    Obi Wan said "remember; the force is always with you", it was the rebels who would say "may the force be with you". Jedi knew that the force was everywhere and all around them, they didn't need to hope it is with you or whatever.

      Obi-Wan literally at one point tells Anakin and "May the Force be with you." It was just a common "good luck" expression, you're thinking too hard about it.

      @@godofthecripples1237 that was in the prequels; long, long after the misconception had become so deeply entrenched in pop culture. By that point you could point to hundreds of examples from books, games, etc. of jedi saying MTFBWY, and it was all canon so there was no going back. On Kyber crystals: If you compared a lightsaber to a car, the Kyber crystal would be analogous to the transmission, not the engine. It's not the power source, but it IS the bit that makes that power useful.

      Yes! Post Return of the Jedi is the one area where Legends definitely trumps canon for me. Not even because I've read the novels, just concept-wise alone. Luke starting a new Jedi Order-one that respects the value of love and attachment-is fantastic. There's some goofy stuff in there that I'm not a huge fan of but at its core it's far better than what we have now.

  • @spencertaylor-mrliltay

    For #9 (not sure if this is just legend now or if it’s still canon) another point is that from what I understand when Luke went to Degobah to train with Yoda, he spent much more time there than the movie shows.

    • @CalebMcCartyA.A.P
      @CalebMcCartyA.A.P Před rokem +11

      Absolutely true. Just like the movies and shows don't often really portray Hyperspace as actually taking time. It's not instantaneous travel. And that's how the Empire got to Bespin before Han, Leia and Chewie, is because at the time, the Falcon only had it's backup hyperdrive, and sublight engines, so, the Empire was able to use Hyperspace to get there faster, if only just. But no one wants to watch a multi-day journey from point a to point b in movies like Star Wars, so, the travel time is just brushed by.

    Number 10: They're not allowed to show any emotion - Yeah, I have been saying this for DECADES! The same as there are no law's except in Fandom that Jedi cannot have relationships... They can! They just first have to learn to Temper their emotions as the ones they love could be used as weapons against them...
    This would have been the reason that Padame and Annakin had to Marry in secret and potentially only told Obi-Wan if anyone of their commitment... Annakin was not ready, not trained fully and not prepared! From the moment he met the Jedi Council they were speaking of his Anger that they felt in him...
    You know, I am actually PLEASED that finally someone has added that to a list!

      Oh no, relationships were definitely a big No-No. Relationships are a form of attachment, that's the issue. Romance was definitely forbidden in the Jedi Order. It is wrong though that emotions as a whole are forbidden; they just have to be tempered and controlled, and not dwelled on.

    Becoming a force ghost; if it was as simple as having some force powers lead to becoming a jedi & upon death, becoming a force ghost, there should be thousands if not tens of thousands of force ghosts haunting all corners of the main SW galaxy, but there are only a handful as shown on-screen.

    The books,the actual official approved published books,tell a lot about other "Force users"that aren't jedi. But they all have a concept of the light side and the dark side. Blame editing for misunderstanding that Luke's training was so short. Many of us nerds pointed out long time ago the Falcon's hyperdrive wasn't working it would have taken them months if not years to get to Bespin. Luke was on with Yoda training that whole time. Granted this is far less training than starting as a two year old and graduating between 18 and 20 just to Padawan. Then 5 to 10 years more training to get title of "Knight".
    Many of explanations are found in the Legends and comics before lucas retros then Disney agendas decided to screw up the whole thing.
    Legends and comics have at least 5 different Force using groups and Jedi and Sith are only two. Dark Jedi and Sith being confused as the same.

    As you say, it's not about feeling emotion, it's about not being ruled by emotion. During the Old Republic era, at least, Jedi Masters were even permitted to marry- it was somewhat frowned upon and discouraged, but not prohibited. Presumably for several reasons- the more cynical being that rank has its privileges, and that powerful Jedi procreating boosted the odds of more powerful Force-users to train in future generations, and more idealistically, that more high-ranking Jedi would be more capable than volatile teenage Padawans of keeping their attachments under control and not letting their emotions overrule their judgement.
