    Morning Bob. The back doors was even a problem with the real ford thames. We had one as a mini bus in the air cadets many years ago and the last man in had to hold the doors closed with a piece of cord tied around the door handle. It was a absolute shed but it got us everywhere lol . Fantastic restoration .

  • @ellitronicsdiecastrestorat8138

    Hi Bob, well I did my first two tone of Thames Airborne. Red and Green. It’s for a friend as his Thames van were these colours. Did your trick and removed the tamiya masking tape etc before paint really hardened. It has worked a treat. Good on ya big man, thank you for the tip.

  • @The1queencollector
    @The1queencollector Před 5 lety

    Those clips are a massive help, I conjured up a figure stand using those, a milk bottle cap and a rivet as leg clips to keep my 1970s Adventure people upright, it works a treat

    Fantastic restoration Bob. If broken down into all its component parts i.e tyres axels rivets etc this toy is made up of 25 pieces! They wouldn’t bother now just for a kids toy. The work that went into the die cast and everything else and box art all for a few shillings. We had the best toys I think

      My other half says that I didn't grow up my toys got more expensive. I have an old yellow and black mgb gt that came with black suit case and racing transfers that is ripe for restoration but we ( other half is on board) are getting a full size one later this year.

      @TisBestinDiecast66 Před 5 lety +1

      Love the MGB worked on a lot in my early years of working in the automotive industry ( Garage). Really enjoyed rebuilding engines and the front suspension as in the stepped kingpins. Ended up putting a hot MGB engine into a Morris Minor I had along with brakes and suspension upgrades. You will really enjoy the 'B' and it is on my wishlist for later on along with a host of other British sports cars of that era. Enjoy Fella

    Hello Bob, I sincerely love "ALL" the Corgi restorations you've done. I have some favorites.
    Such as The Saint Volvo & The Man From U.N.C.L.E. Car you've done.
    I have a Man From U.N.C.L.E. Car in VERY GOOD condition & wouldn't ever consider selling it.
    This Ford Thames Camper is now added to my list of "favorites" you've done.

    Bob love the videos. But can I make a suggestion? Sometimes it's hard to keep the restoration in shot. So I place a mark or a sticker in the centre of the of the work bench where the camera is focused on. That way I always have the model in the centre of the shot.

Antique lighters, fixed / folding knives etc. You seem to have the skills in restoration plus as you mentioned you have a small workshop so there not overly big projects. Just an idea, would probably increase viewers and subscribers as well.

      Dale Smith the tyres I used were 15mm Black Round Tread available from eBay or model supplies, the Perspex as you call it is polished with metal polish Autosol then dipped sometimes in pledge floor polish! If you watch a few more of the videos you’ll see these things often explained .

      Hi Bob, thanks for the advice. It is quite a coincidence that the old suitcase of model cars in a very poor state that I have found, include the Pullman 600 and the Ford Tames Caravan that I want to restore, you have produced videos on. I am really having troubles drilling out the stems that hold the rivets, I have practiced on a couple of badly damaged models and have had no success. Would it be possible for you to do a video on the removal by drilling out the rivet stem as well as replacing the rivets at the assembly stage. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
