Fabulous filming and great to see the HS748 (originally the Avro 748) still working. The twin Darts are something once heard are never forgotten. Brought back so many memories of seeing these at Manchester (EGCC) flying with British Airways and Dan Air. I presume this is one built at the Avro/Hawker Siddley plant at Woodford Aerodrome. I am one of the volunteers at the Avro Heritage Museum preserving the history of the Avro company and its successors at the very site where this lovely aircraft first took to the skies in 1969. When the old girl is ready for retirement, you could always bring her home to Manchester. Sadly we have lost the runway at Woodford so she would have to be dismantled before transportation to and reassembly at her birthplace.
Thank you the sound is just special I will never forget it. That is a awesome I only heard amazing stuff about the museum must be a lot of fun to work there. It think that it would be awesome sseing this beauty one day in Woodford.
Thanks so much for the video and memories of this beautiful plane. In the 80’s I was lucky to fly inside of this plane a few times. The airline was called SATA airlines and it flew the Azores islands. As a kid I always wanted to sit near the window and stare at those props and hear that distinctive sound they made depending on the angle of the plane was turning on ground. The sound of the turbo props and the roaring that plane made in person was nothing I ever experienced again.
I used to be a military contractor specializing in Satellite Communications in the Canadian Arctic on the North Warning System. Back in the late 80's and early 90's the 748 was the workhorse that provided logistics support to the sites flying in cargo and passengers weekly operated by First Air Charter Services. First Air also used them in their commercial business as it was a very configurable platform. I once took a commercial flight between Cambridge Bay and Iqaluit which was what we referred to as a milk run as it stopped in a few communities between the two endpoints. The crew actually reconfigured the cabin for more passenger space in flight as we had offloaded some heavy cargo and they added seats back into the cabin to increase the passenger capacity going into the next village.
Awesome story its stunning, that the aircraft works as an passgenger plane and a crago workhorse. these type of missions must have been a lot of fun. Stay safe and enjoy the videos ;) Greetings from Patrick
This is beautiful! We in the Indian Air Force still fly ~50 of them, across diverse terrain and roles. These beauties are soon to be replaced by the C-295, starting next year. There's a good chance you'll spot one if you're flying into New Delhi IGI! PS. Here we call them the Avro!
Great Videos! When I transitioned from Avro to Dash8 I said what kind of "Light Aeroplane is this! Prop Levers!? The HS 748 Avro controls power and prop with ONE Lever! Fantastic!
Wow, what a treat. Great filming. This is aviation at its best. Raw data flying on those iconic beautiful aircraft is pure joy. Hope you can keep em flying for as long as possible. Best wishes from an ex ATPL 👍
What a terrific aircraft. After standing on the outdoor public viewing terrace at Toronto's Pearson International Airport (then Malton Airport) as a child watching my Dad come and go on business trips in the late 50's and early 60's I think I would recognize the sound of a Rolls Royce Dart turboprop anywhere. During the late 70's with a PPL I was taxiing a C172 to the active runway at Pearson and had the opportunity to watch Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau's government Vickers Viscount pass right in front of my nose after being told by ground control to give way to the PM's ship. That brought back a lot of memories as it was probably the last one flying in Canada and the sound of the Dart motors is very nostalgic for me.
Thanks for the nice comment Bruce I had a blast reading it. The nostalgic feeling is something I can relate to aswell. I will never forget about the early days of fotographing planes when everything was new to me. This feeling of the early days just popps up in my head when im doing recording work for airclips. Greetings Patrick
Great video, love the Hs748 great british engineering 🇬🇧 Grew up living opposite Liverpool airport, we used to have Emerald Airways they had a fleet of 748s, could hear the darts all night.
Fantastic movie - lovely to see the old 748 flying again - used to be a regular at Gatwick with DanAir, More interesting for the crew that does not have to rely on computors - Many Thanks
Thanks a lot! You made me remember my early teenager years in Santiago, Chile. A convulsive time... However, one day I was walking with an aunt in front of Beautiful Arts Palace, in the middle of the Forestal Park. and all in a sudden a Lan-Chile 748 appears out of nothing over the tree line from the north directly in front of us. Still I wonder why the Captain was flying so low; I remember he almost touched the high trees on the river Mapocho riverside and zoomed over our heads in a blink of an eye to get lost behind the buildings beside the Santa Lucía Hill- He was surely at no more than 150 feet and the noisy RR Darts filled my ears! Precisely the harrowing noisy whistle you reminded me today. Thanks a lot, again.
No Problem, sounds like a breath taking moment. ist so rare that you spot plane like this by accident. It always makes my day when im able to experience such a nostalgic event. It reminds me of the feeling I had when I was spotting planes back in my childhood. Greetings from the Air-clips office :)
Totally explained every question I had from the first video and more. I imagine weather is a huge cost for Wasaya and similar operators. Much repect to these flight crews flying into and out of these small airfields under those conditions and payloads!
Superb filming, thank you so much. From an English man who grew up in the 60s, my local airport was full of RR Dart engined aircraft, you never forget that sound .
Landing lights are the same flip down style that the DC 9 / MD 80 has. Back in the day If we ever wanted to get down faster or shed a little more speed we would deploy them early or a little late
Nice video. We have a few of these flying here for the Indian airforce, so we can still see and hear those nice engines. It has a very unique engine note both at idle and full take off power. Dont think the IAF will fly them for much longer either as they are looking at (and found?- C295) a replacement.
Queen Elizabeth 11 of Englnd used to fly in a HS748 of the Queens Flight, she was not too pleased at the noise level of the Dart engines whe taxying,so the pilots would ride the brakes to keep slow steady spped whilst keeping the Dart engines at a power setting that avoided the Dart twang to the ear at ground idle power.
This is my second clip i watch today at your channel and i really enjoy it! Flew a lot lot with my father in the jumpseat F27. Lovely to hear these RR Darts again!
Wonderful video. I love the 748 and I wish you could do another video showing the panel during the different phases and, if possible, explaining the water methanol system. Thank you again !
how many gallons can the 748 tanker haul? back when I FE'ed DC-6's in Alaska, we could haul about 3800 gallons of fuel oil, but Im sure the RR darts are more reliable and less maintenance than the Piston engines on a DC-6. also did they ever make any RR darts with reversing propellers. Im sure you guys know what you're doing, but using rubber fuel bladders gives me some pause cuz they can't be properly grounded and when the temperature drops well below zero, static electricity is a real problem, a few machines have been burned to the ground using plastic drums for fueling and unfueling aircraft in Alaska. Maybe rubber isn't as bad, but I remember that old trick where you rub an inflated ballon against your head producing static electricity that makes your hair stand up
Considering the props i think it indeed aree RR-535 engines, (that would make it a Dart-6 not a Dart-7) The wine is awfull but that's how these where. I noticed the girl is starting up the engines with props feathered. that's unusial to Single shaft engines, never seen that.( is it the same engines ?) While this guy indeed starts the engines in fine pitch (and has way more of this familiar noice) How did you manage to find these kinda planes ? How did you manage to give you a chase plane ? pfff you're a hero ! Still flying two planes at the same time.... never did that before 🥵 (Oops only at the end i saw she was driving some antiquated ATR alike beast)

I flew on a 748 back in the eighties from Fredericton NB to Halifax NS - Eastern Provincial Airways. Great video - thanks!
Very cool! Thanks for watching! How was the flight ?
My Dad was a 748 pilot...brought back a lot of memories...thank you so much!

Canada is one big flying ancient aircraft museum!
I love Canada!
Love that sound! Reminds me of trips done in Viscounts, Friendships (NAC) and HS 748 (Mount Cook airlines ) in New Zealand a few years ago now
yeah I know what you mean. But this one sounds a bit more clunky I feel like :)
Just outstanding footage, great crew and me living in Hawai’i for 24 years, the Hula Girl is the icing on the cake 😂
😂 nice, glad you liked the video Sven.
Greetings from Patrick :)
I didn't know any 748's were still flying !!! What a gem, thanks AC 🇬🇧👍
No problem Tony, glad you liked the video :)
Flew in the RAF on the Andover then round the Arctic on First Air on the HS748 Beautiful plane Love it...
That sounds like a awesome experience. How come you were able to take that flight ?
Avro 748...the best of British!
I hope she will survive for a long time and will stay in the sky unti the end

This video left me speechless. HS748 is a hell of a machine.
you are right she is so gorgeous can't lie about it
Wow Thanks for the amazing pictures, what a cool place and people😀👍
my pleasure I loved creating this video
Thank you for a beautiful enjoyable flying experience on HS 748 . Excellent photoghraphy interchange with skilled smooth editing . Well done ! ❤️👏
Thoroughly enjoyed it!
Awesome, thank you!
Makes me want to dust of my old British Standard Whitworth spanner’s!
My first aircraft as a licensed engineer 😍
Not much beats the sound of those Dart engines, in the turboprop field!!!
Beautiful video of two beautiful planes! Great work!
Thanks a lot!
The First Officer withdraws the FFPS Lever as soon as the aircraft touches down. Loved every bit of it
That is so nice to hear ☺️
That whistling sound....sheer music to my ears
Sounds majestic ☺️
Worked in these beauties for 13 years in the UK... Truly miss the dulcet sounds of the Darts...
the sound is just to good and will stay in your head for a long time after hearing it :)
That awkward moment at 12:50 was like Serge saying Achmed Foley.
Canadians are nice people!
yes they are really kind I love working with them
Nice memories with this plane during the 80's! Philippine Airlines HS 748
Great video, love the Hs748 great british engineering 🇬🇧 Grew up living opposite Liverpool airport, we used to have Emerald Airways they had a fleet of 748s, could hear the darts all night.
Fabulous Crew. I must say this HS748 is a lovely bird, always like the prop powered planes... the sound of them engines, yum
Couldn't agree more!
Awesome!! Cool planes especially the 748, and cool pilots. Canadian bush flying at it’s best.
It sure is!
Great job guys! Thanks
Thanks for watching
Phenomenal aircrew! Loved the video Patrick, thank you very much.

yes the time of a normal usage is sadly over I love seeing them in the air
Graet aviation film! 👍
My first Love. Avro HS-748

Amazing!!!!
Thank you! Cheers!
Lovely filming.
Thank you ☺️
Thanks folks, and you have a very cool job there!!. No 100LL burners, even the DC3 was a Basler turbo conversion!! 8) LOL --gary
How about those mighty Rolls-Royce Dart engines!
They are really classic
Now can you do north star airlines .. awesome videos
😂maybe

I am surprised the plane has no prop reverse. So I assume the other planes with the same Dart power plants did not have it either?
Candian pilots are cool.
I Bet When She puts in the Hanger
She DOESN'T PUT ANY MONEY THE
PARKING METER ! p. S. YOU A
FANTASTIC PILOT HAVE A GREAT
WHATEVER YOU DO 😂👍👍
next time I tell the crew to get a ticket for the aircraft haha
What means Wasaya? lol
Commonly known as the buddgie

Can I get a 748 cap as a 🎁
