Nice work. Here I was hoping a couple guys with a wrench could replace my chewed belt no problem... Well, this is way better than the drawing board-- thanks.

Replacing the tension idlers and belt all together would’ve been your best bet. Take the motor mount out allows you to raise & lower the engine giving more access to the tensioner and its mounting bolt. Huge pita for a serpentine belt. Good on you for powering through and completing the job.

Thanks for doing this video. It helped me a bunch to get access to the tensioner.

Replacing the serpentine belt was tough for me on my 09 Kia Optima because nobody has ever showed me how to replace one before. The kia optima was tough because its on their sideways compared to 2006 jeep liberty where the serpentine belt is in the front of the motor. It took me 3 days to figure it out but what i ended up doing on the 09 kia optima was, after I took off the serpentine belt to replace it with a new one, I had to remove the power steering hose so I could have extra room to put a wrench in the small space and pull up on the tensioner with the wrench. I than used a zip tie around the motor mount and around the wrench so it could pull the wrench for me instead of me struggling to pull the wrench back to put on the new belt. I was able to use both of my hands to put on the new belt but because it was so new and tight i had to use a wrench side ways to pull the new belt on. It was tough but after you put on the new belt you can than cut the zip tie to release the wrench on the tensioner.

Thanks. I'm struggling to get my belt off, too. Same Yr and Model. Any other tips by chance? Also, what tool did you use?

I'm not sure if you realize this but this is the only video on CZcams that shows what you did... You could show how you got the pulleys off though. Nobody seems to show that....

Yes, im sorry I wasn't clear on that. I just used a 15 mm wrench to get the idler pulleys off.

I used to own a 2008 ford crown vic thinking that serpentine belt was hard to change, but it was walk in the park compared to this shit, lol. I have an 09 sonata with the same engine, I am not even gonna attempt to touch this belt. Leaving it to my mechanic

I believe they were mostly 15mm bolts. The plastic panel was held on with 10mm bolts.
