In my experience with Google maps, you need none of this. Download a map for offline use for where you live and surroundings. For places away, like Spain, use local wifi. Bring up Google Maps and enter the from and to, then click "directions". It loads all the data you'll need for the whole route, including surroundings. No need for third party apps or added expense. Always works for me.
Not my first rodeo. Once I left the airport and lost wifi it was fine at first and then it just stopped. And yes even with offline maps, the delay between GPS and the phone's map matching the location didn't work. Also loads of road works and closed roads made me go off track which is when things really went pear-shaped😲
I bow to your expertise and experience, Liron. I must admit I have never tried my approach in Spain but it has worked well for me to date anywhere I have been. I have no data connection nor wifi when I use it yet it always knows where I am instantly (Samsung tablet). I concluded it relies only on a satellite connection once I have my route loaded up.
I did want to add I always used a Tom Tom device (very poor} then a couple of years ago discovered navigation in Google Maps. I was blown away just now good it is and never looked back.
you are right - those dedicated portable travel GPS are great. I had a Tom Tom one too, but stopped using it when the company wouldn't update the maps anymore
Lol. You obviously did not get a model with lifetime updates like I have. What they didn't tell me was that they meant it would take a lifetime to complete the update on the rare occasion I managed to get one started! Horrible service.
😂😂😂 I feel that comment so much
You are nearing 1 million subs...So let me pre-order my congratulations.
Appreciate you 🔥🔥🔥
Enjoy your trip Liron, and thank you for your great advice.
Thanks and appreciate you watching 👍
PERFECT TIMING for me! Thank you! I’m going to be doing the exact same thing at the end of Sept. renting a car when I land in Madrid and get the heck out of there quick to eventually the south of Spain
ooo nice!!! I hope all those road closures we had to deal with are sorted by the time you go! Have fun!
Fantastic advice--thanks for taking the time out of your vacation to make it!
I wasnt going to do anything. I took my camera "just in case" lol. But man I was so irritated after such a long flight all I wanted to was to get to bed not get lost in those tiny streets😜
Thanks for the info Liron, have a great, safe trip!
appreicate you!
Wonderful tip, thank you!!! May you and your family enjoy your vacation 😊👋🏼
appreciate you!
Thanks for the info. This will work perfectly for my next cruise as VZWs international options are quite expensive
Have fun!
This was wild! I travel quite a bit, but never knew any of this! Thanks for taking the time to share this solution! Peace
Will never travel without this again 😂
Thanks, mann, I'm heading to Belgium in October... this will come in handy!
ooo nice - have an epic trip!
I'm glad you're enjoying your trip! The last time I lived in Europe, mobile phones were just...phones. I had to use paper maps to find stuff. Safe and happy journeys to you. Aloha!
Ahhh I remember those days -kids today will never know the struggle of trying to follow a map based on the grid and index 😂
@@LironSegev Traveling was truly an adventure back in the '80s!🤣
Getting lost was almost guaranteed (and the occasional fight with the navigator)
@@LironSegev That wasn't a problem for me.
Refolding the dang thing though...now that was a struggle.
@@AceMoonshot 😂 it was a impossible task
Super tip! Enjoy your vacation 😎
Thanks for being here 🔥
@@LironSegev I wish I was there 😎
Excellent Liron !!!
Many thanks!!
You are simple the best !!! Thank you so much for all your tips and support. IPhone 14PM has an estimate feature how is that utilized? Or can it?
When that happens to me, I usually just screenshot a few maps, and plan my own route. The internet is helpful, but it's a bad idea to rely on it, completely.
usually you are right - the problem is that there are so many roads that are closed and under consturction that it takes you way off your map! Also the traffic is insane which of course the screenshots can't help with. Better than nothing though so great idea
Thanks for the information!!
Any time!
Thanks for this tip! Here in Canada it is very expensive to get international roaming coverage. My current carrier is $12 CAD a day.
Same here in the US
Liron Sir please reply. I have a question. What are your views on Windows AppLocker using group policy editor available in Windows 10 Pro and Windows 11 Pro versions to enhance PC security against malware? I already have User Account Control set to Maximum and use computer as a standard user, not as an administrator. Should I also learn and use AppLocker to secure my PC against Malware? Do you also use it? How often do experts use it?
Thanks, this is a way better idea than buying the sim after arriving. Enjoy.
Exactly👍 thanks for watching
We used Airalo in Spain and Italy last month and had no problems at all.
nice!
Not cheap. $64 for a month. A PAYG sim in many European countries would be €10-20 for a month.
did you watch the bit when I talked about buying a local sim card?
@@LironSegev Yes. It may be a little more effort to buy a sim in the first European country you land in but it is still going to be a fair bit cheaper which will be a more important factor for many.
Isn't it great that we have options? If I am flying in for two days, spending 2 hours getting to a mall to get a SIM card just to save $30 isn't financially worth my holiday time. For others it may be.
Thank you ❤
You're welcome 😊
I live in the UK and use O2 as my provider. They give the ability to roam in Europe using local data providers at no extra charge. What could be simpler .Get an O2 sim and use in ANY EU country.
Problem is when you don't live in Europe and come in for a day or two.
@@LironSegev A simcard from a local shop would be the best bet. I went to Australia a few years ago and bought a simcard for A$20. Lasted me for three weeks.
Always download Google maps offline maps to a area your traveling to. Always.
Yup. Did that. But the delay between my location in relationship to the map was so off it didn't help. It just wasn't updating fast enough. So the gps and map weren't marrying up
Good video. It says it works in the Philippines even.
They are pretty well covered! (and thanks for watching)
@@LironSegev when I was in the Philippines my phone ran out of data the last week but, somehow google sent me an email of how many miles I traveled that day. I rented a scooter and drove 38 miles. How does google know that?
is the Google Fi VPN active when you roam overseas?
Did I understand correctly that whatever phone you have, dual SIM is preferable?
As far as I know, there is Google Fi which is an eSim provider. Ther is VPN which protects your data. You can use Holafly and a VPN for example (which is what I did).
Google also has a VPN so you can also use that.
Dual SIM is preferable as you can still keep your existing home number active so you can still get SMS messages on your normal number while using the eSIM to get data.
Liron, Do you have T-Mobile for phone service? Were they the carrier that had the super slow speeds?
I acturally used Tmobile's free unlimited data. It sucked. They do have a paid-plan for international roaming, but I didn't get that.
I signed up for the Holafly and will be using it on my upcoming trip. Thanks for the great info! Appreciate the hard work you put into your channel @@LironSegev
Ridiculously expensive, way cheaper to get a sim at the airport..
Can you help me find the best DNS server I like in New York
How do scan a qr code on your phone when you are installing on the same phone. I don't think I can scan my own phone with myself.
Glad you asked here is how czcams.com/users/shorts9TkanRE8FQ0?si=wTI-DtHzI_l4sa4_
@@LironSegev Thank you so much. This issue has bothered me so much and I only got around it by opening the target url on my ipad and scanning the code with my phone which is frustrating when away from home because my ipad has no data and only works on wifi.
Thank you Liron. Another satisfied fan from the UK.
Thanks very much for the QR code info. Safe + happy trails !
Welcome to Spain
thanks
*whispers: Download the map for offline use.*
whispers back: the disperegy between the GPS and the rate the map updated didn't work.
LOL, that is why we always carry a set of paper maps. Never rely on electronics.
nice!
FYI: The says the phone has to be unlocked. I don’t know what that means but I’ll find out. Just be aware of that
Means it can't be tied to work only on one network. Some carriers sell phones that only work on their systems. So if you have a phone that only works with AT&T then it can't use another provider like HolaFly
@@LironSegevThat was really nice if you to address this for someone NOT in the know. Wow
Ok 👍
Thanks for watching
Holafly vs airalo vs ugibi vs nomad, which is best?
I only used Holafly. I can tell you that it worked perfectly everywhere with a nice fast network.
👍 a Boss
I go soooo lost
Arlo will give you the same for about half the price even less.
You could have just bought a map. Old school method.
doesnt show any closed roads or traffic. In Spain, that can add a couple of hours on your journey
You never heard of a paper map? This world is so f'd.
Wait a minute: how are you watching this video? How dare you use technology for your convinience?
Oh and by the way, last time I checked, a paper map doesn't show you road closures and traffic jams that add hours on your joureny.
So thanks, you enjoy your horse ride to work and sending letters in an envelope, while the rest of us you our tech.
Best to take our your Oxford English Dictionary and look up hypocrite
Best response😅. Kudos to you, keep making your wonderful videos, let them go watch it on their paper maps. Your videos have helped a lot of friends and family. Will keep sharing so you can celebrate that 1M subs soon.
Get a paper map.
😅 👌 👍
much like Texas roads are constantly under construction lol 👍
@@LironSegev lol
Hi 👋
hi
How about just using a paper MAP !!
yeah because a papermap can show me traffic and closed roads. Its 2023 - grow up
Err paper doesn't care about the year ( sarcasm ) . Don't know why you brought it up , or seemingly took offense to my comment , when none was meant . @@LironSegev
Haha was meant in jest. All good 😊
Just buy a bloody map. 🙂
like paper and stuff? 😂
@@LironSegev Yep. Either that or get a sense of direction. 🙂
I like your videos but please talk slower
Did you know you can adjust the video playback speed?
This was complicated and time consuming to set up
Not all android phones take an e- sim card.
You are right. I should have said that. Oh wait. I did 😂
