  • I've had several wrong side drivers and a motorcyclist given prosecution notices by the police, and with little difference to these examples, so something odd is going on.

    I’ve been on this corner as a cyclist turning left to complete the Regents Park Loop. I must say I’m always very cautious after watching these videos. I’m alarmed that no prosecutions are being made for these impatient drivers. We go back again to question what is the police doing to combat misdemeanours in the society? Pls start a petition Mikey and I’m sure you’ll get a lot of support!

      It's because motorists are being emboldened by the insulate Britain bad publicity... Personally I don't agree with all that because it's, all in all, a bad take on environmentalism for a number of reasons the demands aren't thought through far enough. It's going to really ramp up motorist sense of entertainment against an activity like this...

    The majority of the people verbally abusing you were the people you are trying to protect, I bet their attitude would change if or when they get hit by a vehicle driving in the wrong side of the road.
    The attitude of these drivers is absolutely disgusting. Who the hell do they think they are?? It’s going to take someone getting killed here before they take this problem seriously.

    With driving down the entire length of the road on the wrong side, to bypass all the traffic,
    then continuing to block the road, while he argues a point he doesn't have. He should lose
    his licence, he's either acting dumb as a way of bypassing rules, or is dangerously stupid.

    My British cynicism says that they have stopped prosecuting because Mikey is showing up the police force in this country. They hope he will give up and go away. Despite Mikey's amazing work, the police and government don't like vigilantes.

      The drivers going up onto the payment, [road blocked by illegal car] with children walking with their parents; another disaster could come from it - maybe thats why the MET is backing off; so much is illegal in these videos, even the road rage words of some the onlookers; the black girl in the Merc was among the worst in a recent video

    Well done and keep on going at it. I commuted for about 20 years, in the UK and Canada, they only times I got hit was by drivers breaking the rules. You were spot on when you said he was taking a chance. He knows what he is doing, but nobody else expects it, that's the problem they don't understand.

      I feel that this is one of the main issues/factors. Some people genuinely don't know that what they're doing is wrong or dangerous (not an excuse, obviously). This can be combined with inflated egos and aggression but in some cases I think they're just braindead. There is a failing somewhere, whether in the driving lesson and test process or elsewhere...

    I don't understand why the police have suddenly changed their response to these drivers. Previously you were having pretty much 100% hit rate with the police prosecuting each one. Is there anyone you can speak to to understand why? Good for standing your ground. Annoys me when bystanders complain it's not your job. As if all members of the public should simply ignore people being dangerous and breaking the law. Keep up the good work and stay safe.

    The police just need to fix this street to remove the temptation for traffic to go the wrong side of the pedestrian island. Examples are adding bollards or a curb along the centre of the road.

    The cyclist stood there arguing that you should let him pass, what if he got run over at that corner would he still be telling you to let the driver pass ? and I think that type of cyclist goes through red lights giving other cyclist a bad name.

    Hi Mikey,
    Do you have the complaint or contact information for the department that are dealing with these videos? And the local MP that covers the area?
    I find the trend of no action disturbing and is reinforcing dangerous driving.
    I am a driver and a cyclist, all road users should be held accountable.
    Thanks for highlighting the issue

      I reported a guy in a fiat abarth doing well over 120 mph and across all lanes of the motorway, even doing a hint of sliding around a lorry to get back from the hard shoulder to lane 3. Sent HD footage back and front.
      Police sent me a letter saying I needed to have one independent witness inside my car, despite having a mercedes with 2 other people next to me who saw exactly the same. On that basis they refused to go any further.
      The point is, that abarth driver came out of nowhere like a missile. and disappeared even quicker. Someone is going to be killed.

      @@Manu-Official that sort of response is worth escalating, the idea that clear video footage cannot be actioned unless you have an independent human witness in your car with you at the time of recording is just ridiculous.
      If you had video footage of you and your car being attacked by a road rager with a tyre iron, what that officer is suggesting is that if you don't have an independent witness in your car, they can't do anything.
      I can't help but think that if you had a passenger in your car witness the Abath incident, that officer would come up with another reason why they couldn't do anything about it. And if you could meet that requirement, they'd make up yet another reason why they couldn't investigate.

      CCTV footage is used daily to prosecute ,you don’t have two humans watching it in control rooms mostly only one .

      Law says of course that you can't drive on the wrong side of the road, but it also says to not create traffic man

    Good to see you’ve got back up from others when you’re getting grief. If people stop getting involved when dangerous things occur to others, the world would be a very sad and dangerous place. Good on you Mikey. I wish there were people like you on the tube stopping people trying to cop a feel of others. I was 14 when this happened to me and everyone just lifted their newspapers or looked the other way. It’s people like you that put a bit of faith in me and others that there are good people on this planet.

    The fact none were prosecuted, and this has been mentioned in a recent video that they weren't prosecuted, suggests to me the police have decided to ignore your efforts, That is very wrong of them, if true.... letting drivers get away with this behaviour will encourage others and inevitably end up with someone injured or worse... Well done to you, and finally the idiot saying you weren't a policeman, well he really is just an idiot, hope he reads this....

      Again, The Polices' job is to enforce the law, which they do. The job of prosecuting is down to the CPS, judges and magistrates

      I suspect someone with a bit of influence got caught and prosecuted by footage sent in by a member of the public and they have barked enough to cause the prosecution team to take a step back from using submitted footage.

    There must have been some change at the police processing end. I hope you keep a good record of the number of ignored cases as it is clearly negligence on their side, and there is bound to be an opportunity in the future when matters get out of hand. Some officer could well be committing a section 26 offence and needs to be caught and prosecuted.

    Another factor is that trade vehicles, eg vans and lorries, are only allowed in Regents park to do collections & deliveries, they're not allowed to use it as a route to drive through.

    As a motorcycle rider and instructor I am appaled at how many people break the law and think its ok. The motorcycle riders attitude was disgusting and he should know how vulnerable he is. If he were hit off he would be the first to complain. I am also really annoyed that they are not prosecuting these drivers, it means that people will chance it even more if they think they can get away with it and it puts so many peoples lives at risk. Keep going Mikey, I think its great what you are trying to achieve. People need to be held accountable. I only hope that you don't get hurt in the process as some of these people think its ok to try and push through you. Keep safe man and good job.

    I think we are all going to have to start sending letters to the department responsible for TORs, and perhaps an MP or two, to complain that they are deliberately ignoring evidence of breaches of legislation. They are suddenly not living up to their mission of "Tackling the vehicles, drivers, and road user behaviour that cause the greatest risk on the roads."
    I wonder if it is data collation time, and "Somebody" is trying to keep the figures artificially low by not processing actionable events.

      I suspect political will may be conflicted just like the public reactions, as surely the law could make it so a fine could be partly used to pay for any staffing required, especially if fines were based on income. And looks like the process can be quite automated anyway with a special uploads website and if notices can be sent to a registered smartphone for that number plate and if police issued certified recording hardware with included upload feature to prevent video tampering delaying prosecution
