I think it depends where you are in your financial journey. I've been budgeting for about 3 years now and before becoming debt free, I often felt restricted bc so much of my income had to go to debt. Since becoming debt free, I actually feel in control of my finances when budgeting bc I can finally dictate where I want it all to go.

So happy to see you back. I use the pay yourself first budget method. I think it’s very similar. I do have to check my account everyday but we spend guilt free 😊😊

Hey Gab, I read his book a few years ago and I listen to his podcast as well. I watched the Netflix show with my son when he was home on break from college. I implement the conscious spending plan and Our Rich Journey’s plan as well since I’m FIRE focused. I’m still in the debt pay off journey. I’m happy you are able to pivot at this point in your life.

This is so interesting, because his method is how I pretty much track my budget. I am not as consistent as I should be, but after reviewing my finances and realizing that I need to invest in Amazon and Etsy, I am getting my budget back on track. However, I think I prefer this method instead of zero budgeting. I like the buckets in this method better. Thank you so much for the video.

I'm just starting the budget/cash stuffing intense focus as a way to reset my attention on my current financial situation. I need what you're going to share as a balance. I checked out the info from Ramith Sethi and plan to include info from him as further training on my "spending plan balance approach" Thank you for an additional way of approaching my finances. I watched that series and found it entertaining. but I never put any of his tips into action. I downloaded the conscious spending plan. thanks for the reminder to take action.
Hi, I'm new to your channel. Your video is very interesting and I can totally see where you're coming from with quitting budgeting. I also like Ramit, what he says makes a lot of sense. I have his book and I've learned a lot from him.sI'm a bit sceptical about the whole "This is why I hate budgets" thing, though. At the end of the day, it's all semantics. There are budgets and there are budgets. His "spending plan" is also a budget. You can make a budget that includes "guilt-free Spending" and follow it without thinking about it too much. That's what Ramit advocates. But it's still a budget. Also, he goes on about lattes, he can hardly make a video without mentioning lattes. I'm not sure if he realises who off-putting that can be to those who don't have much margin atm and are struggling to make ends meet. Other than that, I agree what he's saying: you should save on the things that don't matter so much to you - to be able to spend on things that you love.

There's nothing wrong with changing the way that you view budgeting and doing what will work for you. I'm more hands-off with my money, too. Most of my bills, savings and investments are done automatically in my accounts.

I think it is great for some, but there are many that are in debt and can not live this way. They have to write down every penny so they can become debt free. To me it is like being overweight and wanted to be healthy. You can't "wing" it and not track eating. You do have to be conscious of what you are eating. Logging, calculating etc. If not, pounds sneak on. Same as not tracking spending. Debt sneaks on. I am glad you are at the place in your journey to do this. It will be entertaining to watch. But technically it is still a form of budgeting. Good luck! Glad to see you bak on youtube!

Budget. Spending plan. Potato potatoe. You can call it whatever you want to. I call mines a budget. And my budget does exactly what he calls a spending plan. My budgeting has allowed me to track my spending. Making a plan for my money. Save money. Pay off debt.

conscious spending actually sounds really good. my current plan is to invest, pay my bills, and get a second source of income. I am doing ok because I don't have too many expenses.

I think it would be misleading to say that a CSP is not budgeting. It is just a different method, more like a 50-30-20 vs zero based .
