Info for those of you who purchased on ArtStation & Gumroad. I had to delist EasyFog there because ArtStation has poor payment reports which made financial bookkeeping a major pain in butt. With that said, I hear you, and I understand you want this update as well. So I will be adding the updated version there tomorrow for you to grab. I also delisted it from Gumroad because I encourage people to purchase from the Epic Marketplace instead. In the future, I recommend buying Unreal assets from the Epic Marketplace (And FAB, in the near future), if you can, as it is way easier to add to your projects that way, and ensures that things are updated seamlessly.
Update: it is now up on ArtStation and Gumroad again.

You can use the marketplace system called Ultra Dynamic Sky for weather. It's really good for this.

It would be really handy to be able to change the position between layers A, B, C, instead of changing textures one by one.
You could offer a dropdown to choose layer order like ABC, ACB, BAC, BCA, CAB, CBA.
Or... something smarter that you for sure can think of! :)

Biggest issue I've found with this atm is it defaults to inverting the starting vertex colors from black > white. So you either build your material backwards and do a bunch of weird negatives on the blends, or you need to make sure every single asset you drop something onto you go mesh painting > select > paint > inverse > fill.
That is because for some reason Epic chose to make (most) meshes have full-white, 1, 1, 1, as the default. It is easier for the math, and a lot more intuitive when you are adding values by starting at 0, and adding from there. You have to go in and paint anyway so there is no issue with just painting black as a fill before getting started.
@@WilliamFaucher well when my base is say brick. And then I have moss and dirt additive layers, every single asset floor and wall I drop the material on defaults to being completely moss covered. When using this material on assets that have other material layers, then using the fill option isn't viable because most other master materials will do the opposite then, and fill with the green channel. This has been an issue already using this master as our environmental master material in our project the last several weeks. I can't just replace one of several materials in say, an arched door/ wall. I need to replace them all so they can be filled with 1,1,1. I understand why you did it, it just doesn't jive with most other master materials easily because of it and takes a little extra effort.
@@WilliamFaucher I just want to add - this is a very very good master material and that is basically the only caveat. Just so it doesn't look like I'm some dude complaining in the comments lol. I think you did a great job with it it's the best option I've found and solves a lot of problems that no other master has. The inverted vertex colors is the only hiccup I've run into
@@MultiLock0n If it doesn’t work with your other master materials, you can simply add a one-minus node in EasyMappers master material where the blends occur, to have it behave the way your other materials do. This will effectively invert the black/white input of the vertex color masks.

I have no plans on making Substrate tutorials as it is currently in beta, and I generally advise against using it for the time being, since it is a project-wide conversion that can cause issues when trying to revert. It’s just not stable enough for my liking, and can cause more harm than good to your project. Maybe once it is out of beta though.

I've already purchased EasyFog and EasySnow. As a user from China with 40,000 followers on the Chinese video platform UE5, I noticed the update for EasyFog today. I have a suggestion: could you design the preset fog switching mode to be similar to EasySnow's, where you can directly switch presets instead of selecting images and normals? I understand the current design allows users to customize fog textures, but many purchasing users actually prefer to use presets directly rather than customizing. So, while retaining the option to switch texture modes, you could also include a direct preset switching mode.

hey william such a great job thanks alot , i already bought the easy mapper such a great tool but can you consider the rotation for the maps in the next update because you just put scale and offset and how we can put mask for roughness such as fingerprints or dust.... thanks alot 🙏
Hi, rotation can be added but it breaks normal map projection, and I would rather omit something rather than publish something that is broken. If you know what you're doing , it should be simple to add the rotation function to the master material yourself :)

Hi William, I just purchased all of the 3 products. Question:
at around 5:16 you showcase puddle level going higher or lower the stone floor. I've noticed that if you have a small puddle that supposed to only cover the spacing between each brick is somehow also affecting the bricks themselves making it look like an acid damaged the bricks rather than water trapped in between bricks. Can we achieve a better result using your plugins?
Yes you just need to adjust the mix/ blending, options as shown in this video ☺️

Anychance you could add a seperate toggle for MRAO nodes instead of the other one. I personally use the mrao (roughness, ambient occlusion, metalic) constantly as thats just how i export from substance designer and how my master materials already work so it would help stream line converting over to these master materials
I can’t start having toggles for every single combination people might want 😂 But you can dive into the master material to configure it the way you want it.

Great Updates! One of the most annoying "features" of Unreal is (at least for someone like me with an offline renderer background) is the way it handles textures.
The amount of frustration it can cause using the wrong texture type in your master materials is...huge.
The fact that you can´t just decide randomly "oh, I´m gonna use a 16 bit texture for this" or "oh, I don´t have a mask texture, I´ll just reuse this color texture", or, as in your example "oh, maybe I wanna switch to virtual textures"...Man.
Why is that not something they can´t simply fix in their texture nodes...I know i know, because resons and realtime and shit. Still...:)
Such a wonderful tool, but when it DOES get frustrating, it gets super frustrating...
I mean its kind of the same in Maya or other apps? You need to specify which colorspace your maps are in, or whether they are linear or not. Yeah theres a couple extra steps but those steps are there to help make things perform a bit better. Unreal can’t really know what kind of data you are plugging a texture in, or how to interpret the data.
@@WilliamFaucher Once you are familiar, sure, its easy enough, but I think he brings up a valid point that Unreal texturing isn't drag-and-drop simple and is thus not beginner friendly. I think this is especially an issue for stripped down uses of the engine intended for lay people like Unreal Fortnite Editor.
I don't see why Epic couldn't use some sort of machine-learning implementation to allow for a texture to work in any shader setup.
@@Uncle_Fred There’s a learning curve with proper texturing with just about any app. Blender, Maya, 3dsMax. Things might «work» in Maya if you dont label or identify your maps and such, but the results will be completely wrong. At least Unreal tells you when something is set incorrectly, in a lot of cases. Could it be easier? Sure. But learning the tools is part of the job. Things like virtual textures are not strictly needed, they are a feature you can manually turn on, if you understand what it does and whether you need it in your project. Unreal already does a great job of interpreting what kind of textures you import in your project and automatically assigns them as such, things like normal maps, for example. In most cases it really is a plug and play thing, with the exception of, maybe, labelling your data maps as linear by unchecking sRGB for things like Roughness. But again, you have to do that in most apps.

Both, you might need to tweak your settings for gameplay usage to get the best performance but it will work for both.

Hello. I have a question on EasyFog. When I put a postprocess and turn on the raytrace translucency/transparency, it disappears. Am I doing something wrong or it just doesn't mesh well with that post process option?
Thats because easyfog isnt made for raytraced translucency, it is for rasterized usage. It will look completely different otherwise and not in a good way

The marketplace library should autoupdate it, but you might see an update button. Youll have to re-add it to your project.

the wind motion in the x direction seems to be not working in the latest update. I'm trying to get sideways motion of the wind noise and it acts more like evolving noise. It seems like the noise is now world space dependent which causes cards rotated a certain way to behave like this.
That is basically what it is, it has always behaved that way? You can watch the tutorial to see. Unless I am misunderstanding something? It isnt world space, it is UV space.
@@WilliamFaucher Thanks William for responding on this. Hopefully I'm missing something that you can point out. In the master material the noise is using a procedural noise that is driven from world space coordinates. The positions are using panners do animate the noise. If my cards are oriented to y forward I loose sideways movement (on the Led volume this is quite obvious). . With the controls exposed in the BP I cant find a way to change this.
@@tbarsnessvfx I'm not sure I understand what your issue is? I have tried in the demo level and it works fine. You might need to adjust the orientation in Y or X depending on how the cards are placed in your level, but I am largely able to get the direction I want with some tweaking

Yeah EasySnow crashes on Mac for reasons I cannot figure out. I blame it on Mac being Mac. Can't really test it on Linux either

Same for Gumroad, it would be good to have some kind of codes for us bought the items on another platform so we can take the marketplace ones and just get the updates as the others.
I unfortunately had to remove assets from Artstation because their payment reports platform was completely terrible and made financial bookkeeping frustrating and time consuming. Tools are now only on the epic marketplace

Thanks William. I was the one who first asked for this update to Easy Fog if I recall, and you delivered. I admit, I have switched to adding a second layer of cloud in Ultra Dynamic Sky due to this limitation, but that's an expensive substitute.

You probably never pack displacement with roughness and AO cuz different 'data density' stored in this textures. But you do you...
Unreal doesn’t use 16 or 32-bit half-float/float displacement in tessellation, the exception is Landscape, if I’m not mistaken. Everything gets clamped from 0-1, And this is how every single Megascans surface on the quixel bridge is done, which is why I did it this way. So that users can simply plug in their megascans textures with ease. But go ahead and be snarky.

An annoying thing, that because these are single words, aka EasyMapper, searching Easy Mapper or even just Mapper on the epic store ends up with nothing.

Turn what into red exactly? You can adjust the color of EasyFog and color of materials with easymapper
