  • Well, we didn't see that one coming... literally. We lived through a tornado in the Florida Keys in our truck camper. And didn't even know it! Sunday, February 18, was a regular rainy day in the Florida Keys. Not that windy, no thunder, no lightning. So it was pretty crazy when this tornado appeared out of nowhere. Here's how it happened....

I figured we’d do a little video to share more than we can in a short or comments. Must be a consequence of the El Niño winter this year. Thanks for watching and reaching out; it’s always nice to hear from our viewers!

Happy nobody was hurt. As you can see those water spouts can be brutal but most of the time they stay offshore.

Oh yes definitely don’t want to be in the way of anything that can do that to a structure or snap a tree 😳

Hey guys! Love your channel. Just watched your Alaskan trip, and loved it.
As a born and raised Alaskan who has lived here all my life, and still never tire of exploring it, and seeing its beauty every day, I can't begin to tell you how much fun it is seeing it anew, through a visitors eyes. Thank you for that.
Also, love what you did with your Lance! Brilliant! I had a brand new one of same make and model back in the day, and it couldn't hold a candle to yours. 😊
Quick question though...are you driving a F250 or an F350? Didn't see the markings on the truck but would love to know because I'm gearing up for another truck camper myself. Also, what mods did you do to the truck to make it ready for your camper?
Thank you so much for your help.

Thank you! So happy to hear you enjoyed our Alaska series! Especially coming from a born and raised Alaskan 😃 Alaska makes it easy to make videos bc anywhere you film is beautiful.
The camper was definitely a lot of work bc of all the water damage but we’re happy with how it turned out.
The truck is an F250 but in these years, the F250 & F350 are identical except for a few suspension items. Our F250 came with a heavy duty suspension from the factory so it’s the same as an F350. The other truck that I just got is a F350 and it’s the same as the F250 when it comes to towing and weight capacity. So in these year Ford trucks they are different mostly on paperwork. But any truck you buy you need to see what the springs are rated for and what the axle ratio is, because in the super duty trucks they come from the factory with different spring and axle ratio options. I also had to add more leaf springs in the rear. No matter what truck make or model you get with a camper you will need extra leafs or airbags. And keep stock wheels with the truck camper or get method heavy duty wheels because the other after market brands can crack like mine did before the Alaska trip.

@NickandJulie thank you...this is great information! Do you know what axle ratio you have? That's the one thing I wonder about on my 250...it's ratio is more highway oriented and thus not geared for low-end Torque like a 4:10 ratio is. But on the other hand, it is a diesel, a d I've been told that the 6.7 Power Stroke will easily make up for the deficit.
