket back when my tag was KidPixKid and he did it with a random guy who pulled up with Iron Giant.

I'm so incredibly happy to find these sorts of videos for Multiversus, I always found this game to be one of the most interesting platform fighters ever made because of it's focus on doubles while not leaving 1v1s behind, so it pleases me to find more analyrtical videos on the game, I'm eager to see what content you make for the full release of the game

1:56 Brawlhalla is probably the first. definitely ahead of mvs since it came out years before but mvs snd Brawl are the only 2 Fighting games I’ve heard that have a good 2v2 and 1v1 seen. Great vid btw very well put together

As a Finn player, him is doubles certainly feels like his calling and even though he doesn't change much strategy wise in ones outside of some things not really helping much,I feel like Finn works in both and Was my key into how characters work in this game, Great video

I mained Reindog and played 1v1 only. He is definitely not weak in 1v1 despite how he is introduced in this video. He is a zoner with slow projectiles that make it hard to approach him.
This is a great video! I do think you are a little quick to say that multiversus is the first fighting game to design with 2v2s in mind however. I’m not super familiar with brawlhalla, but I do know that 2v2s is popular in that game and is balanced around.
I main Iron Giant and Garnet. Batman was wonder of the better (random) partners for me. Diagonally team ceiling laddering is fun.
I remember playing batman in doubles, and just forcing 1v1s. Sometimes in doubles its 2 1v1s going down at the same time, so as batman you learn to avoid them when they're together and only attack when theyre both dealing with your teammate at the same time or when 1v1s happen
I love playing superman. In both 2v2s and 1v1. Especially pre-nerf

Little nitpick about reindog, I was top 12 reindog world in 2s btw. So reindog in 1s isn't that bad, his main gameplan is about either gimbing or have space control and doing damage, his recovery is not bat but more decnt to good, his ballform give him a lot of mouvement or can stop it and he can stal whit up air, so you can mix up. Reindog is also really good to referce edgue guard because of the bouncy projectile he has so be careful if you wanna spike a reindog. But yaeh great video btw👍
I took the best character for 2v2’s(reindog) and religiously only played him in 1v1’s cause I don’t enjoy having teamate but love the quirky green dog😭

Ngl, I loved fighting batman in 1s, unlike SOME PEOPLE he wasn't just annoyingly oppressive, I always felt like I could fight back and losing was a skill issue.
While reindog still absolutely sucks in 1v1s, something I was surprised wasn't mentioned was his amazing movement, it's the only thing keeping him remotely viable in 1s. Granted it'll probably all be removed on the re-release bc they made the game 10 times slower, but it was a huge facet of his kit.

Anyone remember playing 2v2 in mk9 and you could play solo controlling 2 characters or with a friend and you control 1 character, but that wouldnt stop the enemy from also being 2 persons or just one, i miss that mode i use to cordinate combos with my friend for when he tagged me in❤

Where can I watch tournaments for this game? I can’t play it myself cause it’s just too clunky, but it seems interesting to watch
At the moment, the beta servers are down in preparation for the games full release on May 28th.
Once it drops, you can expect to see a ton more tournaments!
There are a few fun vods to watch from the beta though if you're really itching for it. The Evo 2022 vod is really interesting, and even has a fun storyline after winners finals, where the players in winners side say that they're not worried at all about the competition but then get humbled in grands.

Servers were the problem last year when WB took down their game completely... Here's hoping they fixed a lot.
They haven’t really said much about the 2 vs 2 meta since the relaunch and the new character trailers don’t really talk about it either, i think they might be moving by away from it
Wait so is multiversus still up? I tried playing a few days ago but it didn’t let me it forced me into like tutorial and offline even tho my progress was saved
The offline mode/lan is still available for those who downloaded the game before it went down.
The full game releases on May 28th though with improved servers, improved graphics, new characters, new modes and new combat mechanics!
Making MVS content to get more eyes back on the game and raise awareness leading up to the games official release!

I wrongly assumed it was a forced-online title since it's heavily "live service" focused. Never tried booting the game while offline, nor attempted to open it after I heard the beta servers closed.
I guess I _should've_ expected otherwise due to how closely tied together platform fighters and LAN-based competitions are.
I'm one of those weird 1v1 Gizmo mains and it's so much fun
After I scripted and edited this, I actually reached out to some of the best Gizmo players and they actually told me he was better in 1's because of some bad glitches he had in 2's so it may not have been that weird after all!

Why does no one stop moving in fighting games? Is that so you are more unpredictable?
That's an interesting topic tbh.
It does in fact make your less predictable so a lot of players try not to stand still with this in mind, but it can also be a bad habit, as people often unintentionally give their opponents hints on movement timings.
For example, if you constantly move back and forth, an good opponent can notice this and be sure to time an attack and you're moving forward.
In platform fighters it’s to make spacing harder, avoid a laggy dash, to approach or retreat or to find openings from misspaced attacks
It's about unpredictability in part but also keeping your options open. Movement requires acceleration, and by being moving quickly in various directions at all times, you can at any moment actually commit to a big movement to do something instead of being forced to wait on an acceleration when you see a good time to strike. It's also the case that a huge skill push between different players is just raw apm, and if you think you're the better player in a game, a good strategy is just forcing the pace of the game to be really fast and overwhelming your opponent who can't keep up with your raw action count. Since in any game someone will actually be the better player, this results in it being very common for someone to be aggressively pushing the pace as a strategy which, absent a dedicated stall strategy in response, tends to result in very frantic gameplay.

Yeah this is true. Velma was certainly the most prominent 2's character throughout the beta.
But I used Reindog as an example since his synergies and reasons why he's a strong 2's character and not that great in 1's are a bit more obvious and easier for newer players to grasp imo.
Dw though, Velma is going to get the 2's crown she deserves in the next video
Now it makes sense why i do way better as batman 1v1 and i usually switch to Velma in 2v2.

I think they dropped the ball a bit with singles in this game. Seemed to be most people's complaint that singles didn't feel good. I enjoyed it but I could also see how sometimes it was just an insane mash fest with dodge and spammy safe attacks.
The main reason I don't really fuck with Super Smash Bros is because Idk 90% of the characters. Multiversus i know over 90% of the characters. I;m 30 but I never grew up with Nintendo. I grew up with the Xbox/PS2 era. I also owned 3 PS1/s that kept getting broken by us lol

1:55 I feel like you completely forgot about Brawlhalla while writing this video. Brawlhalla has an insanely strong 2v2 scene thats treated very seriously. Obviously the game is balanced for both 2v2 and 1v1 making the statement that multiverses is the first game to do this incorrect. Yeah I can definitely admit I had forgotten entirely about Brawlhalla. It's really not a game I'm all too familiar with, and because of that, I didn't really feel qualified to speak on it. I knew vaguely that it has 1s and 2s but I had no idea if it had specific balance adjustments per format or even if the player base saw value in both formats.
100% a mistake of mine though to address Multiversus as the first without doing more research into Brawlhalla.
