Thanks😊 here i sing in middle of sort of free hanging thick duvets... i can sort of pull them together.. they absorb a lot and with closed windows it sems to be ok. And once i got distracted in a car.. while singing and had a near accident. Now always parking in a good spot... as the car i a wonderful place to sing (for me)😅

ask the hotel if they have a room you can use. like an empty conference room. conference rooms are usually sound proofed to keep the noise of a crowd in from other parts of the hotel

Ugh, I'm the same way! Can't practice/warm-up comfortably in our apartment, esp when my husband is home. I can't stand the thought of neighbors hearing me, regardless of how I sound. I miss having a house...

I get so self conscious I start tensing up and my voice suffers it, so I can't at home, only lip trills. 😭

Ohmigosh, I have THE SAME ISSUE! I only sing out when people are not at home. Even then, my neighbors once fessed up to me that when they heard me start to sing, they'd pull out their lawn chairs and sit on the porch! Yikes!
Thanks for the NYC practice room reference.

also if you have a church near by you can ask the music director if you can use/practice in the space. usually they agree if you are willing to put on a small recital ect!

Opera America! But SHHH! Don't want it to get too popular ;) (...too late). Also I work at a music school so I use the practice room on my lunch break! Saves me lots of money on rent-per-hour rooms!

I saw something called a belt box on amazon, haven't tried it yet, but it's some sort of cushion to muffle the sound

I totally get it. I'm living in a flat. I've got people next to me, above me and below me. And I've been "singing" only for about a year so I make sooooo many mistakes and all and the fact that they all can hear me practise, trying to find the right place for the sound, sometimes cracking and not being able to fully control my voice - it just drives me nuts. I cannit concentrate on the sound because I am worried of what they'll think and that really sucks because I can't really practise good if I'm more concerned about the neighboors than my own instrument. :(

Krowa Paulinka I take it as performance practise :) I think developing a bit of a thick skin is quite necessary for performance anyway. I've actually had people mock me and imitate me while I was trying to practice, but I just kept going because you know what? in the end I'll be able to sing classically and they won't. Their opinion isn't worth it if they have that kind of attitude. at least I'm trying to better myself :)

Well, I'm obviously the only one who doesn't have problem with the neighbours. Yes I feel uncomfortable, when I know somebody is listnening to me, whether I sound good or not ( well I prefer to sound good all the time, but ofc that's not possible xD ) But actually i sing a lot in my apartament and nobody is making a problem of it
