Jade Barbosa is so important for brazilian gymnastics, she did history in the sport.
For south america, a gymnast like Jade is spectacular and is a promese for the future of the sport.
Im so happy to see new countries go to world and olympic medals.
Shawn's performance here is so similar to Shannon Miller's at the 1993 worlds. They were both AA champions but fell multiple times on the beam event finals
It's very unusual to see such a precise gymnast as Shawn Johnson falling off the beam. Even the best ones have bad days
I loved how Catalina was clever enough to catch up two potential mistakes and rush her Omelianchik in order to finish before the bell... too bad she missed by one second.
I can't believe Cata went over time, and to me she didn't pause that much!
I don't like that gymnasts win with falls however Li's routine was so solid that she deserved her medal
To be honest, I really love the commentatory from Bart Connor :) He has such a passion for gymnastics. Far better than Tim Dagget

Li Shanshan fell on a pretty hard turn (held the 180° split), a work of art for the rest of the routine. Still, a little bit overscored imo.
Stuttgart was an amazing world championships for the us.
Stela is probably a nickname for Steliana, the way Nastia is a nickname for Anastasia.

I just wanted to point out the irony (five years later) :D Unfortunately, I remember which 3 gymnasts fall, even though it's been over a decade since I've watched this. I recall looking this up on CZcams after Li Shanshan's performance here was mentioned during the '08 Beijing beam final. My unsolicited advice is to not read comments until after you've watched a competition. It's much easier said than done though!!! :)

you're right, that's kind of a nickname, only that Steliana is partly not a very common name among Romanian names, that's the feminin of Stelian, which is an usual name for men instead, so they adopted the nick Stela, that has no connection with Steliana except the identical letters. (I'm Romanian)

skiergirl131994 Yes, Australia qualified in 5th place. The team final results were as follows: CHN, USA, ROM, RUS, JPN, AUS (6th), FRA, BRA

Tasha should never be allowed to say the words "huge," "definite/definitely," or "beautiful" in her commentary. In fact, she might want to take a break from commentary altogether...

Steliana, there is only one thing that was not flawless about her routine. The Dismount. She landed on the side and then kind of tipped off the mat. Huh.
I am so mad at Catalina. She stayed in the handstand too long, and only had like ten seconds to make dismount, and she didn't, automatic deduction. Time deduction.
not sure i a few people told me that she just wasnt in it and didnt want to continue... though rumour she may try out at olympic trials anyway...Hope so!
Li, so far, I've seen two swing downs in her routine. But that first combination, breathtaking. astonishing. amazing. I was shocked. I hate to say it, but I don't see Nastia beating that.
