    ---
    On 9/12/19, I returned back to my apartment from my classes at around 1:50 PM. I noticed my weather radios had gone off for a tornado warning for Rochelle, IL and I figured that DeKalb would be next to be hit. So, I set up my cameras and waited for the storm to come. Around 3:00 PM, the national weather service issued a severe thunderstorm warning, catching me off guard. Shortly afterward, the storm began to intensify and before I knew it at 3:33 PM, a tornado warning was issued for DeKalb! Shortly after, DeKalb fire dispatch activated all the 2001s in the city, and let them run a full 10 minutes. It was pouring rain when they went off hence why I didn't go set up a camera in my parking lot where you could see a DC round back and instead opted for an ambiance instead. At some point, I did run outside with one of my cameras to see the round back which I included in this video at 8:38. I got very lucky this time around and the tornadic storm ended up passing to the south. According to a rumor, a funnel cloud was spotted over Hinkley, but that was about all that happened in this storm. Thank you for watching and I hope you enjoy the video!

      Thanks! I timed how long it took to activate them from EAS to DTMF drop and it was a whole 10 minutes. The phone EAS alert took 15 minutes however. Next time I hope it’s not pouring rain so I can run to that round back.

      Montecat 33 yeah that’s way too late considering average lead time on a TOR is about 12 mins (I think).
      Really they should be going off within about a minute of each other.

      @@Montecat33 You guys are lucky you got sirens to record. The only sirens I was able to record were the Arlington (NOT TO BE CONFUSED WITH TEXAS DAMMIT!), Tennessee sirens. They are tied into the Memphis, TN siren system so they go off every Wednesday at 3:30 PM CST. Here in my hometown we have no sirens to record until you go across the Alabama Border, to the nearest siren which is 4 hours away! That would take a lotta courage to do!

      Fr, especially the older ones. The first time I heard a 2nd generation 2001, it was extremely loud from 400 feet and made me cover my ears which a 130 didn’t do. IMO the older ones are very good, especially if you give them better controls

    I guess this 2001-SRN/DC roundback replaced a ACA Hurricane 130 MK-l because of a partial system failure from a tornado warning in 1989. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ACA_Hurricane

    • @spanishFriedEggsOnYoutube
      @spanishFriedEggsOnYoutube Před 12 dny

      Possibly, all 3 of their hurricanes were replaced, and their system was expanded with more sirens. It’s possible that this one did, or this could have been an addition.
