This is a wonderful series! I love the history, the background information on the composers, and getting to see the stunning scenery and the glimpses of the beautiful concert halls! And Simon Callow is wonderful in the narration! I would love more info in the show notes, though....I want to know what pieces of music are being played in the background. It's all so beautiful, but I only recognize a few! Also, Shostakovich Waltz #2...best waltz EVER! lol Thanks for such a great series! Can't wait for more!

🙏🏻 I had no idea, it’s sad to see that Russia hasn’t learned it’s lesson through one of its most talented and beloved sons 💞🕯🙏🏻

Someone should write a play or a novel as tp what would have happened if Tchaikovsky would have went to Vienna to tell his feelings to Sigmund Freund. Would have it changed his music having other outlets for his feelings ?

Shostakovich and Tchaikovsky? Really? Are these folks serious? The latter has given us dozens of pieces that the whole world treasures. The former has given us not one piece that the average person can recognize. You can argue whose fault it was that Shostakovich never wrote anything lasting and valuable (Stalin is often blamed) but you can't argue that he produced anything great. Nothing, anyway, that would justify putting his name next to that of Tchaikovsky. There are at least a dozen other Russian (os St Petersburg) composers who have a better claim to that seat.
