  • Hello everyone and welcome back to the channel!
    In this video I will be conducting a fault identification on the 2001 CBR600 Sport that has a charging problem. I will be carrying out a test of the Stator and the Regulator/Rectifier on this bike to determine where the problem lies.
    Once we get to the bottom of that little matter then we be completing a repair to ensure that this bike runs correctly and charges the battery as it should.
    I hope that you enjoyed this video.

    Just had my reg/rectifier replaced on my 06 cbr,as you say a known weak point on Honda's. Thanks for the in-depth testing,very informative.

    Always having stator and rectifier issues with my R6's. Nice job with the adaptor plate and the bike bike itself looks to be in good nick for age. 👍

    god bless you for making this video, do you mind telling me what all tools you used to take the bike apart and all the wiring components you used exactly in the video (i have a 02 so this should fairly work the same)

    Great video as always. Changing my regulator at the moment as have already swapped out a stator. Do you use 12 gauge for both the battery wires and the stator?

      Cheers mate, on this kit I used 14 Gauge for the Stator cables and 12 Gauge for the battery cables👍

    What rectifier model is that? Looks like it gives a good output power. Mine is working but at low RPM it doesn't generate enough power.

    If it would fail the stator test what would it mean? Stator is shot or bad ground somewhere? Cheers

    So if it's same cover I've been looking at( yes a year later) they recommend putting right on top of old cover, was that possible? Just curious

      Hey bud, they are Harris Rearsets. They were on the bike when he bought it though. No idea if they are still available. I reckon eBay would be your best bet though.

    I have a cbr600fy the one a year before this modle. It was the last of the carbs. I has a problem where the battery wont charge but it passes every test in the manual. I cant seem to replicate the tests in this video because the looms are different. The rectifier plug has all 5 wires in 1 and its not clear where the posotive end up other than the posotive terminal lead which i used.
    I'm stumped. So frustrated because it happened on the day of my ferry to the isle of man so i had no bike while i was there.

    • @KevsShed
      @KevsShed  Před 2 lety +1

      If the battery won't charge then there has to be a fault with either the Stator, Rectifier or an earth problem. If your Stator and R/R are testing OK then I would begin looking for a crusty earth somewhere.

    • @Bikeadelic
      @Bikeadelic Před 2 lety

      @@KevsShed I tested for an earth fault and the tests were a pass. Should I just start testing earth continuity between connectors and looms?
      Also do you know of a rectifier kit for the 2000 year model? Theres only 1 conector for the rectifier with all 5 cables going to it. Alternatively I could buy all new connectors and speerate the stator wires from the output wires.

    • @Bikeadelic
      @Bikeadelic Před 2 lety

      @@KevsShed tested a bunch again today.
      Stator resistance - 0.2 ohms each
      Good earth
      Stator output - idle 13v ish, 5000rpm 55v ish (I have really bad memory but they passed)
      RR output - idle 14.3v, 5000rpm 32v
      Voltage on battery while off 13.3v
      Volatge while running drops constantly until it cuts out.
      I think thats everything i rechecked today.
