Ray Stevens specialized in hilarious and on occasion disturbing. The ones that come to my North Mississippi squirrel which I like absolutely hilarious and there was one on the Shriners convention with the immortal mind hey coy how'd you get that big old motorcycle up in your motel room. He's made his career on parodies and hilarity and I love him for it. Good reaction guys all the look on Keith's face the first time he said it's me again Margaret was absolutely.

Ray Stevens was known firrel vivalor his tongue in cheek humor and ridiculous songs. Loved every one, none better than Margaret and The Squirrel revival.
As many others have said, Ray's Mississippi Squirrel song is a must-do. And another great funny oldie is "Battle of New Orleans" by Johnny Horton.

Ray is absolutely nuts. "FRED" A story about his talking dog LMAO. He actually has a good singing voice. "EVERYTHING IS BEAUTIFUL ". I took the Best of Ray Stevens, and Roger Miller with me to Desert Storm. Definitely needed all the laughter I could get.
Everything is beautiful is probably rays greatest song ever. But I had hit Dustin and Keith in the fells, for two songs so i had to lighten things up

There's a saying, "It's erotic if you're using a feather, it's kinky if you're using the whole damn chicken."
I don't know anything beyond the saying...have no idea what the chicken is used for and for the sake of my sanity, I don't want to know.

You really need to watch Mississippi Squirrel. The lady that plays Margaret is in it as well. I believe she plays 'Sister Bertha-Better-Than-You'. It's so damn funny.

I had the Ray Stevens video cassette that Dustin's talking about the list of songs was the streak, It's Me Again Margaret, Mississippi Squirrel, Santa Claus is watching you and the only serious song that he ever did called Everything Is Beautiful that being said my top three recommendations that are must do for him are the streak, Mississippi Squirrel and sitting up with the Dead

Over the years, they've cut a section out of this song. I haven't been able to find the original. It's another phone call where he says "It's me again Margaret. Bet ya can't guess what I'm doin". There is a version on a Dr. Demento album, which is where I heard it, back in the 80s.

Hahaha I still have those reels as you say, the original motion pictures. Have VCR movies, have 8 tracks, have cassettes, have cassettes, damn I am old. Even the old vinyl players, remember my first record player was a snoppy red baron record player, still have it and it works.

Hell I still remember back in the day put the tape recorder up next to the speaker and recording my favorite songs, calling the radio station and requesting songs so I could record them. Today's generation has no idea of the pains we did to get music.
Local rock DJs knew me by name due to that. Because I was always requesting things that were "harder" than their normal genre. Getting a radio station in WV to play Metallica in 1988 was near impossible. - Keith

They downgraded country and wouldn’t finish the songs. They would be like “aww hell no I can’t listen to this sh!+ any longer” and cut it off. The only one they liked was Fancy Like by Walker Hayes and gave it an 8 out of 10 on their scale. That’s how they rated was 1-10.

cassette tapes, yeah. I grew up on Ray Stevens and Jerry Clouwer and boy oh boy oh boy some of those song/skits did NOT AGE WELL. HooooOOOOoo boy. But they were both funny as hell. Take a listen to "camping trip" but not the music video...the recording is much better than the the album is called "Surely You Joust" It aged well! Also Sitting Up With the Dead...that one's hilarious....at least to me. and Southern Air, and finally "The Night That Me And Doris Went Running Through The Forest" Which speaks for itself.
