  • Are British shooters too obedient? Armed Devon & Cornwall police officers have been turning up at shooters homes, often during darkness, and seizing their guns. Many of these shooters have had their guns for decades. One of them also servces on the regional crime squad. But whil most shooters agree to hand over the guns and surrender their certificates without a fuss, Chris Hart from Plymtree successfully saw off the top police who came to his house.

In fact they discourage fun owners from seeking mental health professionals.
The reason I like licensing is that that it's a very useful tool for Guns and Gang units: any hint of an unlicensed gun gets a warrant. But then they abuse it. I wish I had a good answer (my neighbors house had 5 bullets put into it when I was a kid, so this topic is very personal to me!).

Because anyone with taste for blood will flock to where they fully know - they are the only ones armed! Which is why so many cowards take their harm to schools and public arenas... It breeds a society of victims... "Don't dare protect yourself - we can do it - so in case of emergency - call an operator, stop to explain, so we know where to collect your body!" Our leadership is all protected by gunman! Our law enforcement relies in guns to assert their authority! We have thousands and thousands of men and women performing drills and training in uniform... As a standing army to protect our country - with guns...
Please, please, please! Believe me when I say this issue has NOTHING to do with safety, health, or protection... It is entirely about control and the counter measures to ensure those controls can be force totally undeterred!
When you surrender rights in the name of peace and safety... You will never get safety or know peace... History has taught that lesson many, many, many times... But that requires knowing history!
Because most of the time... It's someone that is so sure that they can make things work and be different... With the greatest of intentions... That are actually living outside of reality! That do more harm than any weapon...

The fact that they were trying to take his weapons because of a diagnosis of autism is pretty insidious.
People always say that America is crazy for letting people with mental health conditions own weapons. But if you open that door, it would never stop.
First it's serious mental health conditions like psychotic disorders. Then it's disorders like PTSD, then anxiety disorders, and depression, and diagnoses of someone being on the spectrum.
And if you look at America as a whole, that covers a huge percentage of the American population.
A lot of those diagnoses aren't even accurate, because if you get a referral from your primary care physician to a psychologist or psychiatrist, they have to put a reason, like a suspected diagnosis, for insurance purposes.
And then to treat you with insurance coverage, a psychologist or a psychiatrist has to pick a diagnosis. Otherwise there's no medical need for your treatment, and it won't be covered.
Whenever there's a shooting that involves an ex-soldier or someone along those lines, and it comes out they have PTSD, I always encounter tons of people saying that it's crazy that we allow people with PTSD to own weapons.
To them, I always ask the following; what about a woman who has PTSD because she was the victim of a brutal assault, and she wants a firearm in order to protect herself and take back some control of her life?
It forces them into a position of empathy for that woman, or into a position of being blatantly heartless towards a victimized woman. It's also a useful example to point out that just because someone has PTSD, doesn't mean that they are violent and dangerous.
Revoking people's inalienable rights because of a medical condition is ridiculous and insidious. If people have rights revoked, it should be because they committed crimes that infringed upon the rights of others. Not because of a medical condition like depression, anxiety, or PTSD.
I also got into an argument with someone recently who thought I was crazy for thinking that we should "let blind people own firearms".
I had to explain to them, and encourage them to look it up themselves, that blind people *ARE* allowed to on firearms in America, just like everyone else is, unless they have some type of criminal acts on their record that prohibit them from firearm ownership.
I also then had to explain that the government doesn't "let" people exercise their rights in America.
We are not *given* rights by a supposedly generous and benevolent government. *We have them by default.*

Unfortunately, there are plenty of places in America that are almost this ridiculous. And they are all deep Blue.
Although, at least in America the police can't just show up and claim they have the right to inspect your firearms or how they are stored.
That is, unless, you own licensed suppressors, automatic weapons (I think), or you have a specific kind of firearms license. Manufacturing, I think. When you fall into those categories, you do give away *some* of your rights, as far as I understand it. I've been told that you open yourself up to inspections that you can't refuse, but don't quote me on that.

@@scottcantdance804 In the US you don’t lose your 4th amendment rights just because you have a license to engage in the business of selling or manufacturing firearms. You can refuse inspection. The issue is if you refuse inspection they could revoke your license because you are licensed to engage in a regulated business. As far as a tax stamp for the individual ownership of NFA weapons (machine guns, silencers, etc). you don’t lose your 4th amendment rights by having those weapons. Authorities cannot search your home or compel you to present the weapons. They can only search your home with a warrant issued by a magistrate or judge based on probable cause and your refusal to provide consent for a warrantless search does not affect your tax stamp or ownership of that weapon.
