Become a sterile processing tech in 2021? Sterile processing techs are the people responsible for making sure that the equipment that will be used for medical operations and procedures is sterilized. Their job may seem simple, but any wrong move can lead to huge problems, like getting the patient infected and thus worsening the case.
Let's find out if you should become a sterile processing tech through these questions:
What is the average salary of a sterile processing tech?
What is the job market like for sterile processing techs? Would it be hard for you to get a job?
Would this occupation be compatible with your personality and interests?
What kind of education do you need to become a sterile processing tech?
    Let's get started.
You can become a sterile processing tech with only a high school diploma, so if you want to work with physicians and other professionals that are in the healthcare sector without spending a few years in a medical school, being a sterile processing tech is a smart choice.
According to the Occupational Information Network, among the sterile processing techs:
43% have a high school diploma
    22% have a post-secondary certificate
    17% have an associate's degree
18% of them have decided to further their knowledge by enrolling in other programs.

Starting pay for surgical technicians are $15-20 while starting pay for sterile processing techs are $25 or more, they can earn upto 90k a year!
