NYC Major Snow Storm- February 26th, 2010 [HD] (The Winter That Never Ends)

- Yet another major winter storm hits the NYC area! This one brought with it a TON of snow. I measured almost 14 inches in my backyard, and after just checking the official storm totals in my area, it looks like South Ozone Park (which is about 4 miles from me) clocked in with 15 inches. The snow right at sunrise this morning was coming down at the rate of about 2 inches an hour, and that's when I headed out the door to shoot the video you are watching here.
Buses and cars were getting stuck everywhere as the roads were in horrible shape. Thank god my Nissan Xterra has 4 wheel drive! If it didn't, I would have surely gotten stuck.

Even though we had,by our standards, a bad December where everything shut down for a couple of weeks here in the U.K. we dont get it half as bad as you do over there. Great video...

Thanks Nathan! Yeah we got clobbered again! And this one ranked I think #4 for all time NYC snow storms! Central Park clocked in with 21 inches!! Here in Queens where I live I measured about 15. I hope you're right about Spring being on the way, lol. I could use a little warmth right about now
It's been a strange winter for sure! NYC has just recorded not only it's snowiest February on record, it's also our snowiest month EVER on record! And records go back to 1869

Glad you enjoyed the video! We may get even more snow in a few days! And no, I do not live in Tornado Alley, far from it actually. But, I do travel out to Tornado Alley every year to chase tornadoes. Been taking the 1500 mile drive every year since 1999!

LOL...yeah I know what you mean. Part of the problem is that we're so tightly packed here in NYC and there are so many roads to plow overall that it seems to take forever to get it done. I think we have like 5000 miles of road total here. The major roads are done first, and places in Queens where I live always get done last. Thanks for watching and commenting! :)

LOL...yes this is true. I saw people that morning trying their best to make it to their job, and most of them probably were just sent home anyways! Even the schools closed at the last minute. Our Mayor was insistent on keeping them open the night before, but finally agreed to close them that morning. Where in NY did you live? Thanks for watching and commenting!

@eusoj24 I hope you enjoy your upcoming visit to NYC in February. Snow storms come in all different shapes and sizes. Some last only a few hours and deposit only a dusting of snow, and others can last over 24 hours and dump two feet of snow! It's impossible to tell how this upcoming winter will be, but if you're coming in mid Feb, there certainly could be some snow. But don't worry. We've been digging out all day! It's actually quite warm outside now and in turn, the water content of the snow just went way up. It's HEAVY!! lol

We in Poland we have a spring :D
You were much worse, Poland was from 40-60 cm of snow and there was a time that night the temperature fell very strongly -25, -30 °C (-13, -22°F). I love winter, and I see that in you it is beautiful :)

@Niyologist It really was coming down like gangbusters! When I woke up early that morning it was a winter wonderland out there and still coming down like crazy!
The Bronx got extremely walloped Overnight. The snow was falling furiously and I went went in the height of the storm for an hour. :D
@CapuRen Here in the midland of Russia it`s used to be like in Finland, but for last two years we have not snow till the end of January. New Yorkers are shocked by the abundance of snow, and we on the contrary, are shocked by absence of snow! (forgive me my english:))

That bus is having a rough time, that’s why we should be careful while driving. I've wonder how the driver would've felt.
Yes those road conditions were very slick that day. Those bus drivers have to be out there doing their job, but it wasn't easy for sure that day.

You guys got more snow than: Snoqualmie pass Washington, Spokane Washington, Post Falls Idaho, and Couer D'alene Idaho got this year.
