    One of my favorite aircraft to travel in; back in the day regional carriers flew many of them in the congested USA East Coast airspace. Then many major airports had an older, shorter general aviation runway; the Dash-7 could "jump the queue" using that runway to avoid air traffic control delays at peak hours.

      I was living near Denver Colorado as a young lad when Rocky Mountain Airways inaugurated the world's first DHC-7 service in early 1978. I was a budding AvGeek and not knowing at the time what they were, their Twin Otters would be flying high over the house, coming in over the Front Range about 20 miles out from Stapleton. Eventually I found out what they were. Somewhat surprisingly to me, I've never flown in a DHC-6 or DHC-7...only a scant few DHC-8 flights. I'd really like to rectify the DHC-7 shortage by getting up to Canada and flying aboard this service.

    Had the pleasure flying on many Dash-7's with Air Niugini in PNG years ago and then on the Dash 8's as they phased them in. Again the STOL capability was perfect for many of the remote grass strips in PNG, especially in the mountainous highlands region where the plane or chopper are the only way in. Always interesting cargo too, pigs, chickens, drums of fuel, vegetables. Great scenic country to fly in especially in the highlands were a lot of flight is just above the jungle canopy or through mountain ranges. Great workhorse plane, just a little before modern sound proofing, ear plugs come in handy!

    I was flying 3 times on the Dash-7 from Beryaja in Malaysia to Tioman. The flight from Subang to Tioman was the best of my life. Due to not good wind conditions we made several go arounds and 2 times we diverted for refuling to Johor Bahru. In the end we went back to Subang. On the next day was a separate flight organized to fly us to Tioman and this time we landed with the first try. It was awsome to have one day just flying the Dash 7.

      @timoswindowseat7045 Před rokem

      @@AirClipscom I was really lucky on that day. They always tried 3-4 times to land, but due to the special runway on Tioman the limits for tail wind were always exeeded and it was quit bumpy on final. I think in total we were 8 or 9 hours on that trip. For this unique experiance it was ok, that my vacation on Tioman was one day shorter. Unfortunately those flight not exist anymore.

    Nice camera setup as well, although during startup i could not monitor the fuel flow.
    However for the second flight i noticed a overtemp on No-4 at startup (within time and temp limmits though).
    I really liked all these camera's giving a real good impressing of operating the aircraft.

    I worked at a small general aviation airport back in the 80's and one day we were all shocked when one of these landed at the airport.
    It looked huge on the 60' wide runway.
    It appeared to be some kind of a training flight because it exited the runway, taxied back and took off again without stopping.
    I'm sure it was relatively light but still it got off the ground very quickly.

      From what I've read, there's never been a plane before or since that can carry that much while having a crazy low stall speed, and able to land & take off from such short runways. It can also spin on its axis and take off on the runway it landed on. On top of that it's pressurized and is the only 48 pax plane to service Lukla airport.

    Flew in Dash 7's from Pt Moresby into Kiunga and then up to Tabubil in PNG, back in the mid 80's. Air Niugini had 2 Dash 7's dedicated to this mining construction project and the trip over the mountain to Tabubil, often required a low level flight along the Ok Tedi River gorge, weather changed rapidly and we often had delays or turn backs due to cloud, The 2 Dash 7's were flown from Canada and they were great to fly in.

    Had two wonderful years flying the Dash in and out of London City when it had a shorter runway. Have a lot of respect for a machine I could put down anywhere. Recommended technique in crosswinds was wing down approach and landing, not crabbing in and kicking off drift. Such slow approach speeds, I began one with the runway in the F/Os side window! Having four PT6’s was very reassuring! Great aeroplane.

Just wondering if you had any issues from an airworthiness standpoint with regards to mounting cameras on the exterior of the aircraft. I work in the aircraft world and getting ANYTHING attached to an aircraft, inside or outside is quite a process. Designs must pass through engineering and airworthiness department before mods even begin.
