- Russia launched a massive missile strike against Ukrainian cities last night and attempted to destroy Ukraine's largest hydroelectric power plant. Now that Putin's election is over, Russia is okay with people admitting that Russia is in a war with Ukraine. A motion to vacate the chair has been submitted in Congress and Mike Johnson might be removed from the Speakership.

Those Russian glide bombs are nasty and some public information guy at the Pentagon said that Ukraine should use F-16s on Ukrainian soil. Who are these bureaucrats? These kinds of statements should come from the President, not anonymous pencil pushers talking to the Financial Times.
Keep hammering away Jake, I'd love to see you on the Medias Touch Network.
6:10 Jake please look at that FT news article, there was no US official that stated that.
This is disinformation and now both Suchomimus and yourself are repeating it.
Please be careful.
From that article
“Nothing terrifies a sitting American president more than a surge in pump prices during an election year,” said Bob McNally, president of consultancy Rapidan Energy and a former White House energy adviser
“We do not encourage or enable attacks inside of Russia,” an NSC spokesperson said
Is it possible to network hand held anti-air systems like US stingers into and other units into the air defense network to act like a poor mans iron dome.
If Washington wants Ukraine to back off on the refinery attacks, the should give the resources necessary to defend itself.
I am told this story is misinformation or the statement has been denied or retracted.

@@user-ee7bz3ip2b at this point as an American as much as I don’t want a nuclear war I kinda want Russia to touch our boats. I want them to see what happens the last time someone touched our boats we dropped two suns on them. But I don’t think that would be necessary. My point is it would show America, even the Trump cultists that this does affect America and it would unite people
Why should Ukraine listen to US officials about anything - the US is not supporting Ukraine anymore so I'd say the US is out of the game. I have never been so ashamed to be an American in my 71 years!!!!
Only 62 years here, and I feel the same. I was a Republican all my life until about 14 years ago.

I feel the same. 72. I keep remembering the statement, "we will never come to you empty handed." That's like swallowing a bottle of shame. If decisions were up to me.... best left unsaid. My God. F around and find out. We should have gone all in from the first moment. I never understood the foot dragging.
Ukraine does not deserve the US acting like ass holes. I keep sending money to United24. I wish I were as rich as Mr Buffet but I'm not.
We are back in 1938 and the West doesn't recognize it.
The eastern half of Europe does. It's Western Europe and the USA that's yet to be convinced
I think the U.S. does, and Europe seems to be caught flat. The U.S. has to balance against Chinese aggression and has to keep its powder dry. That means reserves of cash, materials, and resources. Europe's job and responsibility is to balance Russian aggression.
I don't think there is much of a comparison. Back then, the democratic world was much weaker. Soviet Union compared to Russia was more powerful than today, Germany was an aggressor nation, and the US completely isolationist, whereas today it is part of the NATO alliance. Most of the smaller countries in Europe were neutral at best as well at the time, it was really only Britain and France against German and Soviet influence. And Germany was the most powerful military in the world hands down.
To be honest, I view Russia as being mostly a joke. I suppose it is a threat to the eastern European nations, but even then I wouldn't worry excessively unless NATO fell through, which is still quite a ways off even if things continue to get worse. I simply cannot imagine Russia invading a NATO country unless it was virtually certain the alliance was completely dead.
@@henriikkak2091 Says who? Last time I looked, the UK, France, Sweden were in the Western part of Europe. Stop spouting Kremlin talking points. Even the USA, is largely convinced - you mistake a bunch of neo-nazis under the leadership of Herr trump for what actually represent the will of the USA.
The russian army has been shown to be pretty pathetic, what’s left of it. They are nothing to worry about.
Hitting refineries will NOT lead to increases in crude oil prices. If Russia cannot refine oil for their home market, they can't stop production of crude, and they will have to sell the crude on the open market which will LOWER crude prices, and then they will have to buy back refined products which will damage their economy. So the question has to be: why is someone high up in the US telling these lies? Who desperately needs lots of Russian money?
Good point
Yes, russian refineries have nothing to do with price of CRUDE oil. This is clear hoax meant to discredit US.
Very interesting point.
Was looking for this comment. The crude will all go to India and China who will grin and take advantage of ruzzia and probably strong-arm them into giving them even more discounts than they already get.
This is EXACTLY correct! The refineries in Russia's market-capped export don't send oil out of the country, but in!

As a Ukrainuan, I have to say, this channel and the comment section is one of the few things, that keep my faith in humanity and people in the west alive. Otherwise out here we get very very unbelievably frustrated and shocked at the amount of cynicism of some political powers and individuals.
Happy to be of assistance. This channel and Dennis Davidoff of course.
I replied to you elsewhere a few minutes ago. I'm British but live in Portugal. Ukraine has solid support across this continent like no other European country has ever known. From the Nordic countries to the Iberian peninsula. From Ireland down to Greece. That support comes largely from ordinary people.
That's largely true across the majority of the American public too, no doubt. And this despite politicians across both Europe and North America a) trying to pretend that Russia's war is not ultimately with us and b) not engaging the public in a conversation about the very real possibility of war with Russia.
Things have got so bad now that - after having put Ukraine in serious peril due to complacency, wishful thinking and a perception that this war would stay away from us - that politicians and the system are now accepting that war with Russia for us in Europe at least is now a probability rather than a remote possibility. After 2 years of expressing solidarity with words and having no foresight about what happens when existing weapon stockpiles run low, we're now starting to see politicians begin to grapple with the urgency. Still too slow for the time being but the direction of travel is the right one.
Because you're Ukrainian and because of your comment I'm going to spend a few more minutes here replying to you. Most of the people I know are very frustrated and have been very frustrated at the glacial pace of decision-making and political denial with respect to Ukraine. Macron is probably a reasonable barometer of the change in attitude that's been occurring. Better late than never.
To be honest with you Nattalliya, on the morning of the invasion (which I was certain about since early December 2021) I turned to my wife and said "Darlin, he's gone and done it and invaded Ukraine and we're going to be at war in the not too distant future". Like many, I thought there was a risk of Ukraine folding and was almost expecting us to be at war by now. If Ukraine is defeated (and I'll do everything in my power to make sure that it emerges victorious) then we'll be at war in a few years from now - sooner rather than later, I think.
There's a growing - but still not dominant - understanding that Russia is going to attack Europe. First - and this has been happening for a while - via information warfare (as always happened in Ukraine). And second militarily. I agree with those that say that Russia's first military goal will be to split up NATO rather than take European territory. And then European countries beyond Ukraine will come next.
I'm fully cognisant of the slaughter and suffering that many Ukrainians are suffering, the impact on their families and friends and the deep-seated worry, stress and distress caused by the screwing around going on in Western countries (and the US in particular). Not a day goes by when I don't think about the number of Ukrainian men that are dying and being maimed for life as a result of delay and indecision outside of Ukraine. For the first 5 weeks after the invasion I barely slept.
There are a lot of people like me who have always understood what this all means for Ukraine and for us. My worry (and thus much of my effort) has been watching a generation of peacetime European and American politicians trying to cope with "politics as usual" while their house is already catching fire from the war raging next-door but still trying to pretend that it isn't.
The good news is that things now are really happening. The bad news is that while we're getting our house in order Ukraine is struggling in a very real sense to hold the line. Things like F16s were always going to take years for the AF of Ukraine to learn to use effectively, no matter how much courage, dedication and talent they have as individuals. But while ammunition and military hardware have been supplied in insufficient numbers (though, to be fair, in the case of equipment Ukraine has shown both ability and inability to use it effectively, depending on which part of the UA army that we're talking about) the real shortage has been Western political will. Politicians and leaders act like a herd, you know: nobody wants to step out of line until one does and others start to follow.
They now appear to understand that when Putin (and particularly Medvedev) say that Russia is at war with the West or at war with NATO rather than Ukraine per e, they really mean it. And for two years Western politicians were treating this as a Russia-Ukraine war rather than the first (or sixth or seventh) step in a war against their own countries. Few understood how well-advanced Russia's information warfare is inside their own countries. Some still don't understand that even now.
What's largely true is that Western media organisations have such a short attention span that they don't do their job properly. They're lazy and profit-driven. And go for headlines that grab attention even if they're nothing more than Russian propaganda. I realise that this must be incredibly depressing for Ukrainians because just looking at the news media you must thing that we're all really, *really* dumb.
Look... things are now starting to roll. Personally I don't think we can avoid a direct conflict with Russia because we've left it too late to deter Russia enough. But that means that support for Ukraine is more solid amongst the security/military establishment in Western countries - certainly in Europe - than the Western media reflects. We cannot allow Ukraine to lose. But not is anything other than a Ukrainian victory viable to stop Russia before it gets to our doorsteps. That's a realisation that is now gaining hold and is behind the change in language you've probably seen.
I'll just add that as a Western European living right on the other side of the continent, Ukraine seems very close and an attack on the Baltic States or Finland or Poland would seem almost like an attack on the country where I live. Ukraine seems much more like a close neighbour than it ever has. So it feels much more personal to me and my neighbours than you might possibly imagine.
I wish you well.
Slava Ukraini.

As Putin mobilizes Russia for conflict, NATO sleeps.
It only took nearly two years of war, and a conflict in the U.S. government to induce them to support stability on their own continent. Too much wine, cheese, and beer to worry about paying for their own interests. Now reality has bitten them by the nose.
@brianglick169 A large part of the civilians like to keep sleeping just like in Russia, but NATO and the EU are bracing for impact.
Stop with the NATO BS. NATO is not sleeping. NATO is ramping up training and spending, and moving Troops into areas such as the Baltic states. Poland is more powerful than it ever was, Sweden and Finland are now part of NATO.
What news are you listening to?
russia are nothing to worry about. Laugh at yes but worry no.
You do realize that NATO was founded because of Russia's earlier behavior? they have had plans ready to go for several decades & half the Putler government is already secretly on NATO payroll as spies etc, if Putler tries to push for WW3 they are going to just look the other way while telling us exactly where he is & when would be the best time to take him
Russians are not nearly as stupid as they appear to be, only Putler is the stupid one, if things get to hot under their feet they will choose "the west" over Russia, because they are well aware its either that or the end of Russia, WW3 ain't happening.
And then finally there's the very fair argument about some drunken children and rapists with rusty WW2 material vs well paid & trained soldiers with latest material? it's not even a question who would win.
Finally finally: Nukes? no. Again Russians ain't stupid, they know that if they use one they get several back.

A Vice President who honestly I can't even remember anything she's done in the past four years except soak up tax payer money. Another guy trying to be president, but people are now realizing he was telling the truth when he said he's taken advantage of the corrupt system like every other politician has when he became president last time, and people suddenly don't like that for some reason, but he's also a devout isolationist who doesn't want to cooperate with any other government unless he can take advantage of them. We have a Supreme Court that has been highly politicized, despite the entire point of the Supreme Court's structure being designed to prevent them from being politicized. Meanwhile we have a congress that, as has been the case for the past 100 years, cares only about their own careers and will do whatever they think will benefit them, regardless of the consequences on anyone else. And yes, we're as tired of it as everyone else, but the system is so broken honestly I have no idea what could realistically fix it at this point.

"Jan 3, 2013 - Out of the more than $22,000 spent on gas over the lifetime of an average vehicle bought in 2011, oil companies rake in about $15,000."
There are 11 or 12 million BEVs on US roads . 15,000 times 10 million is 150,000,000,000, or 150 billion.
Average age of the BEV fleet is 3.6 years so using 10 instead of 100 or 12 brings us close enough for this kind of math. Too early to tell how long BEVs will last. Some say less some say much longer. Another 100K is all that much more hurtful for oil companies. Some are buying into charging and others are closing filling stations.

Did you know that Ukraine was a part of UN peacekeeping operation in Yugoslavia between 1992 and 1995? Our soldiers refuse to evacuate and leave civilians behind so they managed to negotiate evacuation of people.
"On 11 July, 1995, Serbs killed 8,000 Bosnian Muslims in Srebrenica. They planned the next mass ethnic cleansing in Žepa, where many members of the muslim community also lived. With only nine armoured personnel carriers and light firearms, 79 soldiers from the 240th Separate Battalion of the Armed Forces of Ukraine defended the town against 2000 Serbs for two weeks. Due to this, Serbian General Ratko Mladic was forced to request negotiations with the Ukrainians. Colonel Mykola Verkhohliad managed to secure a safe passage for the residents. The evacuation started on 25 July. Ukrainian peacekeepers were assisted by the French. More than 60 buses were involved, transporting over 5,000 individuals. This operation was considered the most successful in the history of modern Ukrainian Armed Forces up until 2014
Over a three-year span of peacekeeping missions in Yugoslavia, about 1,300 Ukrainian military personnel joined, 15 of whom lost their lives. Their primary tasks were to contribute to the cessation of hostilities and help stabilise the situation by patrolling the streets, maintaining public order, and escorting humanitarian aid shipments."

Why? Why should America, Australia, Canada, NZ, or any nation not in Europe help Ukraine still? Europe should send their troops into Ukraine and keep us out of it. We have a housing crisis from all the invading migrants left right and centre.
@@resiefan3258 Because Russia has made its intentions very clear. Their propaganda regularly admits they want to invade other countries. So it will only get worse. It'll turn into a giant tumour. Think a step deeper. The U.S. is tangled up balancing China in the Pacific. It is our most local concern. Europe can fiscally handle supporting the war on their continent with their neighbors, which they have finally started to do. The attack on Ukraine was part of a series of wars designed to cause an imbalance in the U.S. capability. I think they are handling it the only way they can.

The gas price argument falls so flat on me while America is drilling more domestic oil than ever before.
America is not a closed system, and oil is a fungible commodity. If there's less oil reaching the world as a whole, it will get more expensive in the world as a whole.
If it gets more expensive in the world as a whole, and US prices stay low, US companies can make more money exporting US oil instead of selling it domestically. So that's what they'd do - unless US gas prices rise to compensate, which they will.
If the price falls, they'll stop drilling so rising prices are actually GOOD for US oil production.
OPEC tried to strangle shale production in its crib. The Saudi Oil Minister died and they kept the taps open for years. Now the Saudis know that the Americans will drill when the price is right anyway. So they close the taps enough to keep the price high for everybody.
The US may be producing plenty of oil, but they do so according to the world price. The US doesn't have a domestic price for oil.

I live in California which thinks rate payers should foot the bill for shutting down nuclear plants, solar panel trickles, and the bills of poor folks.
This is politics. Both parties are useless. Just don't give away others people money too. Fixed income people are already hurting from the recent inflation.
The USA had the opportunity to do the right thing for the first time in 50 years and they’re coming up very short right now. As Churchill said “Americans can always be trusted to do the right thing, once all other possibilities have been exhausted.”
Little did Churchill know, that Americans can flip flop until the enemy wins. Wouldn't be the first time.
American politicians would like Americans to ignore the terror in Ukraine. But we won't.
If we keep doing what we've been doing the war will come to us regardless....
Not only Europe and the UK...
Putin has said he wants Alaska back...!!
Why is it the American's responsibility to make up for Europe's, and specifically Britain and France's failures to manage the post-war situation? You know what we saw when both world wars began? Just another stupid European war in a long list of stupid European wars.
The nazis needed defeated, we know just how important it was they were defeated after the war, but Churchill had no room to talk about American failures when it was Britain and France who caused the 2nd war to start by their own failures to contain the rise of the nazis, which were themselves the result of their unhinged economic revenge taken on the German people. France never learns, France in particular caused the 2nd and 3rd reichs. That is their global neighborhood, if anyone should be responsible for security in Europe, it's Europeans. Americans take that responsibility because they know if they don't a major war will start and someone will drag them into it.
@@tremedarUSA signed the Budapest memorandum and promised Ukraine freedom for giving up on their nukes. The US is responsible for keeping their end of the deal. Regardless of Budapest memorandum the US has been actively provoking Russia throughout the Cold War thus partially being at fault for the tense relationships in Europe. This one can’t be blamed on Europes „failures“. Either blame Russia for choosing to attack a sovereign nation during times of peace or accept the U.S. faults as much as those of Europe.
Thank you for pointing out the clear enunciation of Russian future objectives for blatant imperialism, this should be a wake up call to the US and allies, make it easier to set clear objectives to help Ukraine to win.
As a European I must admit I am completely disgusted over the US sacrificing Ukrainian lives on the political alter.
A country that used to be a trusted ally, partner and a beacon for democracy has turned to utter #%¤"!. A sad sight indeed.
As a US citizen I agree. I can only hope the true Americans wake up and do something before it's too late. We have learned quite well from 2 world wars the cost of doing nothing. So much progress being undone truly a nightmare.
Freedom is a word that means FU Russia, FU China, FU NK, FU Iran, FU Hezbollah, and peace to the rest of us. glory to Ukraine and the hero's of freedom
Well said.
Don't forget the MAGAS! You have most of our enemies.
YOU FORGOT TO SAY THE US WAR MONGERS. FREE-DUMB (FREE TO BE DUMB ARE WE; WITH OUT LIBERTY) IS JUST ANOTHER WORD LEFT FOR NOTHING LEFT TO LOOSE; WAR VET IN THE FAKE WAR OF THE NAM. IF YOU THINK I AM HOLLERING AT PEOPLE HAVE NO CLUE WHAT STILE OF LANGUAGE THIS ( ITS NOT ENGLISH AS YOU THINK FOR SURE .) IF YOU DON'T KNOW ASK AND I WILL EXPLIAN IT
Okay bud, i'm guessing you are American and influenced by some American news media, take it from somebody in the EU, China really is not the enemy and the current situation would go a lot smoother if America can stop being so rude to China. Just accept that they have become a superpower and you've actually done most to help them reach that (trough trade & loans) so just deal with it, if you want America #1 that's totally a-ok but work for it, dont try be d*cks to China and tell the rest of the world to do so too, that's how you lose respect the world over.
Are they holy saints? no ofc not, are they a dictatorship that wants to attack America/"the west"? also no ofc not.
Slava Ukrani 🇺🇦. Thanks Jake. Please keep doing your thing for Ukraine. It's a GD shame what the Republicans are doing in the House.
Sobering, depressing once again to hear civilians being targeted.
I suppose a silver lining to this - is Ukraine will have/is building, close to if not, the finest most experienced air defense forces in the world. Tack on maritime defense forces to that as well.
The motion to vacate was filed as non privileged so this doesn't automatically force a vote within 2 days, however MTG has threatened to bring a vote against Johnson if he puts any Ukraine bill on the floor, lets hope Johnson can be persuaded to put a Ukraine bill on the floor.
Otherwise, lets hope the discharge petition works!
Those Americans reading this if you REALLY want to help call up your congress man or senator doesn't matter if he's a democrat or a republican, or you yourself are Democrat, republican or independent and get them to come to a agreement sending aide to ukraie and shutting down he US border without strings attached. EVERYONE gets what they want.
EVERYONE no matter what party has they OWN AGENDA.
This has devolved into a pissing contest.
I am a Republican, I don't agree with the isolationist wing of my party, but I also don't like the fact that the Biden Administration is trying to arrest the putative Republican candidate for President and tell me who I can vote for just like Putin as done! I don't want to have to vote for a candidate that the Biden Administration deems harmless and has no chance of winning because the serious contenders are in jail on trumped up charges!
I think illegal immigration is also a problem, because illegal immigrants often come from countries that have corrupt politicians just like Joe Biden that are arresting their political opponents so they can run effectively unopposed, I don't want my country becoming just like those countries those illegal immigrants are fleeing. I think there are other funding mechanism besides the US Congress that we can explore, instead of it having to ride 100% on US domestic politics!
Gosh, the video of the ‘positive pregnancy test’ made me cry. It’s utter madness what’s happening in Ukraine. The illegal, unprovoked, evil perpetrated by Russia is beyond comprehension.
Glorious Ukraine from Canada it is very frustrating to see what’ happening in the usa
One of Media TV hosts repeatably refers to Speaker Johnson as "mini-me Mike". I love it!!
