You're making some of the best Pauper content out there. Thank you and keep up the great work!
Thanks so much for the kind words!
Tweaking and finalizing my invisible Stalker voltron/control. Sounds fun and sneaky, able to steal a game or two
This sounds like a lot of fun -- I'd love to see your list when you finalize it!
I was surprised to see the Common Cause tournament mentioned, considering how soon this came out after it. Hopefully I'll get more Teshar showings out here for ya ;)
I'd love for Teshar to be on the leader board next year! Congrats on your top 4!
So cool to see a colorless deck in the list!
And Loyal Apprentice!
This video was awesome to see where the format stands nowaydays. Great to see how it consolidates Gretchen and TPI as the boogeymen, followed closely by malcolm and abdel. Important to notice that Abdel also put in results with candlekeep and iron throne, so maybe he should have been bumped up one position in the final analysis, even if the background has changed.
I definitely see where you're coming from with regards to Abdel -- he did get 4 top appearances between the three different decks. I think the black and the blue variants of Abdel play differently enough that I wouldn't want to lump them together, but I think a strong case could be made that Candlekeep is just a super-charged version of the Sword Coast Sailor deck, so perhaps I should have combined those two in my analysis. Thanks so much for the comment!
Hello. im a new subs. Love your channel, dude.
🥳🥳🥳
Thanks so much for watching!
An infect deck will be up there next year, mark my words. Banger video as always Ank!
I would love to see infect make its mark on the format. I know at least one of the top players has been tinkering with a list, so you absolutely may be right. Thank you for the comment!
@@ankylosaurmtg Who might that player be? I’d like to take a peek at their lists if possible.
Gatorbait has been playing around with Toggo infect recently, with the idea that you can give infect creatures rocks and either pick off creatures, or deal poison damage directly to players without getting into combat. You can find his list here: www.moxfield.com/decks/UV2dwx4VGUWgGo7QgNGLPw
@@ankylosaurmtgThank you! I have a Toggo, Ich-Tekik deck that plays Rot Wolf as a card draw engine along w those sweet poison counters. I'm def gonna compare lists. Do you know if there's any footage of that deck performing?
@@Hell_Majesty_ That sounds sweet! I'm not aware of any recorded games with Gator's deck, but if he ever plays on camera in one of the Sanctuary FNMs or at a tournament with it, I'll ping you here and let you know where you can find it!
I live In Michigan!!! Im gonna go next time iconclast for the win!
Awesome! Yes, definitely make it out to RIW's next Pauper EDH event if you can -- it was one of my Magic highlights of the year. Such a fun tournament!
Are there many webcam cpdh tournaments? Im uk based and dont know any tournaments over here so would love to play on-line seems like it would be a good mix up from cedh
Many of the cPDH tournaments that take place happen online over Discord! The biggest ones are held in the Sanctuary PDH Discord -- if you go here, you can find a link to the server with tournament details, and play pick-up webcam games there, too: www.sanctuarypdh.com
People are playing there almost every night, and they run FNM-style events with commentary on Fridays (7PM U.S. Eastern time) as well.
Been meaning to ask. So I enjoy foiling out my pauper cards because it's funny. Are these tournaments so strict regarding cards that don't have foils made of them yet or is it like modern or legacy tournaments where all cards need to be uniform. Also yes some cards are warped due to wizards card quality but nothing to to crazy will I get a dq for it? Just some questions I have been pondering lately. Thank you for the help
This is more of a question for the tournament organizer/head judge of the individual tournament, I think. While many will be okay with you running foils in your deck, it’s always best to ask first and make sure. I will say, though, that if you have a card that’s a bit warped, I would probably err on the side of caution and play a non-foil version of it instead. I can’t definitively say you’d get DQ’d -- again, that's up to the judge -- but I also wouldn’t want you to get in trouble, either!
@@ankylosaurmtg well in all honesty if I was going to a money tournament I'd just buy my deck in non foil anyway. I pick up pauper staples in foil because it's just fun to do for me. Thank you for the info though id certainly make sure to do that if given the chance
Guildmage ability really stacks holy crap
It does! It leads to some really huge turns (and is why the deck runs so many mana rocks, to let you activate 2+ times and then cast your big lifegain spells.) Thanks for watching!
So does this mean that the Pauper edh rules committee eventually decided to allow uncommon backgrounds? I kinda tuned out since they first came out and they said only common backgrounds. neat. New goal! Finish EDH plans and then build pauper and pdh.
The current PDH rules are that you can only use uncommon backgrounds with your commander. Common ones can be in the 99, but uncommon ones are the only ones allowed for your command zone. It's a really fun format! I highly recommend jumping in if you get the chance!
How are multiplayer brackets run?
Great question! The online tournaments I've played in are run through topdeck.gg, which uses software called Command Tower to do all the registration, pairings/pod building, calculating tiebreaks, etc. You can find more information about it at topdeck.gg/subscribe
Are these tournaments all multiplayer?
Yes! All the events in the video are multiplayer. There is a two-player version of Pauper EDH (Pauper Duel Commander, or PDC), but I am not very familiar with their tournament scene.
I have a Cyberman Patrol deck I built. Haven’t had a chance to play it yet.
Awesome! I have a soft spot for colorless decks for some reason, so I'm always excited to see them do well. Good luck with it!
@@ankylosaurmtg Yeah as soon as I saw it in the release, I had this in my head. Funny thing is I’ve only played 1 game of PDH, but I fell in love with the format and now I just want to build and play all the decks. Saw another video about cPDH and then found your channel. Happily subscribed!
Thank you! And welcome to the format! It's some of the most fun I've had playing Magic in years.
