- Al at Sick Psycles is at it again. Not a new bike build, but a new shop build.
And, he's adding more clothes to his list of merchandise and we're adding more clothes to ours. So here we are at Al's new shop and Slim (That guy who built that crazy all wheel drive trike) is here for fun and we'll announce some upcoming events.
I like hearing you mention “a straight 80 inch engine “. Everyone seems to want the big inch engines, I think it’s more about talk than actually using the horsepower. 74 and 80 inch engines will serve you well. When he mentioned a cow pie trans makes me think, a cow pie trans will drop right into a JD frame. I have one I’d like to use with my ‘26 JD stroker. I think a JD stroker with 4 speed foot shift, hand clutch would be a fun and unique machine. Keep the informational and fun videos coming! 👍
I've seen that one done. I didn't realize the cowpie lid would fit easier than the ratchet lid. I do have a friend that did one for the Cannonball ride. I find 80 cu. inches to be a big motor. I also think in old relic terms. A really efficient engine that's running well will last a lot longer than a big stroker. And 1 hp per cubic inch is the goal, if I really want to go fast. The low end grunt of the early motors really is sufficient entertainment for me. Tall sprockets, low RPM = nice high speed cruising.

Hey guys another cool video. I have a 38 knuckle 2 pans 49 ,65 a 81 shovel at my summer home in Rockford a 03 ultra classic and the 05 bigdog I'm sitting on in my photo. Mike your a lifetime of great knowledge. 👍

I was watching an old rerun of one of the biker build off shows. . I saw a professional bike builder featured named Mike. After the interview he rode off on a nice knucklehead JUST LIKE YOURS. I wish I could remember the show and episode. (That Mike had much darker hair!)

That really inspired me to fix my lift so I can get to work on My 65 Pan Chopper. I'd really like to go thru my 65 transmission it seems like the output shaft may not be perfectly strait, it's a ratchet top. So, I was hoping you might have a video or three that would help me take it apart clean it up change any damaged parts and put it back together. (And have it work) Thanks Mike

Ah, the So-Cal. sunny bike scene, that dreamland far from here,
for we are the land of wet flannels, & landlords warming beer.
Not for us, the ride through Benson, 'with the warm wind in our hair',
more a winding road through the traffic, to amuse a speeding hare.
But the hounds are on his tail I fear, as the cameras will click on mine,
for the 'King's Highway' is just a new name, it still carries a hefty fine . . .
(Velocity related naughtiness, bane of my life - we need a bigger island; the Manx mob have got the best idea, madness! : )
We're freezing and flooding right now. I'm on high ground. No problems here. Not too far from here, there are a few stretches of road with very little, if any, traffic. That's where you get to find out if you built it as cool as you think. Just like in your comment, my Knuckle is easily compared to a hare. Stay dry.

Big Mike, no start, gonna change starter relay, lay bike on stand, raise left side cover, loosen starter ,retighten. Loosen gently selonid. Hit few times and if dont start, gonna rewire starter system I'm lost here.
Short out the solenoid (bike out of gear) by using a jumper wire from the little post to the biggest post on the solenoid. If the starter works this way, then it's either the relay or the button switch.

Hi Mike, I have a question for you: Do you think its possible to get off the scavenger pump in this BT Flathead when the motor is mounted on the frame? I think I have the breather misstimed in my UL 47 And I want to chek the pump timing with less dissasemble..
I'm still getting "reacquainted" with my own Flathead. I've only had those scavenger pumps off of engines I was assembling on the bench. And, that was quite a while back. It doesn't tell in the manual except they only talk about it on the bench.
His parts bike daily rider is the bike I would want the most.
It is something real and certainly fun.
I'm going to say that without the huge overhead and all the stress of having a large business Al is going to be building his best bikes yet

Sounds like an oil pressure sending unit. Of course, you didn't mention what the motor is, and I can't remember what you have.
