    I owned the x-files table for a couple of years, it's a personal favourite. Satisfying ramps, not too difficult, smashing that launch button for the tombs stretchy arm. And when you get to the final stage- Kill 'em all. Generally a fun representation (s01/s02) of the tv show.

    Ripley’s, Monopoly and Coster Tycoon come to mind. All excellent games with some of the weirdest shots in pinball.

    • @covercalls88
      @covercalls88 Před 3 lety

      Ripley's was not at my local arcade, but Monopoly and Roller Coaster Tycoon managed to suck up more than a few of my quarters. They were really good and what it was game play was simple enough for most seasoned players to get a few replays before they ran out of quarters. Ripley's was at the Pinball Hall of Fame in Las Vegas, so I popped in a couple of bucks, I didn't do too well.

    I was on a massive tear with LW3 back in college when my future wife appeared (125lbs of relentless pinball kryptonite) saddled up to the edge of the game and started chatting with me like I was in line at Taco Bell. Drained ball two within seconds. Ball three moments later. I hadn't even said a word to her and she was able to murder my hopes and dreams. I acquired this title recently and it has so much detail and passion and a ton of art assets combined on a great pf layout! I mean, what was the decision to go with the hat trick in the backbox vs just a simple dmd animation? the physical saw house mech, the awesome jackpot music! I can tell the team was really into creating a game in a top shelf theme execution. I can see the passion that went into this in so many small details!! There has got to be a story here!!! I find the game still holds up well today and its a lot of fun with great flow and just the right amount of stop and go.

    Arabian Nights is my all-time favorite pin. The theming, the callouts, the music, that masterpiece of a ramp... the whole table is crammed with so many gimmicks and surprises that something fun is bound to happen no matter where the ball lands. Yet so few of those tables were made, and all the gimmicks make it so prone to break down, it's so incredibly hard to find one in good working condition. Somebody please remake Arabian Nights.

    I've ordered a godzilla premium through betson back in December 2021. It's June. Are you aware of a production issue. Also I'm starting to see videos and articles about reliability with the new stern machines. Do you recommend stern?

    • @imnitguy
      @imnitguy Před rokem

      Are you referring to the SPIKE-1 and SPIKE-2 systems? Yeah that sketches me out too. It is like Stern has improved their manufacturing at the cost of reliability and repairability from previous generations. I'm sort of a diehard Williams/Bally guy who prefers those 90's titles because who knows if you will be able to get the little board that contains the led's, etc when there is a problem. Why give homeowners a two month warranty when the games get so little play? And the prices are through the roof; they reduce their cost to manufacture it and then sell it for almost $10k. I wanted a Jurassic Park but I'm not paying a premium for a (potentially) flakey product. I do have a really nice TSPP but that doesn't suffer from this phenomena.

    When No Fear came out in the arcades in 1994, I was a pinball wizard at that pinball game, I could not miss that upper playfield ramp. I was able to score 8.9 billion on that pin-ball game. There was a guy that would always rack up high scores on various pinball games, and No Fear was the ONLY pinball game he could never beat my high score on in the time he was around this area. Popeye is an incredibly fun pinball game and I'm a bit shocked why it isn't more valuable then it is, there was one up for sale at a pinball convention in my area some years ago and they only wanted like $1300 for it which was very low for a dot matrix pin and even today they really don't go for that much still.
