  • Ben Foster from @thecyclinggk loses it after VAR make another error. This time incorrectly ruling Luis Diaz goal for Liverpool against Tottenham offside after the Video assistant referee thought the on field call was goal. The disallowed goal would have made it 1-0 for Liverpool. They went on to lose 2-1. #shorts #football #soccer #premierleague

      @@mymannbruzz I watched the entire game and discussion HT & FT. During the "offside" Gary said NOTHING. During HT Gary said close to nothing. Then at FT Gary goes off on one about it. Thought it was suspect at the time.

      @@TPRM1 Nah man. Good refs quit because they know too much, and don't want to be involved. Its gone on for too long for to be called incompetence. Its the cover ups that are the clue here, not just some missed offside, or a bad call.
      Also the same bad refs keep getting games. If it was incompetence, fine, relegate the bad refs then and bring on new blood. Why wont they do that? Because in any fraud or crime, the fewer people know of it, the better.

    Spot on. 100%. Even in the CZcams highlights, there was only a very brief look at it with Gary Neville saying “he’s just offside” and then they move on. It’s so obvious.

      That would be a reasonable idea if players didn't make in a week, what a ref would make in a year.
      Refs also get "promoted"/"demoted" on a game by game basis.
      Imo the biggest issue is that the PL only allows English refs to officiate PL matches. The best leagues should have the best referees.
      The PL also has enough money to help develop local refereeing but they chose not to invest in it more.

      It didn't work properly because of the playable part rule. With current AI, i bet you could teach it to be 99% right within 2 yrs + have a response in a second. But honestly it would kill football imo, the old refereeing added way more emotion. This is semi-assisted and its awful to the flow of the game, I can't imagine a full auto system flagging everything. It would be good for defence, bad for attack.

      Absolutely. The reasons are many, but it's mainly down to incorrect implementation and poor refereeing standards. The written rules are also an issue. I've sent multiple rules revisions and drafts to the PGMOL, as well as applying for a position to re-write the rules. Of course, it all gets ignored.

      Well sports betting markets are the biggest in EPL, so there's more money to be made. I'm sure it happens in UCL too tho. Last year they even got caught fixing the draw for the knock outs. As usual nothing happened as a result, even when everyone with half a brain cell understood what had just happened.
      FIFA is corrupt, UEFA is corrupt and so many leagues are corrupt, they cant say anything when UEFA or FIFA fixes the next games to be played in the desert.

Before you can work kinks out, you have to identify them, which is what just happened. Now that this screw-up has occurred, they'll change the routines to prevent it happening again. Eventually, the system will be virtully idiot-proof. #3. Even with its current imperfections, VAR has already resolved FAR more ambiguities correctly, compared to mistakes made.

    If you listen to the audio from the VAR room, they actually correctly called the play onside. The issue was in their communication, they thought the onfield referee had given the goal, it wasn't until the play had restarted that the video-editing guy noticed and informed them.

    The VAR People should be fined and/or suspended. They had only one job and if they have seen there mistake in the halftime, then they must have corrected it in the second half. It isn't a big thing to add up a given goal after the halftime break.

    VAR people need investigating for betting regulations because they made way too many mistakes in that game and all to make sure liverpool lost, somthing just isn't right.

    I've noticed they've been doing this honestly why is no one talking about the potential match fixing ? They should be investigated to see if they hold contact with anyone to do with these betting companies.

    VAR was brought in to rig games, when you understand that fact, it all makes sense. They want to make sure the right teams get enough points for the billionaires to get the right returns on their investments. VAR is one of their primary vehicles to achieve that goal.

      @@magikarpsplashy All I see is the consistency in the inconsistency over all the seasons since its introduction. It's been highly consistent in favouring the so-called 'top 6', the ones that rake in the mega money on the international TV and merchandise markets.
      When something is so consistently inconsistent, I smell a rat. When so many millions if not billions are involved, that rat starts to smell fishy. We're talking some highly smelly smells.

    Absolutely correct. I’ve noticed every time there is a “close call” in regards to offside … the presenter of the sky game (usually that blonde lady) makes a real point of saying “well it’s 100% correct, it’s VAR” I’m glad not the only one noticed. Well done Ben

    The thing about the Diaz goal that sets it apart is that it wasn't a subjective refereeing error but a miscommunication. It highlights the astonishing situation that VAR's seemingly been operating all these years without simple speech protocols - if they'd run their system past any semi-competent analyst they'd have been set right at the start.

    Since start of the VAR I immidiately thought that is now easier to matchfix. No one got like the original copy of any game and sometimes a slowmo or replay takes so much time, so you can edit anything to the replay.

    Happens all the time, even in the Championship EFL games. The Sky commentator called a stonewall red card that wasn't given as a foul "a bit naughty" last week. Sky and the Prem are in league together to ensure they paint the most positive message about officiating as possible.

    The calls on most games are horrible, sometimes the decisions feel biased or even rigged
