Ooooh, looks like fun! I LOVE operas/productions where you're allowed to be more real, scary, and even ugly (Dialogues of the Carmelites is still one of my favorites). :)
I was wondering if you could do a video talking more about what it was like for you to transition from school to YAPs and then to a professional career? Especially because you have a large voice, what was your experience being a student/apprentice with a large voice? What things did you learn that are maybe not obvious?
Anyway, I love your channel and I hope you continue making videos!

To Carlos Acevedo, Ask the company what edition they are using. It's useful if there are cuts or anything like that to have the same bar numbers etc. You don't need the full orchestral score. Unless you want to study every single part. It's easier to learn and memorize from a vocal score. (It wouldn't let me reply to your comment directly so I hope you see this) For Boheme, The Schirmer score would work just fine. www.amazon.com/La-Boheme-Vocal-Schirmer-Editions/dp/0793538521

Hi Tammy, loving your videos. Do you think you could make a video talking about the ins and outs of Fach? I've struggled with people telling me I belong to vastly different Fachs in lessons and auditions (from Spinto to Soubrette. Seriously -_-) and because of this find choosing repertoire a complete minefield. Thanks :) xxx

+Tessa Mckean This is such a tough subject because fach can depend very much on the teacher and taste, when it should really just be about learning technique in the beginning and figuring out the rest later.
I should let you know, the fach system was invented to help administrators who have huge repertory companies find singers who could perform multiple roles in a season. It became a short cut. I don't care what roles people "think" you should sing, if you don't have a solid technique dealing with the particular sounds and mechanisms of YOUR voice, it won't matter.
I've sung, Fledermaus, Handel, Bach, Verdi, Wagner, Mozart, Strauss. Voice first, fach second.
Of course if you don't have a high extension, some things will be ruled out. Likewise if your low isn't your forte. Again, you find that out with your voice teacher before working on opera repertoire.
Also, just because you sing a particular composer a lot, does not mean every role that composer writes is right for you. Often times pieces that are 'technically' in your range still don't feel right or settle correctly. Sometimes this can just be a matter of age and development. Learn a whole role before deciding if it's in your "fach" or not. Don't only concentrate on the arias. Often times the arias are the easiest parts of a role.

Hey Tammy! Quick question, what should I get when looking for an opera score? I'm going to be in the chorus for Boheme and it's my first ever opera! Do I need the full orchestral score or will the vocal score be fine? Which edition should I get? What do you use? lol so much for quick
