  • Entries are now open for the 37th America's Cup. Which new teams do you think we'll see competing.
An entry from past winners Alignhi is heavily rumoured. Ernesto Bertarelli's team famously won at their first attempt in 2003. Could they repeat history in AC37?

Good to see confirmation on additional teams. That's probably the biggest concern for me. Four teams were not enough in the AC36. Regarding Burling and Tuke, I don't think they can race for Alinghi or any other team because of the nationality rules, or can they?

Why 548 days, where does that number come from? And what does "Spent ... in that country" mean? Actual physical presence? Maintaining a primary residence, or any residence? Visiting with no residence? I'll bet some countries would just have their governments issue citizenship / passports for talent they want to retain. I would think Italy and China would do that.

If Team New Zealand is all about money, why shouldn't the sailors think of them self in the same way????

Because the AC is like war in some respects..its about Loyalty to country and people..Patriotic .. and allegiance to ones Homeland in times of Conflict and Contest (think Olympics) with the deepest respects to the other competitors.."Death Before Dishonor" and nothing to do with money..Money dosent come into it when dealing with "Honor"..and I guess you either get it or you dont..once lost ALWAYS remembered

      @@roslynhita6149 but why?
You're not sailing for your country. You're sailing for your yacht club.
The AC is race between yachting clubs around the world. Not a boat race between nations.

No. Some NZ’s got upset only when they realised they were going lose the cup. They didn’t care about R C and B B and others leaving the team as we had huge depth and Sir Peter Blake in charge. Nek minute

Blake was no longer involved with the team by that time.
      What depth?
When RC and BB left half his crew he brought onboard left with him.
It was never about the cup. It was about his loyalty. What NZers didnt realize at the time is RC and BB didn't choose to sail for another country. They chose to sail for another yacht club as the AC is a race between yacht clubs around the world and not nations.
