Thanks for all the help Scotty much respect brother. I've learned a lot from your show and I appreciate it. I wish there was more patriots like it brother God bless much respect
Scotty can you talk about lightweight aluminum crank pullies in a video some people say that they cause crank/bearings to wear out others say they’re fine and a cheap way to free up some horsepower thanks. I just put one on my accord one mechanic even refused to install it because he said it would destroy my engine! Stock pulley is 7 lbs the aluminum one from Unorthodox Racing is 0.8 lbs

Thanks for the information Scotty.

Bring back Auto Shop to high schools. I’ve saved thousands of $$ I was able to invest! Life skills are extremely important! Thanks for all your knowledge sharing, Scotty!
You mean they do not have Auto Shop in high schools! I took Auto Shop in 1967 and it helped me learn a lot about autos way before Scotty did however I am still learning from him.
Same here I took auto mechanics in highschool too. I learned alot. Almost had a tractor bucket fall on me! What doesn't kill you makes you stranger!😀😀😀
I've always heard back then schools even taught you how to weld and solder electronics, I was born too late haha
@@Ninnuam999 yes that's what we learned too. They school had body shops too. My friend took building trades and he helped build several houses and then got a job in the trade.
@@Ninnuam999 Yes, indeed! Auto shop, metal shop, wood shop....is there any wonder the reason we are short on tradesmen? We have witnessed the “wussification” of our youth. We need to right the ship and bring back the trades to high schools. The long term budget effects are extremely beneficial to our economy.
It's amazing how there is no one else on CZcams that tells the truth and cares as much as Scotty does
AGREE
I discovered him a week ago. He has truly help me gain some serious knowledge about my hondas.
I find a lot of them might tell you steps 1 and 2, skip steps 3 and 4 then they cut to the job being done and say "There you go it's done, like and subscribe" and you're like "Uh.....Okay I'm lost because you skipped most of the steps just showed the first part and when you had finished it up...." 😂 With Scotty however, he tells everything you need to know, it's great! Some of these CZcamsrs don't tell you everything you need to know....Scotty is very good at explaining and breaking things down so it's easy to understand! 😁
Taking a picture before you start taking stuff apart is actually very smart. You can tell he's a good mechanic
Imagine the amount of money Scotty has save folks over all these years, incredible.
Got to be atleast 6 figures, damn!
Since Scotty doesn’t trust anybody the picture was hilarious 😂

You are absolutely the most amazingly helpful & knowledgeable car mechanic I have ever heard of & I truly appreciate you!! Been turning to you videos for years. Thank you so much for being so giving with knowledge.
Always so helpful and considers others question, one of the best selfless people out there.
I never got back a torque wrench that was borrowed from me, so this is a “clean, non-offensive comment”!

I love how scotty can't say "beauty cover" without calling it stoopid, regardless of make or model 😂
Haha he hates the plastic covers.
Covers deflect noise. So they do have actual purpose. But I hate👿 em too!
As a autozone employee who changes battery daily for costumers I do hate when batteries have protectors or covers it makes the job harder so i understand Scotty why he hates the covers it’s just extra work
Kinda like saying pregnant man
Can we just apreciate the amount of time and videos he makes just for us to watch?
Always enjoy watching and listening to someone who shares their honest and straight forward opinion, especially in today’s world. All the best from Canada
I’m glad to see a good old fashioned honest technician. I have learned a lot from you.
Scotty, I appreciate your honesty & willingness to share your "trade secrets." It's like all of us have a Master Mechanic in our family right here on CZcams! Not like the oil companies that won't tell YOU the additives or amounts thereof!

Very cool as usual! Scotty is the best and smartest mechanic out there! Now I feel like I can replace my own serpentine belt!! Thank you Scotty.
I never thought I’d be able to change a belt like this. Scotty makes it look so easy.

Looks like Scotty is adjusting well to his new surroundings. Been watching your videos for a while now and really enjoy the content.
You are the most trusted car expert on youtube! Salute to scotty kilmer 😄
Hi Mr.Kilmer, Since watching your videos I have learned about the basics of mechanics of vehicles and I have considered your opinions from the past to the present about which is dependable and has quality. I am not a mechanic but it is a awesome dedication in helping people out something that I have not seen in many, many years. Thank you. Bless you. Be safe. :)
Just bought a 2014 Lexus rx350 and we love it. Thanks for the reminder that I need to check the drive belt. Also thank you Scotty for what you do, you really help people out. Be careful going to Boston.
Make sure it never had engine or transmission problems, those cost a arm and a leg to fix
Quick Tip: Keep the old belt in the car (in the trunk) in case you have a problem. Maybe even a simple socket set too so you can install the belt if yours breaks while on the road. In most vehicles, you can install a fan belt with minimal fuss (cars it's a bit harder because the engine compartment is smaller and things are crammed in more, plus they are generally transverse).
A good sepentine belt will probably run you about $50-80. Don't buy the cheap $20 belts. You get what you pay for and they likely could break within a few years, and obviously, at the most inconvenient time. Just spend the extra money. It's something you replace every 8-10 years and could become a safety thing if your vehicle stalls because the belt breaks. Not worth it to save $50.
Top Gear has gone down hill since they started spinning off the original BBC one with Clarkson, Hammond and May. I mean the one with Wood, Fererra and and Faust is OK but after that it's sort of gotten dumb, sort of like the FAst and Furious over the years. It was good for a few movies, but after that it was the same thing over and over again, different crew and location.
.... the fast and furious crack 😂😂😂
Different crew? It's the same crew. Just bringing them back to life after they get killed off lol
And added some losers like jon cena
Another pro tip: always buy from a autozone. So if it does break down, pull into an AZ and warranty it out
I just want to say thank you for being one of the most reliable and realtabe sources for figuring out my car.
Hey Scotty! Thanks for all the videos that you make it really helps and it's super fun to watch and learn new things with your videos. :)
This video came out at the perfect time. The belts in my 2011 Ford Mustang with 125,000 miles just starting squeaking when I start the car!
Just put 2 teaspoon of grease on the belt and drive. Squeaks will be gone and you can probably get 20000 miles more of your belt.
I bought a 2000 Lexus es300 at 190k and so far I replaced the brake pads/rotors, spark plugs and I'm about to do the struts. They were so bad that the automated car wash bent my back strut and now the tire is rubbing. I love watching your videos!!! I trust what you're saying and I love your energy!!! I love learning about cars because people don't expect a lot of women to be concerned about taking care if their car, mine is 21yrs old now and luckily for me almost everything was replaced under the hood b4 I bought it😁😁
I’m new to your CZcams channel & I’m so blessed bcoz Scot is very straight forward, practical & actual in his teaching & you can easily understand the problem & the solutions so thank you so much to your experience that you shared with us God bless you more!!!

Thank you for all your helpful videos. My favorite was the one showing how to "Replace a Power Steering Rack". Always remember the difference between a belt and a chain - a loud belt can snap after a while, a quiet chain already has
I'm sorry but that's a shitty saying.
Chains can be silent and they can also be loud soo
@@dailydoseofpwnage It's a joke, not a saying. When most people think of chains, their first thought is the noise they often make when in use.

Hi Scotty, should the tensioner be changed too while changing the belt? Some brands (BMW) recommend that. Probably not a bad idea as the tensioner is a moving part and can definitely wear out.
Only if it's loose. You can easily tell if it's still working or not. But no, definitely don't change a part that's still working fine.
