I think, more than wanting a magical power for its own sake, what Mirabel *really* wants is to be accepted as an equal part of the family as she is, now, without powers. But what hurts her in that moment, and provokes her into singing, is that she realizes her family (especially her Abuela) doesn't even notice she's not in the family picture (both literally and figuratively). And at this point in the movie, she *thinks* she needs a Gift to be recognized by her family (and the townsfolk).
Mirabel is the black sheep of the family and you can see how earily she could become bitter and awful to everyone, because she isn't as "special" as everyone else in the family, but no, she is kind and supportive to everyone. UGH I LOVE THAT MOVIE!
Also love how you just toss the headphones on the floor after the video ends lol

With pretty self-referring "I'm ready! Come on, I'm ready!"
What we love from this musical, is my daughter is a mezzo-soprano and she can sing all of these as they have a lower vocal range then most Disney films.

Here’s the synopsis:
The Madrigal are an extraordinary family who live hidden in the mountains of Colombia in a charmed place called the Encanto. In the family Madrigal abuela stops the music just before the Dflat major note. Hinting that something is not right.
In waiting on a miracle ( there is actually a hidden note.) it’s basically a roof shingle falling making a chime sound ending the song out of beat just like Mirabel is out of beat with her family. But it also hints that it goes deeper then the surface. I’ll let you figure out the connection from there

This is my favorite song from Encanto. I think it’s the most under appreciated song in the movie.

This song hits me so hard in the feels, feels very relatable for alot of circumstances in life.. Broke up with my partner, didn't get to see my kids and this song made me feel like I was just lost and alone waiting for something to happen, how for something so small to happen I would be alone just wishing I could be with my family, knowing that they all still got to be together and live a life I couldn't have.. Lyrics like and I'm fine Im totally fine I will stand by the side as you shine mean alot to me with the included I'm not fine but it's very rarely a side of me that anybody is ever allowed to see.. So it Took a while to come to terms with it but I feel like songs like this kinda helped me understand that no matter how alone or low I feel or how much it feels like nothing good will happen that I'm stronger than believed and will continue to push forward.
