I think it's obvious that Stolas is in a arranged marriage, but still loves his daughter. I also think it's clear that the wife doesn't really love him, because in the argument they had in the beginning she was more angry about him disgracing their nobility than actually cheating on her.
I notice that too when also you notice that Octavia spend a lot of time with stolas then her mom make me wonder if the mother doesn’t care about them both

It's less of a fact of Christian demonology and more of just a fact of demon work in general. This is coming from a luciferian who's interacted with him before and he is pretty e p i c.
Also why he has astrological themed powers, and the whole thing in the start with the constellations.
There are key clues in the episode regarding what Stolas and her wife relationship status actually is.
They sleep Back to back despite being married with a Child she ignores the Cries of her little birdie and goes to sleep while he wakes up and blows a universe with his song just so she can fall asleep
Stolas frowns often and tries to take Octavia away from the house so she wont hear her mother screams all day,
Hires bodyguards so he can focus all his time to attend to her needs and try to fix their relationship , imediatly eliminates the parasite that disturbed their moment.
And all across the Episode you dont hear Octavia mention her Mom Once all she cares and is afraid of is her dad not being there for her when she will need it.

I agree except for 2 points. 1)I often sleep with my back to my partner and such simply cause I get too hot. I don't think its a sign of a poor marriage. (Though I completely back the idea this was an arranged marriage and they are not happy or possibly dont even like each other.) 2) Often parents take turns checking on a crying child in the middle of the night. You do so to let one parent get more sleep in order to handle the day. So passing on a turn to Stolas I can see as normal.
The mother is definitely poorly represented here. She appears as a horrible, shallow, narcissistic, and neglectful type. I can fully see her as never having loved Stolas type. I am not so sure on her relationship with her daughter. We only saw a brief representation of her before Stolas cheated. After the time skip we see her taking the cheating very badly. I do agree with others it seems she cares more about the status and such, but in the end she is pissed. So many fight in front of their kids because they cant control their emotions. It doesn't mean she hates her kid or doesn't care. So for all we know they were a close mother daughter until Octavia's teens and the cheating. In the end though the mother is doing a very poor job of being a good mother so hopefully they fix that or she never grows and Stolas divorces her.

Another is that Stolas frown when he waked up indicates a recouring theme(aka something that happens often)
And even in her worry she is afraid of him leaving her behind(aka with her mom)
So is obviously she understood what he tried to say with the explanation.
So Via herself doesnt seem to have much care on her mother.
And ya she was not even mad at the cheeting fact but at the idea of him in a motel and with an imp

I don't know if the worry was from being left with the Mom, or just losing the Dad she loves. You can feel abandoned and not just from being abandoned in a shitty situation, but also just them leaving and never coming back.
Over all this was a great representation of what unhappy relationships can do to children. It obviously wasn't directly after the first night he cheated, since it seems its been a while since Blitzo and him first got together. So they were fighting probably a lot since at least the first cheat.
@@BlueRoseWolfie Via’s nightmare was she couldn’t find her dad anywhere in the palace. Then later in the episode she’s afraid of her dad leaving. They’re basically the same frightening thing that scared her. No wonder she want to be with her dad, she doesn’t want him to leave.

Stolas obviously either used to love his wife or never did bc their marriage was probably arranged. He was speechless bc he couldn't really just straight up tell her "Your mother and I never really loved eachother" or "your mother and I drifted apart" bc he doesn't want to hurt her
It clearly used to be a stable relationship that steadily fell apart over time. Stolas fucking Blitzo was just the spark that ignited the powder keg that relationship was. (Just guessing)
@@djeverest4078 I can't be sure just bc I know a lot of royal relationships can be arranged but he did say I thought love could be fun so he could have had high hopes for this arranged marriage or he had some kind of spark with her and then realized that she wasn't what he wanted. Then they had Octavia so he stayed.

Only because of that and when you rewatch the pilot thinking about how she probably felt when the imp said he fucked her husband in front of all of her friends. She probably had to hear how everyone thought about her and their relationship which also didn't help the situation.
@@djeverest4078 If you look at all the drawings and family pictures in the home, though, they heavily hint at Octavia preferring her dad and the wife not even caring about the family. All of Octavia's drawings are just her and her dad, and the wife is either not smiling or straight up looking away in the family pictures.

Also, keep in mind that Blitz is our sense of scale. In episode 1 they make it clear he's about the size of an adult human, while Millie and Moxie are about child scale. That means Stolas is about 10 feet tall!

Well in Hazbin Hotel Charlie admits that she expresses herself best through singing and it especially shows that it's how she copes with her feelings in the beginning
And Alastor is a radio personality, so he's likely to have put on a few shows where people were singing, or maybe he himself did the singing in a few occasions, so him being able to sing is not out of the question. Plus, since it's a reprise of the song Charlie made on the news, it's likely that he was either mocking her or showing her how's it's done. (While Charlie's song was visually very impressive, the song itself was sometimes hard to hear and understand; Alastor's meanwhile, was much better as a song since he's probably used to having no visuals to accompany what he sings or says.)
Kinda wish moxie got to give the carni what he deserved instead of just accidental justice.

I won't say I wouldn't enjoy that, but I appreciate that Moxxie has so far been one of the few people in Helluva Boss who doesn't seem likely to get revenge for petty things like this. He would have enjoyed it if it became part of the job, but he isn't actively vindictive. This is important to me because Loona and Blitz _are,_ so I like the contrast.

The book opens portals. It's why Blitzo wanted it. That solar system explosion was entirely Stolas' doing. So yeah they were actually there
@@Pridam The book has many pages, grimoires are spellbooks/books about summoning demons. But, I definitely think it was an actual solar system. I don't agree Stolas caused the solar system to implode, and considering the sheer quantity of solar systems in the known universe, there's probably a solar system imploding every few hours kek.

Things to know:
1: Fizzerolli has a sexual poster of him holding a pair of hand cuffs and a list with different kinks.
2: Stolas actually doesn't need bodyguards. He just wanted Blitz to be with him.
3: Stolas is one out of many powerful demons, which is also why he didn't actually need bodyguards.
4: Imps are known as the lowest forms in Hell.
5: Stolas' wife isn't mad that he cheated on her, but the fact that he slept with an Imp. In the first episode of Helluvah Boss, Blitz is seen sneaking out of Stolas' bedroom with the big ass book, then crashes on the tea party and says "I fucked your husband."
6: Stolas doesn't actually love his own wife. You can see how they act around each other, without the whole cheating thing. She's more for status while he's carefree and only loves his daughter.

I think there's a difference between the text of the series, and paratext. The text of the series is basically what happens in the show, and what is presented/mentioned right in front of us. Paratext is context presented by the creators/authors in terms of characters, situations, traits, etc., that hasn't been presented within the text (e.g. J.K. Rowling saying Dumbledore is gay even though the books have never addressed that aspect).
It's okay if you don't know every single detail that comes your way. What matters is that you understand the story, and what will be revealed, will be revealed in time.
This episode has two of my favourite musical actors in it, but only one of them gets to sing which is sad.

They changed her voice actor because in the pilot, 1 person voiced Luna and Millie. That's a lot if work for 1 person so they split the characters among 2 people going forward
I'm very lucky in that my parents are divorced, but behaved like reasonable adults and communicated effectively for years. It was the whole "staying together for the kids" but instead of a forced relationship, it was coparenting. And yeah, there were some really rough times and between my brother's bipolar disorder and my ADHD it was NOT easy.

Helluva Boss is still funded by Patreon and the episodes come out as soon as they're done with them, which is why we have couple of them now. Hazbin Hotel is in production too, but they can't really show anything of it before it's time to release the whole season.

I still remember the time when I was a kid that I managed to win a game where you had to throw a ball into a tall urn of sorts, only the ball was exactly the width of the whole and very bouncy, so the wide rim they put on it to look like it will go in if you sorta get it in? Yeah, nah. The prize was a bunch of huge fluffy white teddybears, and naturally there were easier things to put the balls in below them. I was about 10, and by sheer luck managed to nail a perfect shot and won a big teddybear. Only, instead of one of the beautiful creamy white fluffy things they had on display, they reached under the counter and pulled out a discoloured dark vomit green-orange with stringy clumped fur that was shedding just by touching it. Or another instance where my family and some uncles/aunts went to a different fair, and upon watching me hit a stack of cups square-on with a ball, and the ball bouncing off it -hard-, my uncles realised the scam, and lined up to each take turns full-on baseball throwing the ball into the same stack. Although the paper cups at the bottom where full of something heavy and hard, and one of them was visibly nailed down, they managed to forcefully pummel all but one of them off the stand, with the final one at a 45-degree angle with the nail underneath it showing. They didn't want to burn any more money at that point, but left the asshole with a very visible scam ;P

I think Hazbin's songs were all placed logically. Charlie expresses her thoughts and emotions better in song, and Alastor is the Radio Demon, so him singing makes sense.

In the beginning, the song Stolas sings is so celestial because he is a demon of astronomy, which is really cool to see. The jester, Fizzarolli, is on the cereal box that Octavia is eating, and it, along with the themepark and even the freaking money, all have Mammon printed on them, who is a demon of greed, so appropriate. The signs in the background are hilarious, so keep an eye out for those. Like the Fizzarolli sex bot sign. Gives and receives, BDSM feature, ribbed for your pleasure, real tentacle action, 10 speed vibration, and machine washable. He ain't just for kids, that's for sure. Not sure if it was noticed, but Fizzarolli also rips off Charlie's lines from her song during his dance and song piece. The head that acts as the entrance to the funhouse is based off of Lucifer's face, so that's a cool reference and blatant copyright infringement by Loo Loo Land. Really surprising even Lucifer can't win a lawsuit against the owner (who seems to be Mammon). Somewhat hard to notice at first, but Fizzarolli also gets eaten by a dragon being ridden by Moxxie as Stolas and Octavia are leaving the park. And right at the end, Millie is getting dragged off by a fly dog creature that seems to be Hell's version of rats. It's the same animal that Valentino got as a pet (which he named Queef, and almost immediately killed, apparently) in the Official Hazbin and Helluva instagrams.
Did anybody else think of Shrek at the end where Moxie rides the dragon (from the PETTING ZOO!) and it swallows the robot like Dragon did to Lord Farquaad?
Kinda leaning towards Stolas's marriage was arranged but he tried to make it work for the obvious reasons for arranged marriages maybe he even tried to love his wife (the line in the song he sings to Octavia 'I used to think love could be fun' kinda gives a nod to this idea).
After an intense first episode we got a tamer family drama episode with Stolas and his starfire!

Y'know... The whole "Are you two done screaming for the day?" Line seems to imply that arguments of that scale are not uncommon in the household. Which for a lot of these theories about the relationship problems between Stolas and his wife, proves they have some level of validity. Sure it's Hell, but c'mon we've seen with Mox and Millie that there can be good wholesome relationships here.... It's just that this one isn't one of those. They might have been able to tolerate each other or hide their feelings when Octavia was young, but it seems that they haven't been doing that for a *long time*.
To give credit where it's due, Stolas is still trying to be a good Dad, but if it's true it's an arranged marriage, he might not have ever really wanted to be there in the first place. That might have been what he almost told Octavia near the end, but didn't have the heart to say it since it could ruin his relationship with his daughter. Most of this is somewhat my inference on the matter, but that's just what I'm seeing through subsequent viewings of the episode as a whole.
