I cried all the way through this video... It's devastating to know your heart is actually trying to save you from something your brain believes is a terrible threat, when really "nothing" in happening. I mean, something is happening and it's uncomfortable but it's not dangerous. And it breaks my heart cause I hate the feeling because deep down I know nothing terrible is happening but my brain tricks me into believe it is. And it's so debilitating... People think: oh, just think about something different. Oh, sorry, I hadn't thought about that, genius! 😒😒😒 I envy so, so much the people that never get to go through this... I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. The feeling of hopelessness you experience is like nothing you can compare to.
I hug all of you who are struggling with panic disorder. It gives me comfort to know I'm not only...

    My symptoms:
    1. Shifting chest pain
    2. Heart palpitations (I can hear my heart beat in my neck and sometimes in the centre my chest)
    3. Chest pain with heart palpitations (the moment I have chest pain, within 2-5 secs palpitations start)
    4. Tingling sensations and pricking sensation in my wrist , back And feet
    5. Chest pain radiating to the hands
    6. Heartburn
    7. Acid reflux (rare symptoms)
    8. Muscle tension
    9. Panic attacks and breathless (usually after having fights with my family members)
    10. Chest tightness
    11. Hypertension
    12. Cramps in the lower and upper abdomen
    13. Ear getting blocked
I did 3 ECGs, echocardiogram, endoscopy, sugar test, blood test, thyroid test, utrasound, c.t scan. All reports are normal... Now finally after 1 month of fear and struggling I have started to accept that I'm physically fine, and it's just anxiety

This is so relatable!! I remember how I forced my doctor to do repeated ECGs to know what was wrong with my heart. The worst part is that you are so embarrassed by the panic attacks happening again and again, that the next time you have a panic attack you don't even want to tell your parents because they think it's nothing to worry about. But in my mind, I think what if this time it's an actual attack, and what if I keep on thinking it will pass, it will pass, but then I pass away. I always get anxieties in such layers.

Anxiety is a mental thing and not a body thing in a sense to whereas it can’t trigger a heart attack within a healthy heart. • @grumblekin
    @grumblekin Před rokem +45

Adrenaline and cortisol can modulate the heartbeat without you feeling it. Then, when you do the OCD checking and find it isn't where you think it needs to be, it can hop up 30 bpm just in 1 second! I found this out when I was distracted during a finger pulse ox reading...it was 70bpm. As soon as I looked back, it went up to 90bpm!
The fear that it's out of control release more adrenaline and keeps the rate up. It sucks. You can get shallow breathing, muscle tension in the chest (especially in the pecs), and hypersensitivity to Internal feelings. The more you are aware, the worse it gets...and once your subconscious is alert to it, you will be constantly aware. The 3 or 4 people you know that died of sudden heart attacks, your overweight health check, your slightly high cholesterol, stories of people dropping dead while alone...it amplifies the perception of danger. Then you get the adrenaline dump, panic and crash afterwards.
The crash is even worse...because now you think there really IS something wrong. And the cycle is reinforced. Insomnia because you can't sleep while your heart pounds, fatigue from chronic adrenaline release, crashes from temporary adrenaline withdrawal. And then you go crazy.
If you are suffering from this, let me know and I will promise to pray for you. We will all get better! Some sooner than others...but we ALL will! I actually work in a hospital and that fuels some of my fears (because people who are actually sick are always around), but my cardiologist gave me an "above and beyond" check and found my heart is healthier than almost all his patients that are even younger than I am! Higher oxygen capacity, clearer arteries, instant adapatability, 30% higher lung capacity than others my age...my body is in its 40s yet my pulmonary system is like a 30-year-old man!
And yet....I feel tired, I feel strung out from chronic adrenaline surges and withdrawals...and then the HR is 89bpm instead of 72...and it starts all over again.
The fear of the inability to control our hearts (which we don't need to do because the built-in system is exquisitely good at it) is the source of all cardio phobia.

I keep telling myself that it is impossible to have a heart attack every day and I have had ECG done and nothing unusual was found. I had a random panic attack one morning but thought it was a heart attack and went to the ER. All my tests came back normal, but the reassurance was short-lived and I ended up going back less than 72 hours later. You guessed it--my tests were normal once again. Since then, I've had so much trouble accepting it as anxiety. Every time I feel a flutter or a sudden pain in my chest, my mind immediately goes to heart attack. No matter how much others try to reassure me, I'm always convinced the doctors missed something even though they did pretty much all the necessary tests (Troponin I, CBC, Lipase, D-Dimer, 12-lead EKG, chest X-ray...you name it)--many of them not once, but twice! It's a great comfort to know that doctors are good at diagnosing heart problems. I still plan on seeing a cardiologist to rule out the last few possibilities, but I feel more hopeful now. Thank you!

Guys. Throw away the pulsemeter. Think about the days you dint even knew the existence of it. The way you don't check your temperature everyday by thermometer. Right? The habit of checking makes your mind confused that something is wrong. Also, by checking you are doubting your powerful heart's functioning. Believe me, your heart and brain and every organs are soooo powerful machine ever made. They are designed for anxiety. For fears. For any resistance. Your heart actually fights for you and plays it's strong defence to protect you. So you doubting your own heart is like doubting its protection it's doing for you. Believe me, your heart knows the drill more than you. You being weak on the outer and while your heart is being sooo strong inner. Think of the days you were sooo adventurous, partying, went through extreme pressures and stress and yet you could easily overcome that.? How? Your heart made you strong and made you live that. Nand if you could survive some heavy days, some good days without even worrying, yes you have a strong heart. Otherwise your heart would have not played strong and you would have fallen long back. Your heart made you live these years it is designed to make you live for years. Strong and powerful. The only small thing is you! Yes you. You have to control and cheer your heart daily for keeping you strong. Just say. Hi. Heart. Good work. I trust you. I am so grateful that you are so strong and you keep me going for life. And you are so healthy. Just say this. Also, the next time, you know you have the feeling of dying, also few hours later you survived right? You lived the day. You lived few more days untill you thought again and anxiety came back and you felt this all over again. Remember, you survived the day when you thought you couldn't, shows it was your fear and nothings wrong. So next time if it again comes back or you fear just say, huh! I know my heart is strong for this. And I survived all the days I was fearing, Wait few more hours, and I am surviving again and living the day. Soon this phobia will go. Also. Do some meditation. You need to connect with your heart. With all the fears and doubts, you definitely lost in touch with your heart. And meditation is the only way to support your heart and other organs and cheering it up for them. Also a back story, i had anxiety attack for the first time one month ago and while I was sleeping with a rested heart. And I lived alone in a foreign country . My pulse shooted sky. My family was in a different country. With different time. Doctors said its nothing. Then it happened again. And I didn't even knew what was happening, or what was anxiety attack even untill the doctors said this to me. My mom is keeping me strong. She is like it's your fears. You are totally fine and you don't need ECG. Even few doctors said you don't need ECG. I trust them even though I have this feeling and phobia. But all I am doing is giving affirmations. Meditating and just cutting and erasing the thoughts that are making me weak and doubtful. So without ECG, with this phobia, I am in a process to overcome this strongly and boldly facing it. Affirming my already strong heart thus making it even stronger. Your heart is more stronger than you. Hope it helps :)

As you said, you can get reassurance from your doctor, and you feel great when you leave the clinic...but what happens a month or two down the line when your heart skips a beat and the reassurance is gone?
I'm convinced that the solution is not to seek 100% certainty that nothing is wrong because no doctor can guarantee you will survive even today, let alone tomorrow and for the next 50 years. If you want absolute certainty that you are going to live to a 100 years, such certainty is unattainable.
The trick is to accept your horrible thoughts. When your brain starts scaring you that your heart is failing etc...just go along with it. Say, Thank you, brain, yes, I'm gonna die soon. Start thinking what will happen next, are your affairs in order, will your family be taken care of, your funeral...think how surprised everyone will be when they realize you were right all along, your health anxiety was 100% warranted! Don't fight it, humor your brain, and you will notice that your brain will start giving up on trying to scare you. No point when you're not getting scared!
don't run away from anxiety, run into it.

You would experience swollen feet and ankles as your heart can no longer circulate blood and other bodily fluids. Shortness of breath and very tired.

I suffer from Hyperthyroidism and a common side effect is anxiety. I’ve had heart rates in the 130s up to 160 at times while doing very menial tasks like grocery shopping, showering, or even just cleaning the house. My anxiety purely stems from my heart. It may sound hard to believe but I could be feeling 100% normal and if I notice my heart rate is a little high it instantaneously causes me a lot of anxiety. I’m getting better at dealing with it and overcoming it but he’s not wrong, it is an extremely vicious cycle

I have been having a panic attack since morning - 12 hours straight. My heart is continously beating as though I am in intense fear of my life.
I had a meeting with my manager today and he was really annoyed that I didn't finish my work sooner (I have been working non-stop + weekends + nights but I have been running into issues and errors again and again). I am feeling sad that my work is trivialized as a simple CRUD operation plus it must be easy because similar things exist + it is one of the easiest screens. It isn't... having more fields does not mean it is more complex. Figuring out new patterns and new ways to do something is more complex. This one had convoluted requirements with bi directional lookup plus lots of joins etc. Also I am new to frontend. My dad passed away recently and I am feeling overwhelmed and anxious and sad. Continously feeling like I want to jump off a ledge to just end it all.

I remember thinking it felt like my heart was going to shake apart, had a stress based bp spike of 218/115 headed to the Er they got my bp down but the next month I was so scared at anything that made me feel my pulse racing, I go back to the doctor in a panic only to find nothing is wrong I start thinking They had to have missed something but then I started to do some breathing exercises and focus on beliving this is normal and healthy and began counting the pulses like sheep and soon the anxiety all faded.

No matter how many times I read that ectopic beats are benign and harmless I can't stop being afraid of them. My brain can't equate the strange palpitation with something benign. I think this is because we grow up believing we should rarely ever feel our heartbeat and if we feel it doing something it "shouldn't", we get scared, even if that palpitation is benign. It doesn't help that my grandad had two heart attacks and died from heart disease, and my mum had a heart attack last year. Neither of them had palps.

Lasy year I got so panicked about my heart that being in my 20s I urged my doctor to get me a entire lipid profile, chest xray, troponine test, EKG, echo cardiogram. All the test were normal. Then I was told it is just amxiety. Random chest semsations, prickling, little bit of numbness due to hair breakage on my chest, etc. made me very nervous. One year later, I still keep thinking about my heart every other hour but I have learned to control my panic attacks. Whenever it starts, you know it, its coming, I just tell myself, let it come. It just a panick attack so whats the most its gonna do? I wait let it come and pass over me. Deep breathing helps. What I have learnt is that sleep is very important and good quality sleep.

It's so hard man all these heart and chest related symptoms... been to ekg 2 times and to mri and echocardiogram yet i still feel and fear them...
    1. When i wake up in the morning or when i try to fall asleep at night i wake up or jolt with pounding heart or weird feeling that goes from my chest to my head
    2. I get weird dreams that i hear my heart or that my heart is pounding and it wakes me up
    3. Sometimes when i am anxious i tend to hold my breath without knowing and i feel a pressure thump pressure bang in my chest
    4. When i take showers sometimes my heart goes crazy and i get anxious and start feeling as if i have a H A
    5. Sometimes i get so anxious that i can feel my heartbeat without checking it or the worse is when i try to fall asleep and feel it in my pillow
    6. Sometimes when i get up stand up too fast after sitting laying down i feel my heart starting racing and as if i get a tingly pressure that goes from middle chest to my head behind the ears
    7. Before going to the echocardiogram and ekg my heart anxiety got so bad that i had pains and tightness all over my chest and on the back in the torso area whenever i moved a little
Other symptoms: extremities going numb, ears popping, weird pressure in my ears when looking from side to side, dizziness, stability issues, back of the neck sometimes is tight shut and hurts, sometimes i find my self being so tense as if i am flexing my torso muscles without realising it and having to calm my body,
Vision struggle as if i can't concentrate or focus on things blurry vision, pain behind the eyes, sometimes my forehead feels like it s pressed with a rubber band.. sometimes i feel desorientated and depersonalization, and sudden rushes of heat in my body that makes me sweat allover, sensitivity to light, eye twitching, neck pulses or twitching? Hard to describe... and on and on and on
You name the symptom and i probably 99% experienced it in the last half a year since my first panic attack happened. The interesting part is that the more i concentrate on the symptoms the scaries and extreme they get. It's hard. I am only 24 and my health anxiety and ipohondria is through the roof somedays.

Most panic attacks are caused by anxiety and depression. Additionally, much of the chest pain people experience is due to gastric issues in the stomach, but it can be terrifying because it feels like a heart attack.
And its true our body is designed for protect itself, so don't waste money to the doctors, best medicine is go for a morning walk everyday for 45 minutes

I experience this sometimes right before I have a real cardiac event. It's nuts. Having a heart condition and anxiety makes life a bit more difficult. I run my doctors crazy. First thing they say is why didn't you go to the doctor when your chest hurt? My answer is if I did that I would be in the hospital nearly every week 😢
