- Learn how to play "I Want Candy" on the drums. Although originally released as a single by The Strangeloves in 1965, Bow Wow Wow with the great David Barbarossa on drums released their version in 1982. Barbarossa's innovative tribal drumming style helped define Bow Wow Wow's unique percussive sound and by adding timbales & working around the Bo Diddley beat foundation they put their own rhythmic stamp on "I Want Candy"!

Thanks so much & I'm happy you found it helpful! 🥁🙏🏼
Yes!!!
This is an amazing lesson. It’s frustrating not understanding how to play this song. Thank you.
Thanks so much! Yes, the drum part is definitely tricky and a bit unorthodox with the use of timbales in place of the first mounted tom. Such a cool and unique groove that's really fun to play! Thanks for reaching out & keep on hittin' the skins! 🥁
Thumbs up all over the place man!!! Thank you
Absolutely, thanks for watching & happy drumming to you!
So it's kind of a paradiddle/double paradiddle arrangement with timbale accents and a Bo Diddley shuffle on the kick, at least that's how I've always played it.
I like your version better than mine though!
