Someone mentioned how people with mental illnesses don't get fake results, they just get kicked out. I really wish the show had gone that route instead! It'd be way more realistic. This way it just feels like Effy's getting everything handed to her.

Effy is the sister of a Generation 1 character while David Blood is the father of a Generation 3 character so in a way this scene connects Gen 1 with Gen 3.

Well I know that Ireland's school examinations are insane anyway. We would study seven to eight subjects a day. Two before break, three before lunch, three after lunch. In school from around nine to four everyday.
But they are changing things. This is back in 2007 when I did my leaving cert.
Two years to study each of the seven subjects and then in the leaving cert we have half a day for each subject to basically just write down everything we remember.
If you have a bad day or are sick tough luck.

In the UK college is the equivalent of Junior and Senior year in high school..so yeah...they're 16-17. University is the equivalent of college in the USA, ranging from 18-21.
