Would you say the 6.2 with the 8 speed is more reliable?

My transmition guy said he has seen way more problems with the 6 speed than the 8 speed. My in law has a 2019 suburban with the 6 speed and it granaded afer 100k miles. I have a 2017 silverado with 6.2l and 8 speed. I flushed the transmission at 25k miles when i felt the first shuttering. As long as you catch it right away people have had good luck

My transmission went out after 104,000 miles on my 2017 GMC Sierra 1500 6 speed.

My sierra shudders like crazy when I'm driving.

New billet torque converter and new atf fluid(mobil1 synthetic lv at hp) total cost with labor $1400. It runs good now. If your mileage is high it's probably to late for that

@marekkrepa9982 thank you! I'm at 92k miles. It's probably too late for mine. It lurches when it shifts, so I think it's shot to hell. Might just pick up a used one and have my friend install it and then sell it to the dealilership who fucked my with it in the first place.

@shlomofreeman it's probably to late to save it with your mileage and symptoms. Maybe ask someone at transmission shop. Those trucks are pretty reliable if you put $2500 in it at the beginning ( because GM didn't do it right) and stay away from places like jiffy lube. I have two sierras: 2016 with 307k miles and 2017 with 167k, both runs good. About selling it try carvana or car max, they pay way better than dealer

I’m thinking of buying a 2017 gmc sierra sle with 200,000 miles. Should I do it or will I be breaking my bank just keeping it on the road ?

@Deenineninenine it depends how someone drove the truck and how it was maintained. You could make another 100k or you buying ticking bomb. Price and highway miles could be a good point but it's still lottery. Probably you should stay away. Sorry, but you asked a question that nobody can answer.
