    It was when the pga tour started making the tour wrap around the year. That’s what ended the Australian and other smaller tours. Remember the Nedbank million dollar challenge in South Africa and then Australia had the Australian open, pga and Masters (it was the gold jacket😅). Because the pga tour was in their off season during November to Feb back in the day, top golfers could go play and help support other tours now they can’t really as it clashes with the pga events. The likes of Adam Scott, Min Woo Lee, Cam smith etc came back to support the tour in Australia whereas Jason Day hasn’t come back for many years when he could have. PGA totally screwed the Australian tour and with LIV it’s their only chance to get high calibrr fields there now. Jack Nicklaus, Tiger have won multiple times in Australia. Not only in Australia did the fans turn out for LIV but in Hong Kong as their first ever time to get such a strong field. That’s what golf should be about. Like you guys said why don’t they just let LIV make it for a worldwide tour. You might only need say 8-10 events but to have more elite players playing in countries and places where it’s hard to access elite players playing in one field. These PGA loyalty payments might even make it worse off for the pga, basically youre paying such a big chunk of the $$$ just to the top few guys whereas the other guys who would need it more basically get not much again. Out of spite guys might jump to LIv

    It is all about the A in PGAT, this is an American corporation who swallowed the rest of world golf for their own consumption and to put a product on US TV every weekend. The Earth spins on its axis giving summers/winters. Prior to the 2000's top talent played in the USA then came to Australia/South Africa in the US winter for 4-6 tournaments (not to grow the game, but to compete, The Australian Open was called the 5th major for a reason, the South African open from memory is the longest running open in the world, the prize money was also good). Nicklaus was not a 6 times Australian open winner and Gary Player 7 by accident. The honour role included Tom Watson/Bobbie Locke, while more like Arnold Palmer and Payne Stewart came close (these were in the days it took two days and 3 stops by plane not private jets). The movement to make the PGAT and OWGR which NOW act as one was a deliberate play to control all talent into continental USA as was the mechanism to lock players there for 40+ weeks a year with the Fed Ex cup etc. In the early 2000's you could have players like Luke Donald, Kaymer as world #1 who based themselves outside the USA, that is no longer an option, you must grind it out week in week out on PGAT. WORLD GOLF did not change, just PGAT monopoly of it (love clowns like Brandel and Monaghan calling Australia an emerging market, with all due respect PISS OFF). And yes you can say nobody forces them to play 40+ weeks in the US of A, but if they did not then their rankings suffered as OWGR became the stick that forced players into specific tournaments. Players all reported burnout, the elites have made it clear they want to play 20-25 times a year, and until LIV that meant life in continental USA and two weeks out for the Open and a warm up on links. PGAT has not missed a trick with Australia, what it did was deliberate and commercial it bullied and crushed all world tours (even DP) as any dominant business will do. Many of us see LIV as the liberator to right these wrongs, so to believe LIV does not have a massive following worldwide is nuts. By the way Monaghan realising he has left Australia out his suggestion was to send a Korn Fery event down here............ yes master many thanks...... If I sound like sour grapes read the 100's of thousands of BBQing Sunday Americans claiming LIV is stealing their game, then you know what PGAT did to all other tours (there has not been harmony for decades just a dictator tour). No other global sport, F1, Athletics, Tennis, swimming, Olympics has taken the route of PGAT and now it is suffering, importantly the players are not, choice has returned for them, despite the best efforts of Jay and others to brand them supporters of 9/11 killers, and ensuring they cannot as independent contractors play where they chose!

    @alienrenders Před měsícem +4

    The loyalty payments are a sign that there will be no deal. PGAT has always operated on the assumption that LIV has already failed. Ironically, it's the PGAT that is already dead. I haven't watched it in over a decade except recently I tried watching 5 events to compare and it's still unwatchable. I don't recognize any of the names except for maybe a handful. And these no names are winning.
    PGAT has operated under one strategy and one strategy only. To delay and not give an inch to LIV until they close shop. That's all they've ever done. That's all they will ever do. They believe LIV has already failed and it's just a matter of time until they fold. They've now secured their top players from going to LIV. So now it's a game of attrition and that was the whole point of SSG investment. It's the ONLY thing that makes sense. No one enters a field where all your top talent is being poached.
    I'm saying it now. This is do or die for PGAT. If LIV sticks around, PGA fails. They're in it to the death right now. The problem for LIV right now is how are they going to get new players?
    If there was signs of an agreement, we'd have seen it by now. But PGAT, OWGR and the majors haven't given an inch to LIV. OWGR just gave a 36 tour ranking points. It's all politics and money. PGAT still bans players. DP Tour is still fining LIV players. PGAT is still sanctioning courses that host LIV events. It's not getting better.

    • @mineshjogia9945
      @mineshjogia9945 Před měsícem

      This equity plan changes nothing for LIV, they can and will still buy players. Players may think a little longer before they take a deal, but money talks at the end of the day. Also going forward LIv doesn't need to always buy players from the PGAT ranks, there is a whole world of new talent coming through across the world.

    • @alienrenders
      @alienrenders Před měsícem +1

      @colinclelland8960 Před měsícem

    Adelaide was huge last year and other LIv events have been a huge success. But you can’t expect everyone to have a civilized party like Adelaide. Many places for cultural reasons will party less but enjoy it just as much. And some will party more and maybe not be so civilized. It’s a case by case basis as this DP guy Kinney likes to say.
    Keep in mind Adelaide coverage started around 3 pm in the islands, 6 pm on the west coast and around 9 on the east: we call that PRIME TIMe!
    The pga tour loyalty payouts are a joke. But at least less of a joke than pip, which may be the biggest joke I’ve ever heard of.
    Fact check: a little less than 1$ billion is being shared by players . Not 1.5. That extra half will go for other things; which of course no one knows exactly what.

    LIV is an international golf tour for golf followers in the rest of the world.
    Americans have to realize at some point that America is not the center of the world! Everything golf does not need to be by and for the PGA (America)...there are more golfers and golf followers/fans in the rest of the world than in America.
    A golf follower/fan doesn't just stop following or watching golf. That 35% fewer viewers of PGA events...they are now LIV viewers.

    And I don't care a hoot about LIV golf. I am a traditionalist.
    As far as this reward, 100M is justified for Tiger, but you know, Tiger is a loyal American and would not sell his soul. I believe Tiger would have stayed even without this bonus, because he loves what the PGA tour means to him. There are so many Americans, like myself, who believe in loyalty and tradition and to hell with the money as well. The PGA tour is paying good money already and no matter how much is on the line, all these players are always doing there best.
    There is never going to be enough money. What I do know is, my Home, Auto and Life insurance will all cost me more, due to these deals being made behind the scenes of the PGA.
