- A composite reconstruction at 3 stages of life, of Ramses The Great, son of Seti, husband of Nefertari and father of over 100 children.
Ramses was born of non-royal blood in the Hyksos capital in the Nile Delta of Avaris.
He was one of the longest living kings, living into his 90s. He built more than any other king.
A Fierce worrier, famed for the Battle of Kadesh. Later in his life, he took a step back from battle to focus of religious roles, leaving his sons in charge of military.
DNA test show that he was indeed red haired.
9 Pharaohs after him took on his name.
I worked on this reconstruction based off of his Mummy, which I had the pleasure to see in Cairo where I felt very emotional looking at the great king. His mummy is exceptionally well preserved. This is the second recon of Ramses that I have done, the other was a simple profile angle reconstruction. This new one is much more realistic. I have many other videos/documentaries on Ramses on my channel.

This was amazing👍 But when I look at the statues of him he looks more like Rameses from Prince of Egypt or Joel Egertons Rameses, he looks more muscular and round face. I think why his face seems long is because when you die your face will lose it's form (or what you can say) and the skin falls down. I remember that happend to my grandpa when he died after just like an hour or less I didn't recognize him at all, he looked so different that I thought it was another person but it wasn't

Keep in mind that he was in his 90s when he died, he had grey hair but it was red before it turned grey

So, Ramses II, or Ramses the Great was a red head. What a neat detail. Maybe Danny Kaye should have played him, instead of Yul Bryner in the movie, The Ten Commandments, with Charlton Heston. Danny Kaye looks more like the real Ramses II. Great video! Thanks.
